This month's theme is courtesy of @Oldjock Theme: Couldn't Stand The Weather Description: I would like to suggest the theme for the February challenge be "the weather". Any song with heat, cold, wind, storms or the heroic struggles of people dealing with the weather. Deadline: 11:59 PM PST February 28, 2019 1. @WATSON43 - "Here Comes the Sun" ------------------< RULES >-------------------------SUBMITTING: To complete the challenge, record an eligible song and reply to this thread with your your direct-linked or embedded track (Soundcloud's great) before the end of the month.GUITAR REQUIREMENT: You must play at least one real guitar track heard in the mix.GEAR: All content must be recorded with your home studio equipment. You may use BIAB or loops as long as you play the majority of the song with your real guitar. This is a guitar playing challenge not a sampling/recording challenge so keep that in mind.TIME: A recording made at any time before the entry deadline counts, but do not enter a recording in more than one challenge.ONE ENTRY per person or collaboration. But, I doubt anybody will complain if you want to share another on-theme track too.NEXT THEME: The person to choose next month's theme will be chosen randomly from those who complete this challenge. -----------------------------------------------------Have fun, try something new, and give us something to listen to!

Members Recordings - Songs, Lessons, Open Mic!
UncleHammy replied to NeilES335's topic in Guitar Playing & Technique
I wish I could take credit for thinking of the Monthly Recording Challenge but it was started by a member with ID BenBob. I haven't seen him on the forum for about 3 or 4 years so I took it over about 3 years ago. The idea was to share member recordings in a central thread. Each month the previous month's "winner" picks the theme for the next moth. By winner I mean random participant picked by dice roll. In my experience I have learned a lot from participating in the challenge. I have not played much lately because of lack of time and hand pain but when I do participate I try to find a song that matches the theme and also has elements of what I am working on for skill development. I have enjoyed it over the years. Some months we will have lots of entries 7 to 10 other months we have only 1 or 2. Everyone is welcome to post no matter the level of their play. Some of the members are pros others are beginners. The main thing I like is it gives me a chance to learn new songs that I like. As for posting format, there are no rules. Videos are welcome. I think most people use Soundcloud because a post from there does not take up space on there forum login. Hope to hear from you soon. -

Great job @Amy Greenblatt would you mind if I cross post it into the Monthly Recording challenge thread? This month is winter holiday songs and this would fit in perfectly. -

The 13 Best Blues Guitarists in the World (right now).
UncleHammy replied to matonanjin's topic in Guitar Open Talk
Joe is undoubtedly #1. Mark Knoffler #3? He is the most versatile guitarist on the list but IKD if I would call a majority of his music blues. Don't get me wrong I live his music and you can always tell it is him, and that counts for a lot. What about Walter Trout? -

48/49. Missed that last one. They tried to trick us with John Rutsey. -
I just saw that too. We watched Hee Haw every Saturday at 6 when I was growing up.
