It disappoints me that these are no longer part of top radio play lists.  As this article states it these "are a thing of the past".

Only 1 of these, the Venture's "Hawaii 5-0", I would call guitar centric.  But #9 on the list, "The Horse", has some cool strumming patterns. For your listening pleasure here are the Top 10 Instrumentals of the 60's.

Not a bad list for instrumentals. I would however substitute Hawaii 50 with Apache.

Also #7 has a soft spot in my heart for a first ever romance.

Living close to Memphis my entire life, I can't help but lean toward "Green Onions" by Booker T and the MG's.

I don't know how this list was chosen.  No where do they state how the list came to be.  I don't think popularity, meaning sales, was used.  radio playtime?  Or, most likely, just the author's opinion, very arbitrary opinion.

If you look in the comments there are those that agree about Apache and Telstar.  So do I!  We have recently had a couple discussions about Apache so we no it has some followers on here.  @Oldjock any stories you care to share about "theme from a Summer Place"?  😉  Come on, Henk!

@Gary Nelson "Green Onions" has always had a spot in my heart!

Yes, I see the article doesn't claim their choices to be the best...just good ones.  And with that I agree with many of them.

Hmm, all of these jogged my memory.  The funniest memory was Williams playing Gas live on TV and the camera zooming in on his fretting hand…barring with his middle finger!  Not a common event on that era’s TV!  😝

Not a 60’s tune, but Dueling Banjoes still gets high marks from me.

It is funny how we were impressed back in the day. For me it was John Kay sitting down on the edge of the stage and pulling feed back out of his Marshall stack as an entry into "The Pusher".

Thanks very much for posting that link 😀 I really enjoyed listening to all of them... it's been years since I've heard them! (Yes Doug, I know the all 😉) It took me back to my Jr. High and high school days and my Mom's '9 transistor ' Sears pocket radio, my first guitar, and trying ( feebly) to emulate the Venturers.  'A blast 😃 from the past",  as **** Clark used to say!
