My version of the Don McLean classic. This is based on an arrangement I found on You Tube posted by Tim Van Roy, who posts a lot of instructional videos. The first time through, the verses and chorus are pretty much how he taught them, except for some fills. I made quite few changes to suit myself on the rest of the song, including playing parts of the third and fourth verses with harmonics a la Chet. This performance has quite a few warts, but I'm sick to death of it, lol, so it is what it is.

Well done Mike, many hours of practice have paid off in a beautiful rendition of a great song. You really nailed those harmonics, super job.

There are many on this forum that wishes they had that "many warts" in their recordings.

Cheers

@Mike Hoodenpyle Wow, Mike, that's just lovely. And those harmonics, exquisite. I loved it.

Vincent, the single, was the first record I ever bought and it continues to have a place deep in my heart.

Mike, your rendition carries all the emotion of the original. Well done indeed!

I'll echo the comments made by others - truly fantastic.   I had the pleasure of seeing Don McLean in person a few years back and love this song.        It's on my list of songs to learn.
