  2. Greg, You might try something just one exit up at I-65 and Old Hickory Blvd. There are a lot of restaurants in that area. There is a Holiday in Express, Hampton Inn, Four Points by Sheraton and others. - Steve

  5. A few months ago, the week between Christmas and New Years, I was feverishly researching discussion boards. Our old discussion board, was on life support - hopelessly out of date and non-functional due to factors beyond my control. So, it was way past time for a new board. After a bit of researching of other guitar discussion boards I couldn't find any that seemed bright, colorful, friendly and helpful. After a lot of research, a good investment of resources and some technical help this board was born. I wish I would have taken a picture of the board when it was first setup. All it said was one topic "Test Forum" with one post "This is a test forum." Everything else you currently see here - pictures, menus, tabs, videos, chat was painstakingly purchased and added to create a great place for us all. After a week or two of work it was ready to open the doors to our beta -testers - about 15 of our guitar family that came in and ruthlessly tested out every imaginable feature. And for a glorious week or so it was just the 15 of us in here. We'd come home after work and check in on the board, testing this or that, and chatting in the chat. I'm so thankful for that group. Then, after another week or so, we opened up the doors and today we added our 1000th member. I'm quite thrilled with our new little home. It's what I wanted - bright, colorful, friendly and helpful. I can go on here most any time, day or night, and start chatting with someone learning guitar. I've got lots of plans for more things but I'm so thrilled at how this is turning out and so honored to be among you all. Thanks, Steve
  6. Rick, So glad this worked. Hope all is well! - Steve
  7. Love it. Can't believe I just stumbled upon this great thread. I'll try and post a pic of the group I'm playing with tomorrow at church. Here's a clip from the choir special a few weeks ago on a Sunday I was playing... - Steve

  9. Great resource. Thanks Matononjin, - Steve
  10. I'd start the Major Scale Mastery: Level 1 around Session 8 or so of the main course. Major Scale Mastery assumes that you already know your notes and have a basic understanding of what a scale is. Hope this helps and learn all you can! - Steve
  11. Ha! Well, I'm not really sure. What forms are you using? Perhaps you can put up a recording of you playing them both. - Steve

  17. Tuesday February 13th, 2018 Topic: Chords: Better, Faster, Stronger 7pm Central Time US You can watch the lesson HERE. Chord playing is the heartbeat of guitar playing. But many players are stuck knowing only the Basic Open Chords - C-G-D etc. This live lesson will guide you through knowing chords more fully - giving you some new forms and some tips on getting more from the forms you already know. Plus, I'll be talking about how to speed up changing between chords. Please download THE CHORDS YOU NEED TO KNOW Chord Charts. As always, there will be lots of music, laughs, giveaways and more. I look forward to seeing you there! Watch on our Guitar Gathering YouTube Channel HERE - Steve
  18. Bernhard, Yes, you are exactly correct. I knew that the violin was tuned in fifths. But David said the order in reverse (E-A-D-G) like the bottom four strings of a guitar so it confused me there for a second. So, as you know, when the order is E-A-D-G, those notes are all a fourth from each other. But, in actuality, it's the inverse of that. G-D-A-E which would correctly be in 5ths. The mystery explained! - Steve

  23. I wanted to share a bit about my preparation for this lesson. David called and gave me about 6 or so songs he wanted to reference tonight. The songs were "San Antonio Rose" by Bob Wills, "I'll be there" by Johnny Bush, "Faded Love" by Bob Wills, "Wine me Up" by Faron Young, "Slide off Your Satin Sheets" by Johnny Paycheck, "The Other Woman" by Ray Price, and "Pass Me By " by Johnny Rodriguez. It's been strangely emotional preparing for this live lesson. Few know this, but when I was growing up in Texas there was only one kind of music playing - country music like these songs. I quite literally have not listened to these songs since middle school yet I heard them so much around our house then I remember them clearly. It's like opening up a time capsule to then. See you tonight. Steve
  24. Yes, yes, yes. I stand by every word of this - even more so. - Steve
