  1. @IOM Sammy The pins are the same and you don't need to use any special tool to ream the whole. Bend a 1/2 inch at ball end like Blue Dog stated. Slotted side of pin towards the string. Push down on the pin while pulling up on the string will set it. The rest is just string tension.
  2. I have watched a lot of Phillip's videos recently. He seems to be knowledgeable, honest, and an overall good guy. If you are looking for info and reviews on gear check him out. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEzJtFWNg7d7TZW7K9JyXmw
  3. @Plantsman13 The $8.99 version from Musicians Friend looks a lot like the one I purchased, but mine had a couple of the little applicators. I am not really sure what I paid because I bought it so long ago, and it is still going. Definitely recommended during every string change, and you can use it on your tuners also.
  4. I don't know where you saw that price. Guitar Center has one for $44.99 which is also a rip-off. I see it's the "Giant" lubricator if you want to lube your car. I bought it from Sweetwater, and it was well worth the money at $15.99. My little syringe is still going after years of use. A little dab will do you. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/NutSauce--big-bends-nut-sauce-in-groove-luber-1.5cc-tuning-lubricant?mrkgcl=28&mrkgadid=3251365098&rkg_id=0&utm_source=MSN&utm_medium=PPC&utm_campaign=aaShopping - Core - Guitars&utm_term=ProductType3=guitar cleaning & careBrand=&campaigntype=shopping&campaign=aaShopping - Core - Guitars&adgroup=Guitars - Guitar Accessories&placement=bing&creative=78271523959160&device=c&matchtype=e&msclkid=7d41dc0320d1166ecbe487366afd4da0 Musician's Friend has one for $8.99. I don't what is with these crazy prices. https://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/big-bends-lil-luber-ultra-nut-sauce-applicator/421531000000000?cntry=us&source=3WWRWXMP&msclkid=c49d43344c011e9e5f1f1801069d4652&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=[ADL] [MF] [Non-Brand] [PLA] [US] [Enhanced] [Shopping] - Generic&utm_term=1100506610937&utm_content=PLA - Product Type&kwid=bingproductads-adid^13788109092-device^c-plaid^1100506610937-sku^421531000000000@ADL4MF-adType^PLA
  5. I just received my hard copy this week. I enjoy Wood & Steel as much as any paid subscription.
  6. @Plantsman13 D'Addario seems to take customer satisfaction very seriously. You are the second forum member who received free strings from D'Addario customer support.
  7. Songs in the Song Hits are geared towards specific sessions. Pretty Woman is for Session 8 so yes it is possible Steve chose an easier way to play it.
  8. Another thing I do is set the saddles in the middle (neutral) position so I can move in either direction.
  9. @Plantsman13 Do you mean NYXL? NYXL are not coated, but they are excellent strings. I have used them for several months and I am a convert. I recommend Big Bends Nut Juice anytime you change your strings because it improves string movement through the nut. Some use pencil graphite, but Big Bends is superior. It might make your G string work more efficiently.
  10. Hi Bryan, Collings makes some great guitars. Did you put new strings on the guitar? Did you use Big Bends Nut Juice during the string change because it really helps. Yes you definitely measure from the bottom of the string. Greg has his own thread in this same section. Just look for the Greg Voros setting. I did the same thing and Greg will never see your post.
  11. Thanks for the reply. I checked Big Bends they have some very expensive products. I use the Big Bends Nut Juice at each string change. Fortunately, I have quite a bit of polishes and fretboard conditioner left. I put this question in the wrong section so I moved it.
  12. Hi Greg, What products do you recommend now that Professor Green's is out of business?
  13. A series of videos with Justin Sandercoe to give you a different perspective on practicing and playing.
  14. Yes you can! You greatly underestimate how much you can play at session 9. Don't be surprised if you can show your friends a thing or two. Put away the sheet music for a little while. Play what you know. Use those jam along CD's. I was jamming with some new people this weekend at a party. One of the players goes to live mic nights every month. He played almost everything in C so it was easy to keep up. We played for hours, and had fun!
  15. Don't practice what you are already good at. If you are not struggling then you are not learning.

  17. I also have a whole house humidifier in the same room with the guitars during the winter to keep humidity in the 40-50% range..
  18. @matonanjin I have read the A/C will remove more moisture if it the fan is run at slower speeds. The slow speed allows more moisture to be removed because the air moves slowly across the condenser. I am not sure how much the difference is, but it seems to make sense.
  19. @Dave White It is interesting that you have low humidity because of using A/C. I have read many recommendations for A/C during summer because of high humidity. Your wife must be keeping it cool, frosty that is. Everyone that wants to protect acoustic guitars should have a portable hygrometer and do what is necessary to keep there guitars in the 40%-60% range. Short periods of damp or dry are not a problem, but sustained extremes will damage guitars. Electric guitars are tougher, but they need protection too.
  20. @colder I use the D'Addario "Planet Waves" which also need to have water added every couple days in the winter. I don't think you need to use distilled water. The Sahara Desert has average annual humidity of 25%, but my house is in the low teens during heating season. I also use the Humidpak. The system seems to work well, but it is expensive. They recommend changing the paks every couple of months, but they seem to last much longer. The risk being with age they could potentially rupture.

    Face in the Mirror

    Well played, and well told.
  22. There are also things like the SANS amp. You often see large refrigerator size cabinets with many plug in boards that handle amplification and effects. Many acts use the in-house sound system for amplification. I read an article many years ago which showed massive towers of speakers which were actually empty. They were just mock-Marshall stacks with no actual speakers to give the visual impression of the old style setups.
  23. She has to be using some kind of amp. You can't just walk on stage without amplification.
