I'm sure many of you have already heard of this website. He really does have some interesting technique advice and rhythm advice. I have found a lot of interesting videos here.2 points

Just watched this TedX presentation by Tommy Emmanuel where he talks about his life as a "One Man Band" Its from 2014, but if you have not seen it, well worth a look! Many consider Tommy to be the best guitar player in the world today and I tend to agree.1 point

I have been looking for something really light for some time. After talking to a couple of the PRS owners on here, and talking with a few on other forums, I had decided that a PRS Hollowbody I or II was the guitar. I was already a huge believer in PRS guitars. I had looked at a couple on Reverb, at Chicago Music Exchange and elsewhere and made a couple offers but never ending up owning one. Last week my wife and I were in a local guitar shop and this one was hanging on the wall. Way up high where the nice ones are! The owner had to get it down! He handed it to me and my wife immediately said, "That is really pretty!" I played it and fell in love both with the way it played and the tone. My wife actually told me to make on offer on it but I didn't. I don't know why! I told her wanted to think on it. It has driven me crazy all week and I went back and brought it home tonight! It is feather light and has this gorgeous hollowbody tone. It has McCarty Humbucker Pickups. There is just no doubt at this point that this is going to be my "go to" guitar.1 point

Man thanks everyone. I took the picture outside and the glare makes seem a little worn in the photo , but it's not. The pick ups sound full and rich to me in the complete mahogany guitar. Having a great time so far.1 point

Mark, I'm well along on Level 2 Advanced. I hadn't looked at the PDF in months until just now; I play along with Steve in the video on my iPad. It's nice to have the PDF to describe what's happening, but the videos really have all the info you need. As you play along, you hear what's in quarters and what's in eighths. As for speed, if I can do it on an acoustic, you can, too. It won't take a lifetime, but it's taken me a couple of years. So far. When I can't quite keep up with Steve, I pause the video and repeat that section. For variety, I do the scales out of order sometimes. This works for me. Thanks for reminding me about the PDF. It would serve me well to play through these sometimes with the sheet music in front of me.1 point

Fender just announced the Eric Johnson Thinline Stratocaster. You Strat guys What do you think? A guy that I have jammed with has a Thinline Tele and he loves it. It is really light. I don't know that weight has ever been a complaint about Strats (like it has with Les Pauls.) What do you think?1 point

Hey, personalized picks for bands and businesses! What a novel idea. Hmm...Guitar Gathering picks, @Steve Krenz?1 point

So in the new forum I can't display a list of my guitars (too long for the signature) so I created a website for my guitars. You can click on the My Guitars link below in my signature. It is a work in progress and I'm missing quite a few pictures. It was a fun little project to work on. I showed my wife last night and she was impressed that she was mentioned so many times. She even sent a link to one of her co-workers. Is that license to get another one? Let me know if you see any errors. Ben1 point

I need to try the Blue Chips as the seem to be a bit of a favorite. I play guitar with my fingers primarily, have hundreds of picks of all shapes, sizes, materials (even one made from a cymbal) but the ones I do use now primarily are the V Pick Traditional ultra light (red) and the Kodiac Crossover with the velcro strap, the latter is useful for one like me with a history of thumb issues. Wow, nice find. I love playing my PRS II hollowbody, and yes it is ultra-light. For those of us who have had back surgery as myself, a wonder to behold....or should I say , just to hold. Love it and yours is a stunner!. Enjoy and congrats. Greg1 point

I tried these. The raised pattern seemed to get gummed up and lost their efficiency too fast. That's why I switched to the Snarling Dog Brain Picks. The grips stays effective a lot longer for me.1 point

Congrats! I've actually had a mild case of GAS for a semi-hollow lately. Some may remember that Semi-hollow is not a strain of GAS that had affected me in the past, but now you are causing a flare up with this awesome PRS.1 point

But finally and ultimately, music remains an intensely personal issue. Maybe the most important commitment you can make is to the music fan that lives inside of you, to find out just what it is about music that really, really knocks you out. In that discovery, you'll find most of what you need to know to take you wherever you need to go. All of you here have roads ahead of you that will be filled with good musical days, the ones where you feel like you can play or hear anything, and bad musical days, the ones where everything you do sounds like a bad Madonna tune. But that variety, that sense of unknowing, that feeling of having to make it up yourself, that sense of adventure — that is what music is at its best, and that's a big part of why having a life as a musician is so much fun. —Pat Metheny, Berklee Commencement Address, 19971 point

UncleHammy, a great quote and Will McFarland did say this. As I understand his entire quote was, "I'm not a neurosurgeon. If I make a mistake playing guitar, nobody dies." What bothers me (or did) is this came just before my 2nd neurosurgery1 point
