  1. Ok here we go! Key: G Time signature: 4/4 Tempo: 72 bpm Structure: Intro (4 bars) G / C / D / Em Verse 1 (8 bars) C / Am / Em / B7 / C / Am / Em / B7 Chorus (8 bars) G / C / D / Em /G / C / D / Em Verse 2 (8 bars) C / Am / Em / B7 / C / Am / Em / B7 Solo (8 bars) G / C / D / Em /G / C / D / Em Verse 3 (8 bars) C / Am / Em / B7 / C / Am / Em / B7 Bridge (4 bars) D / Am/ D / Em Chorus (8 bars) G / C / D / Em /G / C / D / Em Outro (1 bar) G I make that 57 bars and it will be 3 minutes 13 seconds long (according to Logic Pro X 🤓).
  2. Thank you @guitarben, I will put you down for the rhythm guitar. 👏 Yay this boat is going to float!!!! I will write the chord progression to get us going and will make sure that the chord progression consists of open chords.
  3. Hello @gotto, @Eracer_Team-DougH is correct. You can sync up to 5 units to an app so it can do a small band. You can have the app silent and turn off the lights on the Soundbrenner if you wish. I really like it, I am wearing it so that the Soundbrenner is on my sternum so it vibrates through the bone. You need the extra body strap for that, strewn with one arm in and over the head. Soundbrenner did say that it works better on a part of the body that is not moving. The app is available for android and ios and the Soundbrenner can be controlled by most DAWs like Ableton and Logic but not by Garageband because Garageband does not have a midi clock facility. In fact it prompted me to buy myself a "yipee I have finished my cancer treatment" present of Logic Pro X and it works really well with that. There is an app that you download for that and videos on Youtube telling you how to do it. Also their customer support is good as I had trouble getting my android app to work, in the end just needed me to turn on the location feature of my android. For me it is not an instant fix, they do say that in the instruction manual. I am learning to count the beat that I feel and not the beat that I hear.😁
  4. Thank you @gotto, it sounds like you are making the most of your retirement.😎
  5. Thank you @Fretless get well soon. Guess what ......l have just bought myself a present..........Logic Pro X. 😎 I just have to learn how to use the advanced features now. 😁 I have a great Udemy course which is helping.
  6. 😎Let's work together to write and record another song. It will be another team effort and anyone at any level is encouraged to join in.🎸 🥁Please volunteer to do the tasks below shown in black. I will try to pick up any tasks that do not get volunteered for (except the rhythm guitar unless it is a really easy and slow chord progressions because of my arthritis😁) and I will help anyone who wants to join in. 🎙 🎶One of the great things about working with others in this way is that we end up with a song that has been crafted by a pool of ideas. The production tasks: 1) Nutty 1 will Choose a tempo (bpm), time signature (eg 4/4), key (eg. C major) and a song structure (eg. intro, verse, chorus, bridge outro) with bars and chords. Key: G Time signature: 4/4 Tempo: 72 bpm Intro (4 bars) G / C / D / Em Verse 1 (8 bars) C / Am / Em / B7 / C / Am / Em / B7 Chorus (8 bars) G / C / D / Em /G / C / D / Em Verse 2 (8 bars) C / Am / Em / B7 / C / Am / Em / B7 Solo (8 bars) G / C / D / Em /G / C / D / Em Verse 3 (8 bars) C / Am / Em / B7 / C / Am / Em / B7 Bridge (4 bars) D / Am/ D / Em Chorus (8 bars) G / C / D / Em /G / C / D / Em Outro (1 bar) G 2) Nutty 1 will Record a drum track. 3) guitarben will Record a rhythm guitar track. 4) Jusca will Record a bass guitar track. 5) gotto will Write some lyrics and choose a title for the song. 6) gotto will Record the vocals. 7) Texaspackerfan will Record a lead guitar track (solos, fills). 😎Texaspackerfan will Mix and master the song, this includes providing intermediate mixes for collaborators who want a specific mix in order to record their parts. Please note: 🎤 If you can record your track in 24 bit and at 44.1kHz, saving your track as a wave (WAV) file that would be great, if not then even an MP3 will do at the best quality you can. If you do not have any recording software (Apple products have GarageBand included free of charge) you can use Audacity, it is free to download and free to use. Audacity is available for Windows, GNU/Linux and Mac. We have a shared online space for uploading and sharing the audio files, I will send a PM to new contributors. 🎧 P.s. If anyone wants to play rhythm guitar but is worried that the chord structure and tempo may be too difficult for them, then please reply to this thread or send me a private message and we will taylor the chord progressions so that you can play it. I wholeheartedly encourage beginners and anyone who is new to home recording. We need all experience levels in these collaborations. This is exactly how I got started, I learnt a lot from the experienced collaborators and I am still learning with every collaboration!
  7. Hello @Jusca, I have not run any collaborations for a while because of the general lack of volunteers at the time. My main problem is that my arthritis is still limiting me with my chord playing etc. I am happy to advertise another collaboration and see what happens.
  8. Great to have you with us @pkotof. I enjoyed reading your post and I look forward to hearing you play. Wow, the PRS is going to be great! You are right about how to choose guitars and your choices are superb. You are also right about Steve's course, it is so very comprehensive and packed with music theory too. Keep us posted on your guitar learning etc. Mandy
  9. This is brilliant, thank you very much for sharing it Randy.👍
  10. Ambition achieved for you Wim, that definitely rocks! Great job!👏🏼👏🏼 I have always wanted to rock like Status Quo as well.😎🤩
  11. Welcome back Mark, we missed you! I love hearing your recordings as they are so inspirational. We need great players like you as well the strugglers like me! 😁 What a beautiful song, thank you for sharing it with us.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I have been worried that the monthly recording challenge threads would die. We need people of all abilities to post, it is really a great learning experience. When people practice on their own they have no real idea of what it sounds like but once you start recording yourself you begin to step up your learning because it gives you specific things to work on and makes you practice that song much more which leads to improvement. This is a great forum, no one is going to tear anyone's recording to pices because we are all real guitar players and we have all either been there or would love to get there! 😁(Sorry folks, that was an encouragement rant aimed at the non posters).
  12. Thank you for doing this @guitarben. Wow, I get to choose again!😎 I would like to hear songs about love and relationships. This can be any type of love or relationship/partnership.
  13. Great double purchase! I love your new PRS, she is beautiful. I have a Yamaha THR amp myself and I would never part with it. I love the fact that you can get great effects even at low volumes or with earphones.👍
  14. I have a great skill, I can totally ignore a metronome. 😎 Even if it is really loud. Those of you who have heard my GarageBand produced songs will testify to that! So when I heard that there is a metronome that you can wear and it pulses so that you can feel the beat I thought it would be worth a try! Here it is...drum roll please.....🥁.......The Soundbrenner vibrating metronome! It comes with two watch strap holders, I got a good deal on a package which included the body strap also. So now I have plenty of options to try it out. I can sync it to a DAW that has a midi clock (I use Ableton Live Lite) that way I can see if I am playing on the beat. What do I mean "if" I should say that I can see that I am not playing on the beat!🤣
  15. Thank you Randy, that is helpful and really easy!😁😎👍
  16. I haven't heard of cross-picking before so I looked it up on the Dummies website (because I am definitely a dummy!). Dummies cross-picking I think they do pick chord tones unless they want to move their fretting fingers to allow non chord tones or pick on open strings outside the chord.
  17. It is great to see you back here Jusca, I hope you are feeling better.💐 Here is a discussion about the Yamaha THR Yamaha THR for a bass amp? Having one amp would definitely be a compromise. I have a small Vox Pathfinder for my bass and use the Yamaha THR for guitar.
  18. Thank you Ian, it took me a lot of practice.😁 I am really enjoying being able to have a go at playing and singing at the same time. It has bought my guitar practice to a new level.
  19. I have been learning a few ukulele songs lately. In my book there is the melody for an old folk song dating back to the 1870's called "My Girl". I was quite surprised to find that it sounds like the Nivarra song. Here is what Wikipedia had to say on the subject "In the Pines", also known as "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?" and "My Girl", is a traditional American folk song originating from two songs, "In the Pines" and "The Longest Train", both of whose authorship is unknown and date back to at least the 1870s.
  20. Thank you @Randy120 you are absolutely right! I will practice not peeking 👀😁
  21. I have just looked at it on Amazon UK. There is also a blues looper book. Now blues would be easy work with a looper!😎
