  1. So that's 11 Acoustic performances in one night, That's GREAT Diane, say Hi to Dave.
  2. Thanks Diane, I'll have to watch it when the weather snows us in again. Music speaks when words fail to come. Enjoy the day, GC
  3. There are some other Youtube videos with Pete Hutlinger, I find them time well spent. This one is with Steve at Gruhns discussing James Taylor fingerstyle technique. Hope you enjoy it, GeneC London KY
  4. THANKS @DianeB and @Nancy Lawing for bringing guitarist Maddie Rice to my attention, I made a concerted effort to find her in the band that I otherwise would have missed without this string. She has been in 2 SNL shows that I've seen since I read this. As Nancy pointed out you could see she has the fingers for it and I hope they will bring her out front more to feature some of her playing. Kinda like they did with GE Smith occasionally. Have a great week, stay well. Gene C
  5. Hope you had a good one Gary, enjoy the Madolinimage.jpeg.fae354551e102fbbe9f83a4ad8f011c7.jpeg

Thanks Gene.   Hope you guys have a great Christmas!

  6. Sounds good Gary, I have tried other instruments too and it is FUN, capital F U N. You have good taste in musical instruments and I think you'll do just fine with the new sounds. Keep up the good work, take care, you and yours have a very Merry Christmas. Gene C
  7. Hey Diane, Hope you are having a great start to the week. I wanted to let you know I followed your link in the above message. I watched the video with Pete Huttlinger and found it VERY informative and inspirational. He was so talented, I am sorry he passed much too soon. His website has a lot of good resources. I appreciate the home splash page quote "Don't just live, live well". I think it's a good thing to aspire to. Thanks for getting me to the video, Gene C
  8. matonanjin, I like the well thought out presentation of the very nice collection you have going. I am sure there is some more room to grow with some tasty floor stands "nearby" Take care and let the good times roll, Gene C
  9. Watched them both, I like Steve's lessons on "How Music Works" better. I am unclear however why the V is called dominate.
  10. I bought this DOT Sufaris album from my neighbor for a dollar early 1967, loved it and I played it over and over in our basement. The first time I remember hearing the song was at a hamburger restaurant, either a Top-Hat or White Castle. The Jukebox was connected to the ceiling mounted speakers and as a 6th grader I thought that getting the sound from so many directions was REALLY cool. I downloaded the musicnotes sheet music, THANKS @Triple-o for bringing this our attention ! Have Happy and prosperous New Year, Gene C

    Tenth Anniversary

Nice summary you put together @DianeB reminds me of my weekly SITREP from my DOD job. Steve has warned us as you may recall about a student with all the charts, numbers, facts, figures, tasks, and so on. I agree that too much evaluation can suck the joy out of something if one is not careful. Try to be kind to yourself on number 3. I think your social and musical circle was significantly enhanced around 27-30October's retreat, I know mine was. I agree with @Nancy Lawing, definitely an A+. All that you do (and have done) for this group is an added accomplishment that makes the learning experience much better for us. There were 100 plus watching at the last Live Lesson, just sayin' -thanks. During the next Guitar Gathering if given the opportunity I plan to illustrate some of those "fumbled chords and riffs" while my learning journey continues. Keep up the good work, Gene C
  12. Happy Thanksgiving and Thanks for providing the link to the Acoustic Guitar Company. I ordered a pound yesterday.
  13. Gary, Thanks for the text - very much appreciated. Thankfully the flooding SE of here did not effect our immediate area. How are you getting along with the AirTurn Duo500 ? A step in that direction for me, I took an I Pad class last week after getting it's battery charged. The hard copy of Sept/Oct (AG336) Acoustic magazine arrived a couple days ago with the Neil Young song "Harvest Moon". See pages 48-49, a Reader's Pick... Best guitar wishes, Gene C, London KY
  14. guitarfeelsuccess Good luck in your guitar learning journey, practice daily and enjoy the music. Thanks Diane B - Thanks Nancy L, I have seen and used some of Justin's instruction but haven't heard of the others mentioned in the first paragraph. I will have to give them a look-see now that I'm curious. I too remain committed to learning from Steve and not "wavered from his instruction". Steve is a great teacher and guitarist. I take and use Steve 's words of advise in the link Diane has provided seriously. It's certainly has been a good way for me to learn on my guitar journey.
