  1. Funny reading about the “ peeling” issue. Just noticed mine also starting to peel on the bottom edges. I have had it less than a year. Obviously this remains an issue with an otherwise fantastic piece of equipment. Greg
  2. I never asked but an interesting article from the American Tinnitus Association suggests that augmenting external noises with aids may help mask the internal noise of tinnitus. The relief probably varies from person to person but picking up even softer background noise can help retrain the brain to receive and interpret auditory stimuli. I have even heard the term “white noise” to describe the concept . Stimulating the auditory nerve pathway may override the internal drone of tinnitus, even if not completely. It may be that the tinnitus blends in with the background noise and the brain auditory centers may reprogram. All I really know is that the subtle slow loss of hearing was somewhat miraculously restored with sounds I hadn’t known for decades, by acquiring hearing aids. My advice to the hearing impaired....don’t wait. Greg I need to add an edit. I still have tinnitus without the hearing aids. So Mike, the disorder does not technically "go away".
  3. Sweet!! What a wonderful sibling for your Martin. Well done, make some great music with this beauty. Greg
  4. Well....this is a different guitar body shape. My new Breedlove Concerto. I have been meeting weekly outdoors, socially distancing with some friends in jam settings. Recently we formed an acoustic , non-amplified session every other Monday, and I found my OOO Martin struggled to speak loudly enough on solos. I hesitated considering the jump to dreadnaught and came across this hybrid design from Breedlove, a company in the Northwest where I reside. A large dreadnaught+ sized lower body and a concert sized upper. The sound hole is also smaller. Breedlove claims this shape retains the volume loudness of a dreadnaught but eliminates the potentially boomy bass that some can find ‘overwhelms the sound frequencies. I know that it’s more comfortable than a dreadnaught and has ample bottom end for me. I believe this guitar will compete well enough when it comes around to me for my solos in the jam group. The top is spruce , the sides and back are myrtlewood ( indigenous to the NW coast) ,the bridge, fretboard and headstock are ebony, and the neck is mahogany. Greg
  5. Back in the late 70's, I lived about 40 miles due north of Lake Charles for three years. After Rita and now Laura, I wonder if my home is still standing. Even 70+ miles from the gulf shores, there still are severe limits for where the waters can go. Even graves have to be above ground because of the high water tables. My front lawn was underwater even after a heavy afternoon thunderstorm. I pray for the folks caught in the fury of this hurricane. Greg
  6. The tinnitus going away, hearing the birds singing , the gentle breezes and rustling of leaves.....I can really appreciate these observations in my use of hearing aids myself. It's great! Greg
  7. After the Gold Rush, Abraxas, Plastic Ono Band , Bridge Over Troubled Water ( all of Simon and Garfunkels works) were all impactful for me. Even more so, Sweet Baby James (James Taylor), as I was composing my own music. The singer-songwriter concept stimulated the poet-writer side of my consciousness and the 60-70's provided ample topical fuel for creativity. Greg
  8. I agree, a wonderful song to play and sing along. Greg
  9. Thanks all on the listen and comments . It was fun recording with someone else for a change. Greg
  10. Fun times you lucky guys! Looks like a very packed and enjoyable day for everyone. Wish I too could have been there to share it with all of you. Greg
  11. Awesome Wim! Perfectly played. Loved it. I need to get back into the LMG Fingerstyle lessons. I got stalled out mid session 2....still living with my flailing fingers style. Greg
  12. Sweet Lester! What a great combo. wish I could have been there to soak it all in. Nicely done, all of you Greg
  13. Outstanding Mike! that was a very impressive performance that I really enjoyed watching and listening to. Greg
  14. "Something special" can have many interpretations, so I will take a stretch here and submit this recording to the challenge instead of the other recording section because it is special to me if not necessarily to the specifics of guitar technique. I did double play the lead and rhythm sections in separate registers (somewhat successfully if not perfect) which was a bit new to me but technically this is just another "rock and roll " song. What makes it special to me is recording it with my 15 year old granddaughter who had to be coaxed out of singing retirement ( she has been out of choir for a couple years- I truly loved hearing her sing, since age 4) to take on the challenge. Let me say I missed her musical expressions and if was fun bonding this way with her. She is a lover of all forms of music herself, as am I. I began this a month ago as a secondary project inspired out of the power chord challenge , but just as a fun thing between the two of us. I have been busy with the restartup of my two bands-we socially distance of course- so it took me a while to finish it. I had to challenge her to be a sassy girl, which she warmed up to as the song progressed. Drums and bass are tracks, guitar and backup vocals from me. I hope it brings joy to others as it has to me.
  15. A sweet and mellow tribute to a blues legend. He was indeed the breath and soul of the original Fleetwood Mac ensemble. A brilliant musician. Well played Wim. Greg
  16. Yowser, what a sweet jam! Lots of fleet moving pieces here, jazz chords, harmonics,rakes- you got it all. Hope you are jamming with others, you have a lot to offer. Thanks for sharing Greg
  17. Lots of nice hard work went into this Doug...over 5 minutes to boot! All those techniques are things we all continue to work on so keep up the good efforts. No need to be hesitant about sharing, we all are just students learning to play our best here. Greg
  18. So glad that you are sharing your great chops in these challenges. Very nicely played, a difficult line and you performed it very well. Thanks for sharing. Greg
  19. Simply stunning Wim! A wonderful rendition and recording of this timeless song. I do hope you have opportunities to share your music with others. You have a gift to give for music lovers. Greg
  20. Very cool Mandy! A nice way to try out something new. I enjoyed it. Greg
  21. I don't notice those problems with mine. I wear them playing acoustically and take them out and use custom fit earplugs. when playing electrically. Quite an auditory adjustment with ear plugs, I will say though. Getting harmonics and stray string sounds can happen on adjacent strings when you are not muting them while striking a note. It took me some time to learn how to routinely mute unplayed strings with my palm and fingers. Your hearing aids may be allowing you to hear this when you might not without them in. Greg Greg
