  1. Here I thought I'd have Pretty Woman recorded by now for your Birthday cd.. Break a String!
  2. @Plantsman13 looks like my reply never made the save portion when I said 'let the guitar speak'.. I'm not talking sound by playing you can walk into a store and go nope there is nothing here and walk back out.. sometimes that happens in 30seconds or less. we are visual people first and audio people second. the colour and wood grain .. they will stand out first and attract. (same thing that attracts people to cars) next would be sound if you found one that is visually appealing . if you can't play the sales personnel are usually more than willing to show you what they can play and the sounds of the guitar. these people are not allow to just sit around and play.. so when the get a chance to "to help the customer" they're more than happy to play. sales person playing a couple of different guitars you'll start to hear the guitar with your ears, not just your eyes. last hold the guitar so you can physically feel the size and shape of it.. you may like Mexican music.. but have you ever tried to hold a Gutarrion. Beginner guitars on Craig's List are there for a reason.. and not just because they gave up on playing guitar.
  3. Take her to the store. Let the guitar talk to her. That's the one to buy. (Note you may have to walk into the same guitar store for a couple of months till one talks to her, I know that's how it works for me)
  4. Sounds good, too bad I have so many resources now, i can't do them all. Hope someone enjoys this
  5. this is what it's all about.. to stand up and be heard.
  6. Steve doesn't hand the info over in the higher lessons like he did with sessions 1 to 9. Session 11 Pentatonic and Session 13 would have covered most of the notes above position 5. Why . They are more than just memorize these 5 patterns. Catch is to say the note played while playing the pattern And Steve does say play those in all the scales as well not just his C scale example. Can I do this no... but it will come. As for power chords riff. It's all about doing that 5th up to the 6th "standard " power chord shuffle. I'd have to relook at the lesson to see what you're referring to on reading the notes
  7. You've entered into a club of retired. Enjoy every note
  8. I'd like to hear the vocals just a little more up in the mix.. but that's just me.. overall sounds great
  9. Much later and indirectly are notes in the 5th position and higher are not really covered. Semi covered in the pentatonic scales but notes are not named in the session 11 pentatonic scales You will learn 6th string and 5th string notes in session 7 and 8 as they are your root notes for barre chords.
  10. Right +1 what Neil said. I'll have to get around to watching this, watched the student showcase though
  11. If you have to pencil the note names in on the page if you're using a paper book. Once comfortable start erasing the notes. You'll find this helpful once the note is below the ledger lines
  12. As I said above, your arm is polishing the top, my cedar top S&P does it as well. As for the nic, enjoy each one, means you love your guitar.
  13. check out some of the 'back issues' for Live Lessons.. there is a few flat picking shows and here is one Travis Picking with Thom Bresh
  14. Some day I wouldn't mind doing a band gig. Glad it came together
  15. My opinion is, Your arm is polishing the surface giving it a glossy look to the rest of the guitar. The corner of my Simon and Patrick has a similar polished look
  16. My fingers and brain are stuck at 86bpm 16th notes But I wish Steve would make a Blues one
  17. Steve my cable connection to the street is defective.. sometimes working sometimes not; TV & internet.. goes down without warning. had the cable guys in yesterday around 11am.. of course it's up and running.. they puttered around for about 2hrs.. cut a couple of ends of cables off and reconnected. last night 9pm down. . I'm sitting at about 20% up right now.. next appointment is 8am Wed.. I'm not sure how my connection will be on Tuesday night for LL.. I might not be able to do much at all, won't know till that hour comes
  18. Rule of thumb playing live... Don't ever stop
  19. Baseball pitchers use ice on their arms between innings. When my hand gets warm the thumb and index tendons hurt, I Iceing helps, I'm still not successful on my thumb tendon yet
  20. Yes anything above a 314 is certainly very nice
  21. Wish I had an answer, I did the same thing on my church music trying to keep up to whatever the old guy was playing Of course I'm singing at the time and listening to the other singers as well as the musicians
  22. Also when you put the ball into the hole. Push your thumb on the pin when pulling the sting up with the other hand Helps seat the ball against the pin
  23. I'm happy and sad at the same time. Very happy it was a great Guitar Gathering for everyone Sad cause I'm not sure when I can attend another one.
  24. Dont know why I'm struggling with this written stuff (resisting). One thing for me on paper go Whole Whole Half, Its another thing for my fingers to play whole whole half. ?
