He suggested to keep the format of Open Mic the same for June. So any song which you know or are practicing can be submitted.

@matonanjin yes Ron, but since I usually do a "strum n sing " for either family or friends when we're not in  lockdown like we are currently. Can't visit anyone at this time (unlike USA)

I'm playing the single note melody in open, 4th and 12th positions, and singing all 4 verses .

The 3rd verse is a tongue twister at speed.

Well, the bellhop's tears keep flowin'
And the desk clerk's dressed in black
Well, they've been so long on Lonely Street
Well, they'll never, they'll never get back

 

I've taken a 'step back' to clean up some of my single notes,  since I can strum n sing live in front of 500+ people (thanks church)

Song Hits does have some good songs, Day Tripper,  Take'n Care of Business, etc , sadly not making me sound like SRV or Bonamassa,  but at least "listenable " when I get the song figured out

Doug, Day Tripper was another fun one.  And we all have little victories in our learning journey.   I was playing the melody to "Heartbreak Hotel" when my wife walked by.  And she commented, "That's sounds great!".  Of course made my day!

Right I remember you posting that comment,  not here.

Like most of Song Hits, I add back typically the 3rd verse that Steve has omitted. (Heartbeak actually shows all 4 verses in the music,  but Scotty Moore plays a solo at 12th fret, which I've added in )

With Day Tripper,  Steve shows the riff in E and A

I added 3rd verse back and I've added the B riff solo back in  which is taking just a little to smooth out.

This one is based on a Tommy Emmanual Travis picking lesson on TrueFire. I brought back in a bit of The Animals for the intro and tried to make my guitar sound like a mandolin in the end .

It"s the first recording with my new Fender Paramount PM-2 Parlor Mahogany. It"s a nice small short scale fingerpicker with the neck joint at the 12th fret. Great guitar for fingerstyle blues.

 @Wlm Van Damme Great job, the mandolin at end was a nice touch.  My only suggestion would be a little more damping on the base line to separate the melody...but again, that's everyone's own taste.  Enjoyed listening.  

The guitar sounds nice too.  😎

Yes, I will experiment a bit more with the damping and make sure I also mute the D string better.

Very well done Wim👍 You captured the tune in fingerstyle, not an easy skill to acquire. Your new guitar sounds great too. 

(HOTRS was one of the first tunes I learned directly from lifting the needle on the 'newly released' Animals vinyl LP 😉)
