Well....this is a different guitar body shape. My new Breedlove Concerto. I have been meeting weekly outdoors, socially distancing with some friends in jam settings. Recently we formed an acoustic , non-amplified session every other Monday, and I found my OOO Martin struggled to speak loudly enough on solos. I hesitated considering the jump to dreadnaught and came across this hybrid design from Breedlove, a company in the Northwest where I reside. A large dreadnaught+ sized lower body and a concert sized upper. The sound hole is also smaller. Breedlove claims this shape retains the volume loudness of a dreadnaught but eliminates the potentially boomy bass that some can find ‘overwhelms the sound frequencies. I know that it’s more comfortable than a dreadnaught and has ample bottom end for me. I believe this guitar will compete well enough when it comes around to me for my solos in the jam group.

The top is spruce , the sides and back are myrtlewood ( indigenous to the NW coast) ,the bridge, fretboard and headstock are ebony, and the neck is mahogany.

Hey Greg- Nice looking Breedlove. I love Myrtlewood. Having lived in Oregon & Washington at different times of my life, I am familiar with this wood. I have not personally heard an acoustic guitar made from this wood. Let me know how you like it!

Thanks.

Mike

Very nice. I have a Breedlove Oregon Concert, all Myrtlewood, that I absolutely love. It's probably the most resonant guitar I've ever played, or a very close second. Enjoy it!

Congrats.  I have a Breedlove Pro D25/srh and have lusted over several of their smaller body guitars over the years but never pulled the trigger.

I think they are pretty under rated against the competition from Martin and Taylor since they are newer (and IMHO, suffer from some mixed up marketing). They really do turn out some great guitars and should you ever need it, their customer service is incredible.

Congratulation on the beautiful new guitar, Greg!  I have never heard, or heard of, Myrtlewood.  Enjoy it a long time.

Wow! Congratulations! That is a beauty!!

I have heard the name Myrtlewood but have not heard a guitar made with it. I really like the concept of blending the body styles. I struggle at times to hold a bigger guitar like a dreadnaught, so I'm intrigued by this!

Have fun playing!! Hope we get to hear how she sounds! :)

What a beauty. I've seen guitars made of myrtlewood, but haven't heard any. What a pretty wood. I'll be interested to hear how the hybrid shape works for you. Nice!
