  1. That was a pretty cool video! Definitely a different perspective than I'd considered before! When he got to the part about using the triads, I thought 'hey! I know those!!' Lol! Steve's Triads lessons definitely are pretty entrenched in my brain now! Thanks for posting this!
  2. Thanks for posting this! Definitely a technique I need to practice!
  3. Mandy, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My heartfelt condolences and prayers for you. Your music and your Guitar family are here for you. When the time is right, you will know it and pick up your guitar.
  4. Great video! I got it recently in my email, but hadn't had a chance to watch it yet. Desi is a great instructor! Some great tips in there!
  5. RIP Eddie Van Halen.... outstanding musician and performer. His playing inspired many to pick up a guitar. 😥😥
  6. I've ordered from Just Strings, Strings and Beyond, and Sweetwater. All good ordering and customer service! I've never used anything below 9's... I'm interested to hear your experience when you change them!
  7. Some of those are very cool looking! Very creative! That would make some great wall decor for a music room!
  8. I have two bluechip picks, one is a regular shape, medium thickness and the other is one of their larger picks. I really like both of them, the larger one is very comfortable and easy to hold. But, that being said, if you are one who loses picks, these are not going to be great for you! At first I was very nervous using them! They are pricey for picks! The reason I want a thumb pick is that they wear so much better than the regular thumb picks when playing banjo.
  9. I really like using a thumb pick! Got used to it as I started to learn banjo, and it seemed fairly easy to get used to. The one I use for banjo is getting pretty worn down so I may ask Santa for a bluechip thumb pick for Christmas! Those are some cool links! I really like the top link - the 12 bar blues progression he shows is great! I will definitely be trying to learn that!! Thanks for sharing those links!
  10. Wow! That is an impressive tune! Quite catchy! Wonderful that you have taken those classes and furthered your music theory knowledge! Congratulations! That is quite an achievement!
  11. Wow! That sure is a great looking guitar! Taylor's are amazing instruments! I had a GS Mini and it served me very well! That case is unlike any I've seen! Congrats!!
  12. Stay safe Greg & anyone else in the path of these fires! We have had extreme heat here in the southwest recently, and some pretty bad wind and smoke as well, but thank goodness we don't seem to be in immediate danger of the fires. Sending good thoughts your way
  13. Area 51 is close enough, lol! This is quite a unique town!! Been here 2 years and loving it! Still searching for more folks to play music with though. That can be a bit of a challenge in a smaller community. I did find a lively group of ukulele players and until the whole 'virus' I played bass for them. I have sadly not been able to find any buried treasure, lol! :) If I do I have a few guitars on my wish-list 😇
  14. Pretty cool! Thanks for the info! I have always liked that song... I think I'll give it a look!
  15. Wow! Congratulations! That is a beauty!! I have heard the name Myrtlewood but have not heard a guitar made with it. I really like the concept of blending the body styles. I struggle at times to hold a bigger guitar like a dreadnaught, so I'm intrigued by this! Have fun playing!! Hope we get to hear how she sounds!
  16. Oh my.... I hadn't really considered that. I have a Martin Custom X series and I guess I've been lucky. That guitar has been through a lot! Brought it camping, down to the creek several times when we lived in TN. Its been to at least four Guitar Gatherings. Although I'm not careless with it, it has gotten its fair share of bumps in its time! Hope yours is repairable!
  17. Wow! That sure is a great looking guitar!! So glad you guys got to go visit! I'd love to get back out to Nashville sometime soon! Thanks for sharing the pics!!! Y'all look great!!
  18. That was a fun read! Thanks for posting that! There were 2 or 3 songs I was not familiar with too. But it was still an amusing article
  19. RIP Charlie Daniels! I was lucky enough to see him in concert a few times and it was amazing each and every time! What a fabulous performer and wonderful person! He will be missed, but his music will live on! ❤️
  20. Definitely disappointing, but a necessary and safe decision. I know a lot of us would be a bit on edge, especially for the travel portion. Thankful to have Steve's Live Lessons and workouts and looking ahead to next year!!! Maybe I'll finally have all the Triads memorized by then, lol! (The sevenths are taxing my old brain!). Stay safe everyone!! Miss you all! ❤️
  21. Wow! Congrats!!! That is a beautiful instrument! Enjoy!
  22. What a great resource! I too, had visited this site many many times! I had some files but they were incomplete and the quality was very very bad... So wonderful of you to do this and share it with us!! Thanks!!!
  23. Wow Fretless! That is going to be an amazing space!!! Can't wait to see how it turns out!! As for me, I think I've made some good progress with the Triad series and workouts. I've been practicing them almost every day and I can really see improvement! The first workout seems fairly straightforward to me now, and I'm chipping away at getting fluid and consistent with the 7ths in workout #2. Every once in a while my brain just freezes up, but its happening less and less. I think I'll try working thru some songs using the triads and see how that goes! Still working (or trying to at least.. ) so not a whole lot of extra free time even though business has been painfully slow... And we are getting some projects done around the house.
  24. Wow! Another wonderful recording! I got through Canon in Session 10 but still had a few rough spots that I wanted to work on. Looking forward to getting into the fingerstyle course to really get going! Thanks for sharing that!
