  1. I forgot about Capo's Rule!!!! That also helped me greatly in remembering the signatures!!!
  2. There is also another pattern that can help with the memorization of scales: If you look at G for example, the sharp is F. But looking at Gb, the F is the only note not flatted, so it is the opposite. Same is true for all of the other sharp vs flat scales (except the C# and Cb). For F, the B is flat, but F# the B is the only one not sharp.... etc. So if you memorize one, the opposite is easy to remember too Once you see the pattern it is hard to 'not' see it!
  3. Another thing you can do to try a different angle is to raise the neck of the guitar higher. I find if the neck is higher, it feels less awkward trying to get my fingers to the proper positions for some chords, especially going higher up the neck with some barre chords.
  4. I haven't tried those yet! But I really do need to get back to the Song Hits! Those sound like a fun challenge! Keep at it! You'll get it!
  5. Thankfully I don't have as much of a problem with humidity now that I'm in Florida. Back in TN, I had to case all of my guitars in fall and winter as it was not possible to isolate the room I used, and a whole house humidifier was out of my budget. It got really dry, below 20%! Now the only time it gets slightly dry is a week or so in the winter (like right now, lol!), and it generally doesn't dip too much below the 40 percent mark. Most other times it ranges from 50-55%. Again, I can't isolate the room I'm in - this is the only room where the dogs can sit by the window and randomly bark at nothing, and yell at the postman when he delivers the mail I do have a hygrometer in here just to make sure we are in a good range
  6. You are a good friend! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your friend.
  7. I see you are in the same boat I am in.... When I started to try to streamline and go paperless, it made me review the shocking amount of resources I currently have. I am beginning to think I may have a slight problem, lol!
  8. Sounds pretty cool! I especially like that it is electronic! I am in the process of trying to go paperless. I know it won't be possible to totally get rid of paper, but I'm doing what I can
  9. This is pretty cool! Thanks for posting it! All signed up and watched the first 2 videos
  10. Hmm... If the hubby comes along, that might not be much of a savings... I'll have to think on this... I guess I could get a room at the LaQuinta for Friday and Saturday nights. It would be nice to all be in the same place!
  11. Sounds interesting!! Thanks for posting this!
  12. Dave, that would be outstanding if we could!! Last year we stayed 10 minutes up the road in a LaQuinta.... very basic, but close, local streets to get there, and reasonable $$.
  13. I have a few guitars , and they are all so much fun and different in their own ways... But my very favorite is Curley... my 1933 Gibson L-OO... Restored by the best and most talented luthier!
  14. Greg's class on setups and fret dressings are so valuable!! Hands on experience in a small group setting - doesn't get any better!
  15. Good to see the link to MikeM's files is still active.

  16. Thank you Steve! The atmosphere in our forum has always set us apart from others, and has fostered a friendly learning environment! And we do have some younger learners here too!
  17. I've not had a chance to get there... which might be a good thing, lol!
  18. Good luck everyone dealing with the cold!! Luckily, I usually don't have issues anymore with the humidity living in Florida. Normal even in summer is 50-55%. But it has been so cold even here!! It actually dipped into the upper 20's - I know that doesn't seem cold for the northern folks, but our houses weren't built for cold! Pipes are exposed, freezing and breaking everywhere (we insulated ours before it got so cold) and plants going belly-up! My humidity has only dipped to 35%, so still not as bad as a lot of you are having, and we should be back to normal in a few days... When I lived in the mountains of East Tennessee, we had extremes (15-20% in winter, 60-65% in summer). It was difficult to keep the instruments in the optimal conditions. Take care of all those wonderful guitars!!!
  19. Thanks for making this a reality Steve! I really love the uniqueness of our guitar family!
  20. That is a whole lot of reviewing I need to do!!
  21. Excellent resources Diane!! Thanks for posting those!
