  1. If I called my guitars anything, it would be "Patient". Patient for putting up with my attempts to play them.........

  2. I could watch it on Hulu and watched it last night. I almost forgot about it but fortunately @Dan Brown sent me a text just before it was set to air and reminded me! It was excellent, at least in my opinion. It will be interesting to see others' opinion. The whole Pattie Boyd episode of his life went a little too long in my opinion. I fully realize she is pivotal to the Layla project and the album "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs". It just went a little too soap opera and could have been shortened. A minor quibble. It should be required viewing for any Clapton fan or for any blues fan actually. An interesting reminder how the blues were brought back to the US by EC and the rest of the "British Invasion". I don't know that I learned anything about Clapton that I didn't already know as a result of reading his autobiography. But it was an entertaining 2 hours and I highly recommend it.

  3. That's a great looking guitar. I might even spring for one of those if I see one pop up on ebay. I think they're great guitars. The only disappointment for me was the tuners but that was easily sorted with an inexpensive set of Wilkinsons. Such good fun to play I have a bit of a thing for lower end guitars. I love to tweak them until they're awesome. Something I'd be very reluctant to do on a $2000 Gibson. I can see myself acquiring one of those SL's actually. I reckon it would be great with some P90s in it.

  4. This is, in essence, how I eventually want to play. I just love the style. I realize there are two guitars but even when Tommy plays alone it sounds like two guitars!

  6. @Steve Krenz Hey Steve, I hope you don’t mind. Since the stickies get dismissed or will expire, and we may miss your “Guitar Video of the Day,” I thought I’d create a thread to collect them. I may not be online every single day, so anybody please feel free to add Steve’s current video to this thread. Yesterday’s video was fun to watch. Jack and Brent were great. By the way, the guy on bass Roy Vogt has an excellent video course called “Teach Me Bass Guitar.”

  8. I would use BrightandClean and SurfinInStereo. There is just enough delay used on one (or both) that panning one half way to the left and the other half way to the right they have a nice stereo separation, slightly jangly, reminding of The Byrds, and that would leave the centre free for rkl312's vocal to sit unhindered.

  10. Matonanjin, I agree, I thought it was an excellent documentary! What really added to it, in my view, is that Clapton, Pattie Boyd, Bobby Whitlock and family members were doing the actual narrative. What really blew my mind was when Clapton said something along the lines of not wanting to commit suicide because then he couldn't drink anymore ! Holy Moly !!! To echo what Ron said, a must watch if you are a Clapton fan, or just a Flower Child like us !!! Dan Brown

  11. OK folks I just could not resist doing the rhythm guitar. I turned down the Bass guitar for the verses in my mixes. Lets have some fun with it! I have 3 versions here, the same guitar track but with different amp simulations on GarageBand. They are the Cool Jazz Combo, Bright and Clean and Surfing' in Stereo. The question is...........Which one should we use? GG1 CoolJazzCombo.mp3 GG1 BrightandClean.mp3 GG1 SurfinInStereo.mp3

  12. Hey Ice9 my profile picture is of my Epiphone LPS ii plustop. I do not play it much but it looks nice on my wall! I thought about selling it once but it is such a nice looking thing that I just could not do it, I am glad that I have kept it. Perhaps one day I will do some work on it myself.

  13. This summer I'm getting involved in some open mic jams and I wanted an inexpensive lightweight guitar to take to them, so I recently bought an Epiphone Special ii LP. It did need a little work so I swapped out the tuners (which admittedly are useless) and the nut. I also levelled and recrowned the frets but that's something I do on nearly every guitar I buy. I had a set of pickups ready to install in it but decided not to in the end as the stock ones were actually pretty good. These low end Epiphones are great for the money they cost.

  14. Thanks all. I do have the Apogee jam as well and the adapter looks like a great idea. Greg

  15. Jack was a featured guest at last year's Guitar Gathering. What an amazing evening for all the attendees as he is a wizard with the guitar and was a wonderful interview for the students. So nice to see others recognize his contributions with this honor. Greg

  16. Someone over at our previous home, in a similar thread, turned me on to V Picks. I never thought I would like a thick pick. Now I can't use anything but a V Picks Screamer.
