  1. I would definitely agree with time on acoustic guitars and also add that I believe that"mileage" and frequency of play have a great bearing on tone. Despite its age at the time when I started playing again (45), my well used 59 Southern Jumbo took about 6 months to regain its voice and does diminish with lack of humidity and absence of play . Stewart MacDonald offers these https://www.tonerite.com/ and Steve mentioned them in the past.
  2. I scanned the Popular Mechanics article with an objective mind. I would think that semi-hollow body electrics, hollow body electrics, and most predominantly acoustics would be most and greatly affected by finish and its thickness, from the resonance standpoint but that's got to be only on factor among many ( the type and thickness of wood used, bridge compensation for intonation inconsistencies (setup), bracing, string type and diameters, type of guitar and relative humidity pickups and other electrical considerations, are some I can think of) that affect tone in general. But, I think it's we who select the colors and types of guitars we play (on guitars that aren't given us), our individual touch, musical tastes, our moods and even the kind of day we are having that are the predominant factors governing tone.
  3. I saw Dr. Ducks at GC the other day, while in the market for fretboard conditioner for my nephew's classical ( I'm trying to hold onto the Prof Green's for my two guitars.) . I ended up getting Kyyser lemon oil after asking for a recommendation. They had the Dunlop but only in a kit and some other stuff I can't recall ( no Big Bends though). Anyway, the dry little thing drank two heavy coats without needing a wipe up. It seems better. I play most every day and tend to let my fretting hand fingers be the guide. If they're starting to get sore, I use a little oil on the boards and the soreness goes away in a day or two. The interval is more frequent than my string changes. I use Elixir nanowebs on both of my guitars and thanks to clean hands I gotten about twice the life out of them (8 months or so on these strings) but about three months on the oil. I know it sounds weird but it works for me.
  4. Sorry to have missed it, It was literally too hot upstairs to run the computer last night.
  5. Good day Robert, The Yamaha is definitely one to go see. I don't own a nylon string but I believe Steve has a Yamaha that he bought in college and had an electric pickup installed into. I don't remember the exact model. As I remember, he has said many times that he does most of his recording with it and were he stranded on a deserted island, it would be his guitar to have with him. Please correct me if I'm in error, folks.
  6. Thanks Blue, What's the Fender name of the 4/12 stack? I know it's gotta be one of the British models. The Mustang top screen has a picture of the model and that'll probably show me. I wish someone would have a list of what each virtual effect and amp model is. The only box effect I'm sure of is the green box. I think about everyone playing an electric, knows what a tube screamer is.
  7. Thanks Blue, I did know that they had the presets through Fuse. I hope they don't just dump them. I've been plugging and tweaking one pedal at a time into the 65 Twin model. I have played a real Twin at GC and loved it but I didn't get the volume past 4, and although I know its practice to run them at 5 and above, the neighbors 5 blocks away probably don't need to hear it.
  8. Thanks Guys, One of the only reasons I got the Mustang III was I thought my Super Champ was going to be in the shop. As it is, it hasn't gone to the shop but I can dial the volume on the Mustang down enough for room levels. I got them both awhile ago and am not in the market for a GT. I like what I got. I saw the Tone thing they got for the GTs and the presets may translate over if you manually preset the III. I'm just starting to mess with the virtual pedals, but haven't saved any settings yet. I did get a new profile using the old email but my amps didn't show up. I do have copies of Fuse loaded so local editing isn't an issue on either amp. It just didn't make sense to me. I guess if I was under 50 , I'd understand.
  9. Honestly, I don't know To tell the truth, I've just been so tied up with other stuff, that I haven't messed around with the extra stuff in the Mustang III or the Super Champ that I own until recently. Musically, I've concentrated on scales, technique, and just seeing what the base settings on both amps would give me, as well as volume, tone and switching on the guitar. I would've thought that as big as the community portion is on the Fender site, they would care to administer to it. I still feel like a dog with a Ferrari with this stuff.
  10. UPDATE: I found this in their consumer relations portion of their support area: FENDER.COM LOUNGE FORUMS HELP Have a question about your Fender Forums username or password? Or... is your question about the Fender.com Forums or some other feature of the Fender.com Community area? We would ask that you please NOT contact Consumer Relations for any issues regarding your username, password, Fender Profile, the Fender.com Forums, nor any other concerns regarding the Community section of Fender.com. FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY (for example, if you are experiencing repeated difficulty logging in), please contact ForumAdmin@fender.com if your question concerns any of the issues above. The address dumps you into a "page not found" screen when you click it. I guess they don't give a @#%&* about their community or registration of products.
  11. Seriously Folks, I have sent two emails to Fender customer support about my profile, Fender Fuse, and the absence of the two amps I registered, in my profile. I have heard absolutely nothing. The Live Chat text on the top of customer support page is incapable of being selected by my browsers. This all started when I tried to change my Fuse and profile passwords. Did the employees take off until summer? If this is widespread, I kinda feel sorry for those new GT owners. Anyone else try to contact them or hear something that I haven't about the company? Thanks for your time.
  12. Nice 33 Gibson Barbara, and folks, a lot of nice guitars, I'm glad you could find someone you could trust enough to return it to you. I'm afraid my old timer won't see work until I'm unable to play a guitar, but I know where it's going.
  13. Here's my old timer. I've had it since summer of 1984 but I'm its third owner.
  14. Thanks DianeB, I've been sweating it lately. The old timer dropped from 47 to 45 percent the other day and I had to stick a third Oasis in its case. Hopefully this'll be the last day in the twenties here for awhile.
