  1. Neil that is a beautiful song. It won't take long to learn the lyrics because the will be embedded into the heart before reaching the brain. Ten years ago, I lost my best friend to cancer. At the funeral, a soloist sang this song and there wasn't a dry eye in the church. Henk
  2. One of the strongest epoxy's I have used is primarily used to build golf clubs. I can be purchased at most golf supply stores. If the glue can hold the golf club together during the golf swing, it will hold almost anything. Henk
  3. I completely agree with Neil and Doug, that the guitars should be seen and close at hand. But a cabinet with glass front doors will give me the best of both worlds. Henk
  4. Well done Ian, enjoyed the song. What are you using for the percussion track? Henk
  5. Bryan, thanks for posting the article. A good reminder of what needs to be done to protect our instruments. Absolutely love that guitar case in the opening photo, it's something I have been considering for a while. I now have a vision of a winter workshop project. Henk
  6. Neil, what a wonderful opportunity. Glad to see that you made the most of it. Once someone gets past the fears of playing live, they have a renewed enthusiasm for learning. Henk
  7. Very nice Randy. Great to see you playing again. Love that song. Henk
  8. Thank you all for the kind comments. Three and a half years ago when I started the L & M journey, Never having touched a guitar in my life. I was excited but also concerned about how this new endevour would last. It has been the camaraderie of the participants on this forum which has kept me interested in improving. I realized that we all have the common goal of becoming guitar players and hopefully I could just blend in. Thank you all and especially Steve K. Henk
  9. Six string, I agree 100%. We must be sailing the same boat. Henk
  10. Shakey, that's a beauty. I have my eye out for a semi hollow body, just love the tone. I see many hours of enjoyment in your future. Henk
  11. @fluidguitar“Need to know music theory to play?”. I agree with the previous comments but my theory is that we all want to be the best that we can be. The L & M course is complete with theory and songs. It would be a waste to ignore it. You may have the ability to fly a plane but you must also understand the principles of flight. Henk
  12. Trying the video link again. https://youtu.be/z29MYGp8Mss
  13. Last night our "band" played at our annual baseball team BBQ. We have been practicing once a month and put together a set list which we thought everyone would enjoy. After last years show, everyone had asked for song sheets. so they could sing along. Some of the neighbors came over to see what the racket was and stayed for the party. This is the first time that my buddies would allow me to sing a song, so I have attached the video. This is our set list: Stuck in the Middle With You Medley: Stand by Me, Under the Boardwalk, Sloop John B Fiddler's Green Bad Moon Rising Peaceful Easy Feeling City of New Orleans Cooperhead Road Hasn't Hit me Yet Wagon Wheel I don't think we would ever challenge the likes of Blue Rodeo but we sure had a lot of fun and laughs. 14. Fantastic, having the Grandkids playing together with Grandpa is the ultimate band. The kids will always remember that it was Grandpa who took the time to help them learn. Good luck and I can't wait for this first recording. Henk
  15. Atta boy Greg, you're having way too much fun. Henk
  16. Happy Birthday Steve! Thank you for helping me chart a new direction in my life. Henk
  17. Fantastic Ian, you are an inspiration to us all. Henk
  18. Tough one Randy, maybe a few weeks of rest will give you a bit of a break. Your will return refreshed and raring to go. Hope for a speedy recovery. Henk
  19. A band's success is dependent on team work. Each plays a small part to provide a finished song for the entertainment of others. I think that if I was in your position, with band mates pushing their own agenda, I would be looking for a new band. Harsh, but that's the way I see it. If I'm not having fun, bye bye. Henk
  20. I have the LoudBox Mini and love it. I use it with acoustic and electric. Especially love the light weight to top perfomance. After the initial use with the electric, I felt it had a twangy sound, not as smooth as the acoustic sound. I mentioned this to the salesman at L & M and he told me it was a common issue which was resolved by using a Boss CS-3 Compression/sustain pedal. It worked like a charm and sounds great. An added bonus was using the pedal with the acoustics, giving the output a more balanced sound. I know the sound reception from the amp to my damaged ears is subjective but this seems to work for me. Henk
  21. Happy Birthday Ron, any presents?? Henk
  22. Good for you Six, great job. That was a nice song set. Henk
