Pulled the trigger on a new guitar yesterday. Fender Telecaster Player Series (MIM). Very nice tone. Not as heavy as I thought it would be.

Congratulations on the new Tele, Dan!  Enjoy it a long time.  We are all looking forward to hearing something from it.

That I hope will be happening fairly soon. I’ll have a lot of time to work on something while work is shut down. I’m also looking at a looper pedal in the near future. Anybody have any suggestions?

Steve has in the past recommended the Ditto Looper and you just saw Neil recommend the 2X version.  It is made by TC Electronics who is highly respected in the pedal industry.  I have their Flashback delay and can't see myself  ever needing a different one.  I also have the Ditto Looper but have to confess I haven't worked with it as much as I should.

Musician's Friend has a good description of it.   I think, but I'm not sure, the main difference between the Looper and the 2X version is the latter allows you to import and export loops.  There may be, and probably are, more differences.  I'll let you study that😉

When you get ready to start using your looper Steve has a great instructional video for just $10.

A Ditto looper 2, has a very important feature the mini 1 only has 1 button form everything

A Ditto 2 has a Start and Stop buttons separate,  very important

I was actually looking for blue or maybe orange, but I saw this one decided to go for it. Something about basic black.

Thanks to everyone for the looper suggestions, so far. Looks like everyone is in agreement on the Ditto pedal. I will look into that this week. Lots of guitar playing ahead. I just purchased Steve's major scale workouts and started practicing with part one last night.

Yes on the Ditto X2  you can Import/export your loops with a USB cable. It also has a 1/2 speed and reverse effect built in (I've never used it) But as Doug says, the main reason I got it vs. the Ditto 1 is the dedicated STOP button. You can avoid doing double clicks all the time.

I found it takes a while to get used to using a looper, and I've never really "mastered" it (yet) The main thing I'd use it for would be practice playing the rhythm track of a song then playing the melody over it. Steve has a video on this to help.  https://gx169.infusionsoft.app/app/storeFront/showProductDetail?productId=67
