  2. I've registered for the summer event. I've never been. In fact, I've rarely been out of my home studio to play. I've been working through the Learn and Master Guitar course that Steve put together and I'm on the Jazz lesson. I've been working on it for a bit over 2 years. I am really nervous. I still consider myself a beginner, but I think that this conference will help me to get out of my shell....even if I do suck....hahaha!!! I'm pretty excited!

  3. I wish I could take credit for thinking of the Monthly Recording Challenge but it was started by a member with ID BenBob. I haven't seen him on the forum for about 3 or 4 years so I took it over about 3 years ago. The idea was to share member recordings in a central thread. Each month the previous month's "winner" picks the theme for the next moth. By winner I mean random participant picked by dice roll. In my experience I have learned a lot from participating in the challenge. I have not played much lately because of lack of time and hand pain but when I do participate I try to find a song that matches the theme and also has elements of what I am working on for skill development. I have enjoyed it over the years. Some months we will have lots of entries 7 to 10 other months we have only 1 or 2. Everyone is welcome to post no matter the level of their play. Some of the members are pros others are beginners. The main thing I like is it gives me a chance to learn new songs that I like. As for posting format, there are no rules. Videos are welcome. I think most people use Soundcloud because a post from there does not take up space on there forum login. Hope to hear from you soon.

  4. Hi All, I wanted to say how much I appreciate Steve Krenz's teachings and the community he has helped to create with all of us here. This arrangement is from his Learn and Master Fingerstyle Guitar course (amazing course) and I recorded it yesterday. I hope you enjoy it. 41789178_263420141019589_2064040570489548358_n.mp4

  5. Well, I made through all 20 lessons Learn and Master Guitar! I want to thank you, @Steve Krenz for putting together such a wonderful, well thought out, and educational course. Your guitar course is hands down the best guitar learning course out there!!! I started Steve's guitar course many years ago and never expected to get this much out of one course. It has been an amazing adventure. I began playing the drums in high school, well Jr High first then decided I would like to learn the guitar as well. I started learning guitar, (i guess i was in my twenties) had a teacher for a year or so, i might add he taught me the bass along side the guitar and then life its you. stop playing for a while, well off and on but never really got anywhere with it. Sure, i could play songs and new a lot of chords with the help of Mel Bay books, ha! But it wasn't going anywhere. It wasn't enough. So many years later, now in my forties i came across Steve's guitar course. I told myself, i'm going to stick to it this time and wow!!!! What an adventure it has been. Now after completing the course I see now this is just one step in many more to come. So much more to learn. I can't get enough. I've since moved on to learning chicken picking, slide, and trying to emulate the pedal steel and fiddle sounds on the guitar. Also, I would like to thank all of the people on this site. This is truly a great family. Thank you guys and gals! I made a recording for session 20. I found a song I could Incorporate the B &E drone sounds. The song is called "Don't Ya", by Brett Eldredge. I left out some of the vocals so you could possible hear the B and E drone sounds. Again, Thank you all! Remember, Never give up and never stop learning! Danny

  8. Sessions 10 to 20 are "tools" for your bag as Steve calls them. They are not really one after the other like session 1 to 9 are. So you can step through each lesson above 9, how much of a "master" of each lesson is your choice Yes there are a lot of chords for jazz as you are expanding the voicings of chords. Steve introduced more than 30 shapes in his fret board workout series. I highly recommend his Jazz work out. https://gx169.infusionsoft.app/app/storeFront/showProductDetail?productId=151 For $25 it's worth the money to work on jazz chords.

  9. Curtis - You won't regret it - you will have a blast. Pick out a seat up front, learn as much as you can, and meet as many fellow players as you can. The folks on this forum are even nicer in person! Looking forward to seeing you in June!

  13. Relax, take it easy. You don't need to work that hard. Don't be so hyper-focused that you miss out on the joy of playing guitar. Guitar is not a strength activity. You need a firm grip on the pick, but you don't need a death lock. The same goes for your fretting hand. You need the correct amount of pressure in the correct location to make your guitar sing. Have fun with it!

  14. Hi Amy, I converted your video file to an audio file and sent that to you as an attachment to a pm. I use WinX HD Video Converter Plus to convert files. Simple and Cheap. But I don't know if it is available on Mac. I use Windows. Ron ps. I went back and looked and it is cross platform (Windows and Mac)

  15. That's really great and interesting, thank you. I believe you DO get a lot of credit, even though BenBob started it. I'm also glad to hear that "winners" are from dice rolls and not a talent contest. Sure, I'm happy to let you cross reference to there, though I don't see an easy way to convert it to audio only without downloading extensions and new programs and I want to keep things very simple and easy. I have more free time in November and December than any other time of year. I'm not sure what taking up space on forum login means, or how to use sound cloud. I do think the mac lets me easily make a sound file and I'll get to learn how large the different file types are and how much space is available. Happy New Year!

  18. Here is my offering "I Love the Wintertime" It is an original composed, played and sang by me using all real instruments except the drums and the sea waves sound (see below). I actually used a ukulele to do the bass (a Kala Rumbler UBass). This track was composed using "Sea Waves" audio recording (Attribution 3.0) by Mike Koenig http://soundbible.com/885-Sea-Waves.html. I used an EQ to take out some of the lower frequencies so that it would fit well into my composition. ??Merry Christmas Everyone??, I hope you have a great day whatever you are doing.

  19. Here's a couple of practice session recordings. Recorded on my iPhone, then added a little reverb and adjusted the EQ in Garage Band. Merry Christmas to all!

  22. Hi Danny, that is an absolutely interesting sound you are creating here. It makes me think of pedal steel guitar. Beautiful and original rendition. I have listened to it several times. Thanks for sharing. Wim.
