  1. According to legend, there was a road in Cambridge UK called Laundry Lane which was home to many people with the surname Arnold and as such became known as Arnold Lane by the locals. One of these was called John Arnold who was a small time crook and together with producing illicit alcohol, his "thing" was stealing high end clothing from clothes lines to resell. John Arnold was known to Roger Waters and was the inspiration for the song. I don't know how much of this is actually true but it's a story I've heard more than once.
  2. I have the book, signed by his guitar tech. Such an interesting read. The Hard Rock Cafe was apparently under the impression that they owned it and Gilmour had quite a battle getting it back.
  3. I wonder how he manages? 😅

    Money

I read somewhere that Gilmour found the time signatures too tricky for the solo so they went with 4/4 for it. For the record, he supports Arsenal Football club which is based in London, UK
  5. I'll guess it's an Epi LP Custom
  6. So sorry to hear that. My condolences to his family and friends.
  7. In my opinion, a Tele has a tone that's difficult to replicate with another style of guitar which is why I have one in my arsenal. Mine is great to play and never had any issues with it.
  8. Of course, I'd be happy to help if I can though I'm no expert. These are my two basses. The Yamaha long scale and a cheap (but lots of fun) short scale bass. The short scale bass feels very much like a six string in your hands and is (for me) easier to play so I would suggest she tries both to see which she prefers.
  9. It's always nice to have one or two My partner plays too so we have 17 guitars between us and now two basses. I must admit I do enjoy playing bass now and then for a change.
  10. My Mrs surprised me with a Yamaha Bass Guitar
  11. A good read. Thanks for posting
  12. Guess I'm lucky that my Mrs has as many guitars as I do 😅
  13. I use a Line6 Pod HD pro x for everything these days and certainly wouldn't go back to a real amp. Digital modelling has come a very long way these last few years to the point where I can no longer tell the difference. I love the convenience that it gives me, just turn it on and there's the tone you love with no tweaking and fiddling. As Gotto say's, more time to play guitar.
  14. The guy that runs 10s guitars is one of the better quality Aliexpress Chinese guitar makers and he crops up regularly in several forums that I visit. That said I have read of a few people that have been disappointed and it seems his customer service is non existent so it would certainly be a gamble. I'd agree with Randy and look at Epiphone instead. They really are at the top of their game at the moment. If you can get Harley Benton guitars by Thomann where you are then I would most certainly recommend you look there too.
  15. I'd agree with you if you're playing clean tones only. For more overdriven tones, if the volume is set to 10 it's way easier to get your amp to break up and way easier to clean it up when you need to by rolling the volume off. Set to 5 in this case wouldn't work so well.

Any videos of you guys? ... I'd love to see some
  18. I steer clear of anything Digitech mine also sounded awful. I've just traded my old and trusty Pod xt Pro to a Pod HD Pro x and couldn't be happier. Tweaking it is simple with the PC app and its great fun playing with the "pedal" settings. I think its very important to find "your tone". Learning to play is so much more rewarding and inspiring when you like what you're hearing instead of some "plinky plunky" notes in the right order. When I bought my new Pod it took me 3 days to find the tone i was after, but so worth the effort because now its there instantly whenever I want it.
  19. I do the same. Once I find my 5 or 6 presets I'm pretty much done fiddling with it. If you buy a simple amp which doesn't have the sound you want then the pedal rabbit hole appears, especially if you need 3 or 4 different sounds. I can see the appeal of both and if a loud cranked tube amp was an option for me then I'd definitely be taking it.
  20. I've tried a Katana, Blackstar HT-1r , Fender Mustang and several other small amps but I keep returning to Line6. I find that having my sounds instantly available and sounding the same at any volume very convenient. I recently traded my beloved old trusty Pod XT Pro for a Pod HD pro x and discovered that modelling has come a very long way in recent years. So .. POD HD Pro x into a Palmer Macht 402 power amp then to a 1x12 cab. as for guitars ...could be any of the 14 my partner and I own between us but the 335 is getting a lot of love these days
  21. This is very true. Sometimes the corridor sucks a little while your waiting for the door to open but it will eventually. good luck
