  1. Congrats Bob, I see many hours of pleasure in your future. Henk
  2. Congratulations Danny, amazing accomplishment and it shows with your recording. Henk
  3. That's a beauty, have fun. Henk
  4. Thanks Randy, I have never heard of Nir Felder before but he is one hell of a guitar player. Henk
  5. Oh no, wasn't it the 8 track that got us into trouble the last time. I read a book a few years back which detailed the amazing life of Les Paul, I think it was titled, "The legacy of Les Paul", can't remember the author (may have been through Gibson). It was a great read. If I'm not mistaken Les Paul has one of the few stand alone displays at the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. That is another check for the bucket list. Henk
  6. Thanks for the video Wim, this guy is a real piece of work. I'm pretty sure I would be doing the job on a work bench and not the floor. (I can't believe he was sawing just over the hardwood floor). The information regarding the procedure seems reasonable enough although I would suggest a few changes. First he used a piece of finger joint pine for the block. This is too soft and has a tendency to split (as evidenced when he cut the block), rather I would use a hardwood. Second, possibly redundant, I would make measurements before and after loosening the trem screws. Overall it was a good video of how to get the job done and he is a funny guy. Henk
  7. I'm interested Wim, since I also have a PRS with tremelo. What material did you use? Is it permanent? Is the tuning more stable with the block? Have you noticed any change in sustain? Did the pickups have to be adjusted after fitting the block? Sorry for so many questions, it is something I have thought about but I haven't been able to talk to someone who has actually tried it. Henk
  8. I watch Steve's video to start, but after that it's all by the book. I feel that I can't devote my concentration to the task at hand if I have to deal with a computer. But hey, that's just me. Henk
  9. I have used some you tube videos from Justin, Marty or Guitar Habits to help learn a particular song I am trying to learn. I do not subscribe to any of their courses. The L&M course and Steve's add-ons are more than enough to get me to where I want to go. Henk
  10. Agree with Neil about washing your hands before you play. Takes only 30 seconds and in my mind is the number 1 reason why the strings last longer. Plus it keeps the hand oils off those nice guitar finishes. Henk
  11. To obtain a copy of Wood and Steel, simply go to the Taylor Guitars web site, find the icon for Wood and Steel, click on it and you will receive a free download (pdf). Henk
  12. Wow, 8 tracks, now you got me going. '64 T-Bird all the windows down and blasting "Born to be Wild". Henk
  13. Doug, I believe the secret to getting a good solder joint is to use the bare minimum amount of heat. One of those small soldering pencils should do the trick. Patience, patience. Henk
  14. Very good Mike, you are doing great, keep at it and have fun. Henk
  15. Great playing Randy. We played the CCR version. I hope one day to contribute a song, but for now I can only record on an iPhone in front of the Loudbox. Henk
  16. Thank you Diane for taking the extra time to keep us up to date. Henk
  17. Well done Ian, the lyrics are very touching. Henk
  18. The group that I jam with monthly uses DropBox to post songs which we will play at the jam session. I addition to the song sheet with cords and riffs, an audio file is added to be able to listen to the music. By the time the jam session night arrives, everyone has had an opportunity to practice the songs. Henk
  19. I have been a long user of a web site called Guitar Habits hosted by Klaus Crow from the Netherlands. (https://www.guitarhabits.com/) In this months news letter he shows how to play five common "walking Blues line riffs". Print outs are provided in note and tab along with a video tutorial which I found very easy to follow. For me, this lesson came at a time when I was wavering on learning some jazz, so I thought that I would share it with you. Henk
  20. Fantastic Kevin, great song and a smooth performance. I've always been a fan of Eva Cassidy. Henk
  21. Neil, I couldn't agree more. Personally, I pushed through till Session 8 when I decided to hit the pause button to learn how to play more songs. My ratio would have been 20% course and 80% songs. My love of playing guitar increased. As the song learning/play increased in difficulty, so did my willingness to refocus on the lessons to become a better player. I do like the idea of an overall plan but I am not keen on assigning how many minutes I will spend on each aspect of the learning process. I just let it flow and improve. Henk
  22. Beautiful, I really loved your performance. I can only aspire to reach this level of skill as I work my way through the L & M program. Henk
  23. Great find Dave. I have always been a big fan of Godin guitars. Top quality at a reasonable price. I'm sure that you will spend many hours enjoying your Multiac. Henk
  24. Not likely, since the toothpicks are softwood which grinds up to fill the gaps before the glue hardens. The screw enters the hardwood block with a mush of filler (toothpicks and wood glue) inside the old hole. Once the glue sets in 24 hours, all is well. Henk
  25. Excellent repair tip Doug. I have been using toothpicks/wood glue for years to fix loose hinges. Henk
