My friends.

As some of you know, I have been looking after my husband/soulmate who was diagnosed with Cancer some years ago. In October he was admitted to hospital with suspected Pneumonia but weeks and weeks of antibiotics did not help him. The hospital then did a scan and they saw that my husband's cancer had transformed into an aggressive form and it had progressed so far that there was nothing that they could do for him. He came home where I was able to nurse him until he died (less than 2 weeks). This is the hardest thing I have ever had to live through.

I have not picked up a guitar for weeks now. It is on my "To Do" list but I just have not got the enthusiasm at the moment.

Take care of yourselves and of those who you love.

Mandy

Oh, Mandy, I am so sorry. That is devastating. Take all the time you need for yourself and let yourself grieve. Your guitar family will still be here for you.

sad to hear Mandy.

when my mom died , I sat on her front porch in her favorite chair,  playing what ever came to me.

when I play live I always keep one of her lighthouses near me that I kept from her collection. some way I think she hears me playing.

you will go through a number of emotions. remember your music will always be there for you and it will be ready when you are.

Mandy, it is so nice that you felt you could open up here and let us know what has been happening. I take that as a sign that you know we are here for you. We cannot do it in person so you will have to imagine a group hug from all of us, holding you in our hearts and prayers.

Many of us have lost loved ones so have some understanding of what you are going through but I have not lost a spouse/soulmate so I can only imagine how hard it feels right now.

Take it easy and take your time with returning to playing your guitar - it will call for you at the right time. If you want to chat via Zoom let me know as I would be delighted to. Maybe there will be a time over the Christmas and New Year when you jest need to talk with a friend. I will send you a PM with my contact details.

And thank you for being so kind and thoughtful of me when I was ill for 4 months last year.

Mandy- I am so sorry for your loss. No words can express enough comfort. I can only say that I have lost loved ones and it hurts so bad. Know that your Guitar family grieves with you and for you. My grandmother always told me, "to feel pain is to know you are alive"! I know in your heart and soul, you have so many great memories to travel with you and keep you company!

When you arrive at a place & time in this season, remember, "that without music, life would be a mistake! (I'm not sure who said this, but I wrote it down sometime during my guitar life). Reach out, we are here for you!

Thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mike

I am so deeply sorry for you in this sad and difficult time. You shared your husband's story with me in the past, and I held hopes  and prayers that all would become better and hopeful for you both. It is impossible  for anyone to know what grief a loss is like until you experience it. I did so with my father two years ago. For you to  lose a life partner is heartbreaking.

Like Fretless, please reach out  to me if you need someone to communicate with. I don't Zoom, but we have shared valued PM's in the past. My heartfelt condolences to you. As others have said, the music will return when it is the right time. It can be a grand healer.

Mandy, thank you for entrusting this Guitar Family with your so intimate feelings of your loss. It is a privilege for us to receive. Yesterday I saw my Brother who is dying from prostrate cancer as well as a lung disease. Everything is a little teary today. I am also retired clergy of over 43 years of ministry. experience does not overcome feelings sometimes. Know you are not alone for you are lifted by this guitar Family. Some day you will take a deep breath, pick up your guitar and the music will touch your soul and bless you.  I believe that is the gift of music. May the gift bless you today, tomorrow and all years to come.  When you need us we are here!

Mandy, we all are so saddened to hear about your loss.  It's always difficult to hear this but especially so with it occurring to someone that is such a valued member of our guitar family.  When the time is right you will pick up the guitar again.  Until then we are all here for you.

Hi Mandy,

So sorry for your loss. What a gift to have had a soul mate for a partner. Maybe when it is time, play that happy girl guitar and sing one of your favorite songs for your hubby. I have found that those who pass can communicate with us. Hugs and love from us.

Phil

Here's thinking of you on Christmas Day, Mandy. With all the Covid-19 restrictions it cannot make it any easier for you but I do sincerely hope you find someone to share some time with this Christmas.
