  1. I think it is Tremolo. The effect isn't just at the beginning it comes up in a few other places.
  2. Nicely done Kevin. No need to shorten the song. Well played, nice harmonies, intimate recording makes it like being in the same room.
  3. Rik Emmett explains Triumph's song. Behind the Vinyl - Hold On
  4. @Nutty 1 Thank you! The background vocals can really be fun to do. You really need a good sense of timing. I listen closely to the original song to get the background parts in the right place. Backing vocals really add to the track. Have fun with it!
  5. Here is a new version of Tom Petty's "Learning to Fly". Learning to Fly
  6. Rik is one fine player, and a good instructor too. I have been a Triumph fan for a long time and I was fortunate to see Triumph in concert. Triumph the other Canada power trio. Hold On
  7. That is one fine looking SG. Have fun with it!
  8. Learning all the note positions takes time and effort. Three notes on a string along with learning the major, minor and pentatonic scales will absolutely help you learn the notes on the neck. You can also benefit from just learning the notes on the 5th and 6th string which act as a guide to where the same notes are on the other strings. I watched a video long ago where the instructor would just find all the C notes on every string then move to E or G. He could move through all the notes in seconds with no hesitation. It takes time and effort. I have worked on 3 notes on a string for months and I have no doubt my skills have improved. The video below also helped. DOUBLE Your Fretboard Knowledge With This ONE Exercise
  9. Steve had three Jazz for guitar books a few months ago. Jazz Guitar Volume 1 Nothing But the Blues for Jazz & Rock Guitar Volume 2 The II-V7-I Progression for Guitar Volume 3 These books are workouts in a sense. They explain the principals then they work your skills with backing tracks. They have you play along with the backing track with increasing speed and difficulty as you progress. Guitar isn't easy. Stay optimistic and keep pushing on. If you are stuck try something different for a while then come back later.
  10. @Nutty 2 Well it is a strange issue. I assumed it was a problem with Edge or some minor issue on my system. Since a reboot always solved the problem. So we are not alone and it probably is not your account. P.S. You can highlight any text you see on the screen and copy or paste just like in a word processor. If you can't select some text it is because it is embedded in a photo.
  11. @Nutty 2 Were you seeing the "Reply to this topic" prompt, but you couldn't type in the field? That is what I experienced. I assumed it was growing pains for EDGE. The Internet is moving to HTML5 which gives new capabilities, and some new problems which should improve eventually.
  12. @Nutty too What browser are you using? I have intermittent problem using EDGE were I can't type a reply or make a new post. I reboot the Windows 10 PC and it works. It doesn't happen often now, but I have seen it a few times. You can try Chrome or Firefox to see if they perform better. I have tried other browsers, but none of them worked flawlessly so I just keep using EDGE. I doubt your account is the problem. Try a reboot when the issue happens.
  13. I learned If from the Song Hits course. I have played If for several years now. I don't try to sing it because I am a little busy playing. The singer from Bread sings in a fairly high pitch that is out of my range. I have to thank Steve Krenz for the skills and knowledge he helped me attain over the last several years.
  14. @NeilES335 I agree we don't want any guitar players getting crushed because they are not paying attention to their environment. Watch those crosswalks people.
  15. Guy Plays Guitar While Walking to Work Now that's dedication.
  16. I have recorded acoustics many different ways. I have used stereo microphones with one pointed at the sound hole and one pointed at the 12th fret. I have used my Fishman Loudbox Mini DI (Direct) amplifier output because the sound is great. Finally I have plugged acoustics into my limited pedal selection (Chorus and Delay) directly into the audio interface which also had good quality. Microphones can be tough unless you have a very quiet area to record in, and playing loud enough for the microphones. Better microphones mean better recordings.
  17. Ideally, you use the strings the guitar was designed for. 10's are usually for electric guitars. You can use 10's, but they will not help in the long run, and they will negatively effect your tone. Pretty much every acoustic guitar uses Light (12's) or Medium (13's) strings. Eventually, you can adjust to any of these string gauges. Don't press so hard, and keep practicing.
  18. I have all the Fretboard Workouts. The workouts give you a great way to work on your physical skills. Speed and accuracy will be your rewards. The workouts also reinforce the different subjects to use guitar theory with real skills.
  19. @Tom D Good to see you are still playing. My finger still hurts when I do certain things. Playing guitar doesn't seem to aggravate the finger much. Keep working on that physical therapy.
