  1. I hope this month Has as many contributors as last month, what a great turnout! Thanks for taking the time to keep it going uncle hammy and thanks for this months challenge Watson43. I Hope this is ok.. it’s an electro-nylon played through a Roland mobile AC amp. The audio was recorded live outdoors, direct to the mics of a Zoom H4n. The loop was created live on a boss RC3. It’s a little promo vid I made for my wedding services. It was recorded in my garden a couple of weeks ago. There are lots of timing mistakes, bum notes, and I even wandered off at one point. But you don’t have to be perfect for people to enjoy what you do. ??? Mark

  2. Let's start at the beginning, with item 1. Full stops (UK), periods (US) or dots (if you prefer) indicate the start of a new bar, written that way so that you know that, for example, D and A on the first line are beats 1 and 3 of the second bar (or measure). 4/4, key of A, 124bpm Intro (4 bars): .A .D A .A .E A Chorus (8 bars): .A .D A .A .E A .A .D A .A .E A Verse: .C#m .F#m .Bm .E .C#m .F#m .Bm .E Chorus: .A .D A .A .E A .A .D A .A .E A Instrumental verse: .C#m .F#m .Bm .E .C#m .F#m .Bm .E Chorus: .A .D A .A .E A .A .D A .A .E A Refrain: (the last line of the chorus repeated twice): .A .E A .A .E A Closing chord (to match the drum track): .A

  3. And what you should do UncleHammy is have one of the mods close the Monthly Challenge each month so people can't post late . But I have been meaning to contribute something for a long time. Day Tripper by the Beatles. This is definitely "The Old". The band that I played in that I posted the picture of played this. So it really took me back. The "New" is I have been trying to learn this for decades (or what seems like). Started working this in The Song Hits. Steve, of course, gave me the basics, the riff and the rhythm. Then I found a couple of sources for the bridge and solo. The backing track is from Karaoke Version. It is not where I would like it. But I came in from the barn, hence the clothes, and recorded it and I'm moving on. Probably to "Oh, Pretty Woman". The B chord (going from the C# to the B) in the chorus didn't ring clearly. I missed at least one note in the solo and towards the end I really got behind the beat. But here it is. Warts and all. Played with the new PRS, into a POD HD500X (with overdrive and a little chorus) into Fender Blues Jr. The backing track is played on the Boss Eband JS-10.

She has written her 1st song ( age 13) that I will be recording and we will be collaborating on Free Falling soon, Tom Petty. Three children, 4 grandkids and I finally have one that plays music...and sings beautifully. Fun stuff. Greg Nothing better than family!

  5. Hello @rkl312, thank you for offering to join in. ?? I will put you down for vocals and lyrics. With this being our first Guitar Gathering collaboration I am thinking that I should have posted some more information about it. So here it is for you and everyone else who is interested. This collaboration is about us getting together to have some fun and to learn from each other as all musicians do. We are not in this to produce a hit record, but I do not rule out that possibility!? I joined in with my first collaboration back on the old L&M forum. I was scared when I first joined in, I admit that. But Fretless, who was running it at the time and the other people who were working on that collaboration were really great to me. I had volunteered to do the rhythm guitar track and in the end I only managed 1 strum per bar and I had problems getting my track exported in a usable way. Those guys helped me so much and they were really kind to me and if I remember rightly we turned out a great song. It was these collaborations that launched me into doing my own songs. I am and will always be eternally grateful to them. Here is a link to my first collaboration (look for "yellow" that was me!) https://community.learnandmaster.com/index.php?/topic/34563-lmg-student-collaboration-16-an-instrumental-song/ We do not have to have top notch fully busy guitar parts/tracks, it is the sum of the parts that people will be listening to. Sometimes less is more. The fun thing about doing these collaborations is watching it all come together! We are all musicians, let's make music! ??????

  6. Well this isn't the song that I planned to post this month but I am running out of time and when I tried to record that song today it is nowhere near ready. So I decided to post this instead. This was me playing in the student showcase at the 2016 Guitar Gathering. Steve gave me a very long intro including a plug for this thread. I actually start playing about, 4:30. Paul Opitz (@Opie) recorded and posted it. I hope everyone can open the link. The audio isn't great and I made a flub, but I really wanted to get something posted this month. Hope you enjoy it.

  7. Let's work together as the Guitar Gathering Community to write and record a song. It will be a team effort and anyone at any level is welcome to join in the fun. I will pick up any tasks that do not get volunteered for. The production tasks (please volunteer for tasks shown in black) 1) Fretless has Chosen a tempo, time signature, key and a song structure with bars and chords. 2) Nutty1 has produced a drum track. 3) Nutty1 has recorded a bass track. 4) Nutty1 has recorded a rhythm guitar track. 5) rkl312 will do the lyrics and choose the song title. 6) rkl312 will record the vocals. 7) Fretless will do the lead guitar track. 8) Nutty 1 provided intermediate mixes to enable collaborators to record their parts. Fretless did the final mix. Please note Please do not negatively criticise others' contributions; this is a learning opportunity open to all Guitar Gathering Forum members. This collaboration has now been completed. We ended up making this song called "Don't Look Back" https://m.box.com/shared_item/https%3A%2F%2Fapp.box.com%2Fs%2Fo7xa5g0aao2akfjbrwew18ux8s4erug1

  9. It has been brought to my attention, thank you @bruster, that some members are pinning their exact address/location on the member map. We want to know where members are from. It is fun/interesting to see our membership from around the world. But it is probably good enough to narrow the location down to city and state/country. When I first pinned my location I was asked if I want to use my current location and I answered "Yes". It put the pin right on my house. A couple days later I rethought this and moved the pin to somewhere in Omaha. I'm not even sure where I have it. I hope I'm in a nice neighborhood. The member map is only accessible to members. So perhaps I'm suggesting excess caution. But if you have the pin right on your house you may want to consider moving it. And, obviously, it is entirely your decision how precise you want your pin to be. Should you decide to move it there is an easy option to do so.

  10. I have been looking for something really light for some time. After talking to a couple of the PRS owners on here, and talking with a few on other forums, I had decided that a PRS Hollowbody I or II was the guitar. I was already a huge believer in PRS guitars. I had looked at a couple on Reverb, at Chicago Music Exchange and elsewhere and made a couple offers but never ending up owning one. Last week my wife and I were in a local guitar shop and this one was hanging on the wall. Way up high where the nice ones are! The owner had to get it down! He handed it to me and my wife immediately said, "That is really pretty!" I played it and fell in love both with the way it played and the tone. My wife actually told me to make on offer on it but I didn't. I don't know why! I told her wanted to think on it. It has driven me crazy all week and I went back and brought it home tonight! It is feather light and has this gorgeous hollowbody tone. It has McCarty Humbucker Pickups. There is just no doubt at this point that this is going to be my "go to" guitar.

  11. Some weeks ago, I recorded an accoustic version of Misty. So I thought this would fit here as well.

  13. Very cool Mark, sounded silky smooth. Well done. From the video, it looks like you have it really rough over there Ian

  17. I will help but I have only written a couple of things and they were for my own enjoyment. So I hope this is also a team effort. As far as my vocal ability, that is certainly up for discussion! I guess I'm trying to say I'm shy and more than a little doubtful!

  19. Hi all! Well, having turned into a Tele fanatic, I've really wanted a Fender Custom Shop Tele. One popped up on Reverb, and the seller needed to raise cash quickly for something, so I was able to purchase this! It's a 2015 Custom Shop '63 Journeyman Relic in "faded candy tangerine." I'm not too high on relics, but this is very lightly relic'd. I did a quick recording this morning, the first one being with my '52 RI Tele and then the new CS Tele. This one has a little bit of that Tele twang in it, whereas the first one has a little more warmer tone. Okay, no more purchases for a while, unless I sell a few Gibby's or something.

  20. Sadly I'm a little short on talent to be much help. Maybe with vocals or lyrics. It's a great idea though. We could all go up to accept our Grammy next year.?

  23. I finally got to record me Peavey Classic 30. Here is a couple samples from my Sound Check. The first is just a simple rock rhythm I came up with last night. Maybe someday it will be a song, but for now it is what it is... The second track adds the Flashback Delay pedal. I am just improvising for the fun of it!!!
