  1. @rbauer1 welcome another Canadian As Neil pointed out there isn't anything on modes in the main LMG course, but you may have seen a Live Lesson Steve did Sadly I haven't been able to get to watch Steve's current LL videos, but check at the top of this forum for Live Lessons, Everything Steve has done in the last 9yrs of LL videos are stored there for review
  2. The guitar picked your house to live. Nice when a guitar picks out its owner
  3. Right I remember you posting that comment, not here. Like most of Song Hits, I add back typically the 3rd verse that Steve has omitted. (Heartbeak actually shows all 4 verses in the music, but Scotty Moore plays a solo at 12th fret, which I've added in ) With Day Tripper, Steve shows the riff in E and A I added 3rd verse back and I've added the B riff solo back in which is taking just a little to smooth out. Work in progress
  4. @matonanjin yes Ron, but since I usually do a "strum n sing " for either family or friends when we're not in lockdown like we are currently. Can't visit anyone at this time (unlike USA) I'm playing the single note melody in open, 4th and 12th positions, and singing all 4 verses . The 3rd verse is a tongue twister at speed. Well, the bellhop's tears keep flowin' And the desk clerk's dressed in black Well, they've been so long on Lonely Street Well, they'll never, they'll never get back I've taken a 'step back' to clean up some of my single notes, since I can strum n sing live in front of 500+ people (thanks church) Song Hits does have some good songs, Day Tripper, Take'n Care of Business, etc , sadly not making me sound like SRV or Bonamassa, but at least "listenable " when I get the song figured out
  5. I'm almost ready to put Heartbeak Hotel in the "can", let's see what I can do next couple of weekends
  6. I had just watched that video.. now to get the borders open and the wife back on board to going to Nashville Gathering for 2022
  7. @Nairon yup your ring finger on root of C touches 6th string and mutes it
  8. Guess my singing isn't so bad after all
  9. Good for you Mike. USA seems to have "gotten over" covid. I can't speak for all Canadian's, but I'm just scratching my head as we're still in lockdown. Can't buy shoes or pants as those are considered non-essential (and too many shoppers congregating) no restaurant open let alone bars and concerts. I can't even imagine attending a concert till even next year, and I'm sure we'll have tons of restrictions Looking for a full Tommy report when you go
  10. Check my signature line, it has the Words of Guitar Wisdom by Steve in it
  11. Probably the best journal you could keep is a recording of yourself over anything else. You will hear your progress as the rest is just numbers on a page
  12. Steve describes the strumming hand is like a piston. down up down up... never stopping. Doesn't always strum or pick a sting but it has to go the other way some time. But to do 2 down strokes you have to bring your hand up, before you can go down again Same with the foot, tap down for 1, up on &, down on 2, up on &.... Just cause you didn't count the & or say the &, doesn't mean the & didn't exist
  13. I would leave it in 1/4 And just count 1&2&3&4 for the 1/8 notes Tap your foot in time as well
  14. Big "key" to LMG is Sessions 1 to 9 give you the tools to play guitar. Sessions 10 to 20 are as Steve calls them "extra tools for your bag" Many people bail on the course around S8 or S9 as they can work with other musicians and other learning studies. Instead of keeping with it to the end. So very few have "completed " the course, Because of LMG I'm one of a few "music ministers " at my church, I got to S9, an opportunity came up to play live in front of 500-1200 people and so for me LMG is sidetracked a bit, with intentions of getting back to it. But I may never finish. Steve wrote a home schooling version. It was intended for parents to monitor a child's progress through LMG. Steve laid out a plan to finish the course in 2yrs. But that's assuming you're a school age person, with someone to look after the day to day adult stuff and you can concentrate on LMG like the rest of your schooling Just don't get a 24hr IT job like I had for over 20yrs, you'll have a chance of finishing.
  15. just saying there is a billion presets on the modeling equipment to keep a user twinking and tweaking for a long time . whether is a Pod or a Kemper. Oh look a new patch.. I spent 2yrs learning how to build tube amps and the longest running person in LMG Session 4, as I twinked Zoso vs Malory vs Sprague capacitors. each does something slightly different in each spot. which prevents one from just playing. something to be said for an amp with a volume knob and maybe a tone knob.
  16. Check out Canada CBC radio for Randy Bachman Vinyl Tap series. Been running for years, he just announced he's retiring in July
  17. @SRV great amp. it does what your fingers tell it to do.. it's not a digital Swiss army knife.. great tone from your fingers I would have bought one if I could off load my Traynor for a good price
  18. @Nairon @Fretless @NeilES335 NeilES335 has a Scarlett Focusrite 2i2 bundled package, he'll tell you the headphones in it aren't that bad, I haven't heard them myself. One thing I have learned from recording with a mic, Heating and AC kicks in , you'll get the whooshing sound in your mic. I block the vent off with several large books, but the low rumble of the furnace can still be seen in the lower bars of the VU meter. Have to time your live recording between heat/cool cycles
