  1. Ohhhhh that sounds superb! If you want to try something neat, increase your delay time to about 400ms and do 2 to 3 repeats and when you hit the last note of your run, slide the note either up or down the fretboard and let the note go. Then listen to the delay and repeats. If anyone does not know who Robben Ford is, or they don't have his stuff, please pick up "Talk To Your Daughter", and his frist record with the Blue Line "Robben Ford and the Blue Line". They are blues classics and are chock full of why Robben is so incredible. I got to meet him many, many years ago. I had a drink with him after his set where I saw him for the first time. Over and above his immense talent, he's an incredible human being.

  2. That is part of the journey, Not only learn by practicing but also learn how to practice. The 3 p's is a term I used to hear often when I was over at Gibson's Learn and master Patience, Practice, Persistence. And another I heard a lot From John Wells. Lotsa Luck

  4. no, there has been no one there to update any information.. I haven't signed on in years.. all old information.. if you had Version 1 of the course there still really isn't anything there that isn't here. in the first or second version of Steve's LMG forum they needed a medium to upload and share files. but since the number of forum changes, deemed not needed. wouldn't worry about it.

  5. Thanks Neil... So after a couple of days doing the research I have followed in your footsteps, ordered the same 2i2 and downloaded Reaper. My stuff is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. I Found Kenny Gioia on YouTube, he has some really good instructional videos on Reaper.

  6. @Dave White So a future guitar ad might be....Is it a prewar Martin, or is it a carbon fiber knock-off? ?

  7. Found this on Reddit. It's about chord functions and understanding them, something that really interests me, once I knew what he meant by chord functions. I'm very much into my songwriting, and I thought you would appreciate this also.

  8. Those are nice guitars @Magnit - I can see why you are gassing for one! I have owned a Composite Acoustics for a number of years and it is a great guitar to take on trips. I hate traveling with a wood guitar and worrying if it is getting too hot (or cold) if left in the car. Someday, someone is going to figure out how to tweak carbon fiber guitars to sound like any wood guitar. Want your carbon fiber guitar to sound like a prewar Martin, a '30s Gibson, etc. - no problem. They are not there yet (my Composite Acoustics is built like a tank, and very heavy) - but it will happen some day. They are already making significant progress with violins.

  9. Thanks for your nice words and useful comments, @Old Guy and @NeilES335. I did some post processing and added delay and reverb. Below is the new version. I think it sounds better indeed. Robben Ford on our Live Lessons! That's something to look forward to. I like his mix of blues and jazz. Take care. Wim.

  10. There does seem to be so many pedals you can buy, each of which would give you a little more expansion in the sounds you can get. It sounds like you're doing well in not obsessively spending on loads of pedals. I think you can get so much out of your limits. Setting limits helps me to find out what I can do with what I've got, and work around any obstacles with more of a creative mind, rather than buying more pedals to solve the issue.

  11. Don't worry about that. If playing at 65 bpm feels more comfortable - or natural - to you than 60, I say: good for you! I certainly wouldn't categorize it as a "problem". I encourage you to just keep practicing regularly. I'm sure that what may seem strange to you at this stage, will seem natural later on. I'm currently working my way through session 4, but it hasn't been that long since I was doing the exercises in session 2, where you are now. I remember how tricky it was to learn the first three to six notes. Now, my fingers react instinctively when I play the notes on the first four strings. I need some more repetitions before I can say the same thing about the notes on the fifth and sixth string, but I'm confident that these notes will feel as natural to play as the notes on the first four strings if I just keep at it. It's really true what they say: practice does the trick. Good luck with your endeavours! ?

  12. Keep up the good work. Mastering lessons takes a good amount of time. So I get myself well acquainted than move on. Going back to the previous lessons to improve them. It works for me. Glad your with guitar gathering community.

  13. I started the L & M Guitar course when I turned 60. Took me 18 months of solid work to complete it, no short cuts, just treated it like a college course and stuck with it. I avoided any other side tracts so as not to get distracted. It took six months to complete the Blues Spot Light course, and backed that up with "Blues Grooves" from Steve that I won on one of the live lessons and finished that one 2 months ago. The L & M Fingerstyle course was the hardest and that took me about 14 months to complete. I like that one so much I spent a year just learning classical music from "Classical for Guitar" that I also got from Steve. I figured if studying classical was good enough for Mark Knopfler it probably wouldn't hurt me to do the same. During that time I also finished the L & M Song Hits. I did not memorize them, just learned them to be able to play them with the printed music. Now, I am doing what I really wanted to do in the first place...learning rock and roll songs. So now after 4 and a half years I feel like I can play most any intermediate songs (classical, blues or rock) and now it really doesn't take that long to learn riffs. If I hear it (over and over LOL) I can figure it out. (Yes, it was worth it.) Still working full time as well. If I can do it, anyone can. You don't have to be gifted. The only week I don't practice every day is when I go to Chicago to a week long medical meeting after every Thanksgiving as I have for the last 32 years. If I behave, my wife might let me stop by the Chicago Music Exchange this time though. Good Luck to the rest of you on your own guitar journey. GH

  14. I've been working on the main Learn and Master course for quite a few years, probably 10 or so. I'm up to session 14 or so, but have dabbled with other courses along the way. Moved a few times (long distance) and that seemed to really derail my practice. Also got sidetracked a bit with other instruments, so my practice time got spread thin sometimes. Hoping to start the Fingerstyle course soon, but thinking I might want to just concentrate on the main course and get further along in it. One thing I know, is I am so grateful I found Steve's course all those years ago!

  15. I am a Gibson Learn & Master Guitar student since Dec. 2014. I had to Stop my Guitar Playing due to issues in Both Shoulder Rotators but I believe I am now Ready to Began My Guitar Learning Journey Again. I Progressed Very Well until the Shoulder Issues but I Love this Course and Steve Krenz is a MASTER GUITAR INSTRUCTOR. I plan to Master most of the Sessions in this Course and someday have the Ability to Play My Guitar Respectfully for Friends and Family. End of Year 2020 is my Current Completion Goal.
