Some will notice, I was recently recruited to act as a volunteer co-moderator of this forum, a job which I'm happy to do along with my colleague Ron aka  @matonanjin .

You may have noticed some recent changes, such as files and topics moved or deleted due to duplication.  This will be an ongoing process along with being "on the lookout" for those whose views and motives for posting are not in line with our "Mission Statement". (About Us - below)

It is hoped that these changes will make the "Forum" a more enjoyable place for all members to use and learn from.

I would ask that before you post a Topic, please be sure to post it under the appropriate Forum, and check to be sure that you are not duplicating a previous post.

We welcome your positive suggestions and comments. If you do have a comment or suggestion please contact @NeilES335 or @Matonanjin by Personal Message.

Just a general FYI.... Guitar Open Talk is getting a bit too bloated... (wow over 2000 posts in a only 11 months here alone) so in order to keep things fresh, some old files will be deleted or moved.  Not wanting to too autocratic about it, If there is a topic you've posted here that you'd really like to have stay, please send me a PM.  I promise  that any good relevant material will remain if at all possible.

Live Lessons Forum has now been cleaned up and all lessons for the past year (2018) are now in chronological order for easy reference.

So now, you can scan the list of Live Lessons, find one that interests you, and access it directly from the Guitar Gathering site link to our YouTube Channel.

Lesson Sheets ".pdf" s , as applicable are attached to each lesson and may be downloaded there.

p.s. I'm looking for a solution to provide these Lesson Sheets in a central "cloud"  storage for easy access from any location, any time, without necessarily being logged into this site.

As most of you are likely aware, this upgrade has been completed, and all forums, chat etc appear to be functioning normally.

If you experience any issues with the site, you can send me a PM and I'll pass them along to Steve, who does the "behind the scenes" work.

Dear Fellow Members;

As many will know, its been my privilege to serve here in the moderator chair since the inception of this Guitar Gathering site in January 2018. Im proud to say Ive helped it grow from Zero to nearly 1700 members, and hope that I've been able to make some worthwhile contribution.

To be run well it requires regular (daily) attention.

I find now, that due to other commitments, it is necessary, for me to share the duties with another eminently qualified member.

Please join me in welcoming @DianeB as co-moderator!

Thanks, Neil, for all you do. It's needed. You are aware, I hope, that an organized desk is the sign of a sick mind. Just a joke. Lotsa luck. Best, John 😀

Hello Members:

As this site matures, and the number of posts grows to into the thousands, let's be aware of the amout of data and storage space we're using.

While I'm not privy to all the costs, I know from running my own website for business, that data space and maintence isnt cheap. As we're a free membership site, it's Steve that pays for it himself.

I'm not suggesting you limit or refrain from posting, far from it! We want a vibrant and helpful community.

I'm am suggesting we be aware and if you have a personal message or quick comment to someone, to use this feature, or a sticky note more often.  It would make the posts more interesting to read, and reduce what soon becomes clutter.

I hope this makes sense to you all...

All the Best! Neil

Hello Members

Well our site continues to grow and become a valuable resource for all manner of guitar learning and music questions and comments. We appreciate and encourage your participation. It is that time of year again to "Clean house" however, and as, such you may noticd some now irrelevant posts are no longer there, or others have been moved to a more appropriate Forum or topic.

We ask that in order to keep things tidy as possible, that you be sure you're posting in the MOST APPROPRIATE FORUM for your topic or subject material.  And although no-one will scold you to severely if you stray off topic, please try to stick to the point!

All the Best; study hard and play well

Neil

Everybody, apparently my mailbox was full.  Sorry!  A member on here tried to leave a message and got the notice.  Fortunately, he and I also text and he alerted me to this.

So if you have tried to send me an obscene, nasty message the last couple days, you can now!  This forum typically runs so smoothly, largely due to my co-conspirators @NeilES335 and @DianeB, that I don't know what you could have been trying to reach me about.

But if you did try, sorry.  I have done some housekeeping and there is room now.

I've discovered that the "Recent Status Updates" frame on the main page has a mind of its own. I deleted Mike's (Popeye's) birthday message for me (I love ya, Mike, but who wants to see that every day?), only to find it was replaced by one of Steve's old LL blurbs. Deleting that only displayed the next, even older blurb from Steve. I give up. 🤨

@DianeB Hi Diane; I see that you've discovered navigating and editing this site in it's current configuation is a "challenging" task... Moving, organizing and deleting posts can (and often does) result in some inintended results. I confess this happened to me recently while trying to organize the Monthly Recording Challenge and accidentally deleted the December topic entirely prompting a mini-investigation by several members into what happened...oops. Apperently these deletions are not recoverable either.... (Sorry to @Nutty 1 and other contributors...

Have fun with the editing!   The site could use it...🙂

Regards; Neil
