  1. I to need to thank Paulette, Timothy and Steve for a great conference. What a comfortable and engaging group of people to play, learn and laugh in a super environment. We are looking forward to the next one and determination to move forward in the guitar journey is deeply satisfying. Thanks again from all of the gray beards in attendance. Fred
  2. To add to Diane's comments, I as a first timer am really awed by the talent of the conference attendees. I spent some time with Greg Voros and his technician and they answered multiple questions about guitar maintenance and had a few very interesting stories about some guitars they worked on in the past. Because of this I missed lunch - but I got to spend about 30 minutes with Collin Hill in the "Loft" watching him play and just chatting about life. What a polite and unassuming young person, plus a mammoth guitar talent. I also overheard him talking to Joe Robinson about how they use "nails" versus "flesh" for their techniques. Next up is day 3.
  3. I too was a Roy Rogers fan, had a whole herd of "stick horses" made from Yucca plants in southern New Mexico. I used to pit RR against Gene Autry to see who gets to sit by Dale, the good ole days!
  4. Love watching the videos of Ted Greene, especially the one where he is playing at someone's wedding. Those around him seem oblivious to what he is doing. Good person as well as a great musician and teacher.
  5. I just registered and am also looking for recommendations of where to stay. My "war department" will be along and she is looking forward to the trip. Driving to Nashville from NE Texas. Thanks for any info.
  6. Well that is a good guitar, I used to have a blue burst and sold it, have mooned over wanting another. The Dallas Guitar Show is just around the corner and I'm sorta looking. You will really enjoy that one with a Bigsby, I have a 63 Guild Starfire III that is completely hollow and a hoot to play. Enjoy!
  7. Nothing wrong with a Tele, just be sure to get a set-up on what every guitar you get. Let us know what you get.
  8. Things are changing, that's for sure. Nice read.
  9. He will be performing in about a month or so at the Dallas Guitar Show, he is one I always try to see.
  10. That looks loaded with lots of tunes and riffs.....woohooo!
  11. I like Hide Away by Freddie King, listen to it often.
  12. Good list. Freddie King is also played a lot in this part of Texas....
  13. Thanks for sharing, lots of talent.
  14. I recently heard a very short clip of a TED talk that mentioned that Beethoven hit several emotions in (I think) his 9th Symphony...could be a faulty memory, just interesting how "mood music" has come along through the ages.
