  1. I have tried to download this software a couple of times without success. The file is very large so depending on your download speed it could take a couple of hours... I've not used a DAW before, but I understand that Pro Tools is basically the industry standard. The "First" ie; free version is supposed to have about 90% of the content of the "Full" version. We'll see if, when I get it to download...
  2. Congrats on the new axe?. Ive never played a Tele but I am curious.. I associate them with country music twangy but Ive learned they are capable of much more. Enjoy.
  3. Well, seeing as this is "What are you working on month" and no-one minds something a little rough around the edges, here's my humble submission (my first on this forum I believe). This short jazz fingerstyle tune is something I wrote a while back (still a work in progress... Ive since lengthened it ); played unplugged on my Godin archtop. (1 take recorded on my cellphone so I apologize for the low quality) Thanks for listening. A Tune for Judy.m4a
  4. Join us for Live Lessons on our Guitar Gathering YouTube Channel! See Link above. NOTE ; this date is tentative pending Steve's recovery from wrist issues. Stay tuned.

  6. ALL of the Fretboard Workout and Video courses are 25% off this weekend?. Time to stock up and get them all!
  7. I decided to take a bit of a detour from my Learn and Master Guitar course Session 17, to work on "The Money Chords" The Best Sounding Chords on Guitar. This great course was born out of a very popular series of quick video lessons Steve did for Gibson. Why Gibson stopped doing them and took them down from their website, is beyond me.. a really poor decision for them in my opinion! These rich sounding chords do indeed take your sound to the next level... never sound boring again! Ever wonder how you could play those superb intro spots that Steve plays? Here it is. Although I did already know many of the chord forms, Steve's explanation of how the chords work together and the progressions fit, really opens up the possibilities, especially if you're an acoustic or finger-style player. I've just started on it but enjoying it already... Do yourself (and your spouse/family) a favor; get the course and learn from it. Best 25 bucks you'll spend on your guitar journey.

  9. @ShadowBoxer86 Thank you for sharing your inspiring guitar journey and congratulations! Most of us have been at it far longer and have not progressed nearly as far. As you say if one really applies oneself constistantly it is amazing what can be accomplished.
  10. I'm sure you'll join me in wishing Steve's a speedy recovery from this condition. Although I look forward to Live Lessons every week, personally, if he's not 100%, I'd rather wait until he is, and not risk further injury.
  11. I saw that Gibson Firebird X when I was researching guitars to buy my first really good one. (My ES335) I thought "What the Heck IS that thing? " Bafflling array of electronics, wizz bang knobs and lights.. and EXPENSIVE. My next thought was, if you want that, why not just buy a synthesizer and be done with the strings... amounts to the same thing.

  17. I'm not sure @Plantsman13if you're asking about practice methods, or the gear, or both, but here goes... For practice, I try to keep it simple. Usually I watch the LMG lesson for example, then I turn off the computer dvd or my tv (quite outdated by Doug's standard ;-) with the dvd player, and focus on the written lesson and work on that untii I feel like I've "got it down" pretty well. Then I'll go back the Lesson, and run through it playing along with Steve. Then depending on how well I'm doing, I'll go play along with the jam tracks. I usually put my laptop on my music stand, and if i'm using my amp, there's a 1/8 jack into the amp I connect to the computer. My amp (Fender GDEC ) takes an SD card, so I load the backing tracks on there, and play along with them. The amp will record short clips as well to check how I'm doing, or sometimes I record with my Ditto X2 looper. Lot's of times its' just me, unplugged acoustic, and the written music or lesson on my music stand or bed ... nothing too complicated. KISS. (not the band ) ps I almost forgot... when Doug kindly fixes my amPhones, I'll get back to using them to practice quietly sometimes. They have a jack that allows me to plug in lessons or jam tracks from my phone or computer.
  18. I would echo these remarks saying that I'm sure most members are familiar with most of these guitar gurus's on YouTube (I've watched hundreds of guitar videos there). But as for my main focus i have stuck to Steve Krenz's LMG course , supplemented with Fretboard Workouts, and found it to be more than enough for general learning purposes. When one tries to go in several directions at once, it's very hard to measure your progress and actually accomplish much.
  19. @V7#5b9 Point taken...well off topic on this one.? We just cant help having some fun reminiscing some times ?...Wearing my moderator hat, I'll remind members to please stick to topic within reason. By all means continue to post freely with your valuable comtributions!

  23. I found the NYXL 's very bright sounding... the XL's were a little more to my taste... warmer.. (of course i like warmer... a matter of taste really.
