Greg Voros visits Premier Guitar to Discuss vintage Gibsons
matonanjin replied to Randy120's topic in Guitar Open Talk
Anyone that feels they need the different guitars for different needs (all of us?) should have one of these in the herd/stable. This is just one of those "must have" categories. As you probably know I have somewhat turned into a PRS Fanboy but as you said, @NeilES335, every time I play the guitar in my profile I go " thats a great guitar". A lot of people don't realize that when the Memphis division of Gibson came out with these, the "ES" stood for "Electric Spanish" and the "335" or "325" or "345", etc. was the manufacturer's suggested retail of the guitar. -
Congratulations @S Bach! Gorgeous guitar and you are going to play some great blues with that axe. I am reading this after watching a presentation by Paul Read Smith at Chicago Music Exchange. It was very interesting.

You will. It just takes time and practice. Lots of both. Keep us up to date on your process. -
Greg Voros visits Premier Guitar to Discuss vintage Gibsons
matonanjin replied to Randy120's topic in Guitar Open Talk
Thanks for the link, Randy. Three guitars of similar vintage year and construction. Yet, their conversation brought out the different personalities of the guitars. Really interesting. -
There are a few Boss eBand JS-10 users on here. Those of you that have one know, the user manual is multilingual and so huge. I downloaded the pdf of the manual and printed out just the English portion of it. I took that to a copy place and had it bound. This is much more usable. But I then lost it or thought I did. So I duplicated my steps. And, of course, shortly afterwards found the first one. So I now have two. If anyone on here would like my extra one, send me a PM. Of course, this going to be fcfs.

Session 6 - Minor Seventh & Suspended Chords
matonanjin replied to NeilES335's topic in Gibson's Learn & Master Guitar
I'm not sure I agree with that, Doug. You don't think there is occasion that calls for the open chord version? -
Session 6 - Minor Seventh & Suspended Chords
matonanjin replied to NeilES335's topic in Gibson's Learn & Master Guitar
HYA, this won't make you feel much better, I'm sure, but I think we all had difficulty with that chord. I sure did. It's a lot of fingers in a small area. It just takes a lot of practice developing the muscle memory getting those fingers to land in just that exact spot so the chord will ring clearly. It will come. -

And HERE is the line-up! -
@Dan Brown sent me this link by text when he saw the conversation. I was hoping he would post it here as well but I will. This guitar is not only a Dreadnought it has a Dreadnought on it! One gorgeous guitar. "The HMS Dreadnought was the largest battleship of the British Royal Navy and serves as the inspiration behind the name of the Dreadnought sized guitar. "

Combo amp for electric guitar & bass options
matonanjin replied to Jusca's topic in Guitar Gear, Amps, Effects, Pedals
Jusca, have you looked at a Fender Bassman? I have no idea what they cost these days nor what your budget is. " A growing number of musicians, however, were finding that the Bassman made a fine guitar and harmonica amp, too. " I used one when I played Bass in high school. I sure wish that I had kept it. I wonder what it would be worth now? -
Important Medical Public Service Announcement for Guitarists. If, after reviewing this test, you have symptoms do not consult your physician or healthcare provider. I suggest you immediately go to Chicago Music Exchange, your local guitar store, or online at Sweetwater😉😅 ps. I probably don't need to say this, but.......approaching 1700 members from around the world we have many languages and cultures. In case of a language barrier, this is not real. This is a joke. This is absolute bunk.

Mike, very, very nice. Very pretty and soothing. Thanks for sharing it.

Actually, Sandy, our friend John has written a book, a novel as I recall. I tried to find a link to it but failed. John must have posted about it over at the old forum. Hopefully he will get back to us here and post information on it again.

Does anyone have a Jamstack Guitar Amplifier? Does anyone know anything about it? Conceptually, it seems like a pretty good idea for a portable amplifier. Especially for traveling it seems like it would be ideal. If I understand the purpose or design one plugs your guitar into this and then run this into your phone. One uses an amp/effect app on your phone and your phone for the speaker. A couple of the reviews on this YT video are not very complimentary regarding the sound quality. But what kind of sound can one expect from a phone? But for $249 there are probably some better alternatives if the sound is very bad. I am going to travel to Chicago the week after next to visit grand-kids and am always, it seems, looking for a better way to travel and practice with guitar. Usually, I take my Boss eBand JS-10 and for now that is working. But, and possibly most importantly, it has been quite a while since I have frivolously wasted money on some guitar toy. I need to get back on track😉🤣 Anyone have any experience or heard reliable reports?

Really nice, Cap. Enjoyed it.

I remember seeing a tv show somewhere early in my learning about about guitars. I have no ideas now where it was: YouTube, NetFlix? but it explained how the large Gibson guitars were named "Dreadnought" after the battleship. I remember thinking how weird that was. I still think that. And I still don't know why they named it after the battleship. The documentary never did explain why; just the fact they did.
