  1. Nice catch Six, I'm sure it will give you a lot of pleasure. I love the stutter effect. Henk
  2. Very nice, I've had my eye on that for a few months now. I will be anxiously awaiting your review. Henk
  3. Fantastic, you will have a ball. Enjoy your evening. My jam is scheduled for next week. Did I mention we also include beer tasting. Henk

    Carlos Santana

I can really relate to having a sleeper car. Lots of fun those days. No one seems to work on their cars anymore. I still do my own oil changes and brakes. Same with the marriage. I was driving a '64 Thunderbird when I said "I do", suddenly I was driving a Fairmont station wagon. Henk

'59 Ford Galaxie convertible, red/white with a 332 cu. in. V8 and a four on the floor. How I wish I still had it. Henk

I've been a big Carlos fan since I listened to Santana tapes on my 8 track. Henk
  7. I have only had a week to play with the VOX amp2 but I have a few initial impressions. I am impressed that such a physically small unit provides enough power and options to be a usable part of my routine. There are Fx options for Tremolo. Chorus, Delay and Reverb which are fine playing songs but for practice I prefer to play clean. I am amazed at how much more clearly I can hear the notes and chords with headphones whereas with the amp the misses seem to blend in. This really helps me to improve my fretting technique. The instructions are clear and easy to learn. The volume and gain settings do not require settings over 4. this little unit just booms. I have been leaving the gain and volume at 4, the tone set to 5. If I require any adjustments, I will use the knobs on the guitar As for playing in the same room with others without disturbing them does not work as advertised. Imagine playing unamped and the strings still emit a muted ring with some pick noise. I have found that this noise will still disturb anyone nearby. Playing in the next room is perfect. The volume from the amp could easily be heard but the VOX amp2 was silent. So far I am very pleased with this little unit. Henk
  8. This looks very interesting. I just checked the Vox amp 2 at L & M for $55. I see that it has effects & allows the input of backing tracks from iPhone. For the price I can’ t avoid trying this unit. Heading to the store today. Thanks to all for the heads up. Henk
  9. Too rich for me. Doubt it will make me a better sounding player. Think I would be afraid to take it out of the case, plus I can get a decent used truck for that. Henk
  10. Not sure why you are sweat'n it Ron. There always seems to be this stigma with guitarists that the best will only play standing and from memory. Long ago I decided that I will play and perform in a manner which suits me. During a 10 song set I will sit on a stool for 8 of them, only standing when I share a mic with another player. Play for yourself first, and go slowly, trust your own skills. One extra thought since we were talking about straps in another link. I have noticed that an extra width strap of 3" is much more comfortable. After using the 3" strap, the 2" feels like it is digging in. Henk
  11. Mine is the American Bison (chocolate) 3”, three years old an used regularly. It still looks brand new and shows no sign of stretching.
  12. I have one Lakota strap, thinking of getting a couple more. They are very comfortable and look great. Henk
  13. Here's a picture of the guys I play with. Between the five of us, we play 6 string, 12 string, electric, mandola, bass, banjo and keyboard. After three years we have a 50 song library and we are constantly adding songs at each practice. We practice once a month combined with craft beer tasting. We have about two gigs a year (non paying). I have never had so much fun in my life. Henk
  14. Ron, congratulations on the guitar and your anniversary to a great lady. I am also a Santana guy and I have been casually looking for a PRS hollow body to go with my PRS Santana. I would love to read your review of this fine instrument. Oh and keep it stock for a while, the guys on the PRS Forum would have you stripping it immediately. Henk
  15. Fantastic story Matonanjin and Pat. I am just starting this process with my grandaughters 8 and 10. Both birthdays are this spring, so I am searching for those 3/4 size guitars. I have a couple of solid leads through friends. Henk
  16. For acoustics I like the Seagull brand. Well built (like a tank), sound good and great value for the dollar. With my large hands, the 1.8" necks are quite comfortable. Best of all, I'm not afraid to take them anywhere. For electrics I am drawn to the Paul Reed Smith (PRS) brand. Stunning looks and beautiful sounds. Basically I look for an economical guitar which is comfortable and sounds good to me. An expensive guitar will not make me sound any better. Henk
  17. Thanks Neil, much appreciated. Henk
  18. When I bought my PRS Santana, there was a sign hanging behind the counter. “Your wife called and said it was OK!” Henk
  19. Thanks Steve. This forum is what really keeps me motivated. As you said each one of us is climbing the mountain. I think it is much easier to climb as a team, rather than solo. Henk
  20. It's been so cold (-30C) and dry here (25%) That the guitars are all in their cases with humidifiers. Even the whole house humidifier can't raise the humidity without causing condensation on the windows. Henk
