  3. One of them is the first Guitar Gathering Collaboration. I thought it was appropriate for Steve's first forum CD. It will remind him of how his new forum was an instant success!???????

  8. Ah, now if we are talking about how some songs are written using chords that are not in the key of the song then we come into the realms of artistic license. I am at present doing a songwriting course on Udemy which deals with songwriting from the music point of view as opposed to the lyrics side of things. My teacher Dan Dresnok teaches us the theory of choosing a song key and sticking to the chords in that key. I have just watched the next lesson where Dan is now encouraging us to break the rules. Basically you can throw in any other chords that sound like they work. There is no music theory behind that, if it works you can use it but you have to choose any notes that you sing or play over them very carefully. Breaking the rules can lead to some great and different sounding songs. I hope this helps.
  9. Another thing that you can do Mike is to record yourself playing and join in with the "Monthly Recording Challenge" on this forum and also join in with any collaborations on this forum. I have never been in a position to be able to play live with other musicians but I have learnt a lot by recording my playing and sharing it with others on this forum (and the old forum from which many of us were on previously). Do not compare yourself with famous musicians who have been playing guitar since they were children, do not look at how far you have to go to get as good as they are. Instead look at how far you have come! Play songs that you love for yourself and share them with us. Write your oun music and record that and share it with us also. p.s. You do not have to have a song in the theme of the Monthly Recording Challenge in order to post it, any subject is acceptable and would be most welcome.
  10. That looks brilliant Ice9, great job. Thank you for sharing your project with us.
  11. Brilliant! Thank you Fretless, that would be great. I have uploaded the original file and my post processed file to Box.com. I will send you a private message with details about the files.
  12. I do not get the opportunity to go to guitar shops very often, so if an attack of GAS happens I usually go for a guitar with a 12" radius neck. This does seem to be pretty much a magic formula for me.
  13. Hello everyone, I am very pleased to tell you that we now have a vocal track written and sung by rkl312. GG! vocal mix.mp3
  14. Beautiful Mark, and played with lots of feeling as always. I loved it. I hope you and your wife feel better soon.
  15. Wow, great post Gerald, thank you! I am going to have to read this quite a few times to get all of this information into my head. Thank you! ?? ?
  16. I have just found this it is quite a lengthy document but it looks really interesting. I posted it as a link to the online pdf document, I hope you can open it.
  17. In a course on Songwriting by Dan Dresnok (on Udemy) Dan mentioned that psychologists have looked at how different keys make us feel. We all know about major keys being happy and minor keys being sad but it goes even deeper than that. I found this on the internet very interesting and I aim to keep it in mind when I write songs. What do you think?????? http://www.wmich.edu/mus-theo/courses/keys.html
  18. This is really great, thank you for posting it Wim!????
  19. This is brilliant Gerald, it is exactly what I need. Thank you so much for posting it.?????
  20. Yay I have submitted a track. Thank you Cindy for replying to let me know that you got it. Well folks, if I can submit a track, anyone can????
  21. Oh how I am tempted @Wim VD but I am trying to rest my fingers with the hope of getting rid of my trigger finger. It has only been about a week now since I last played a guitar but it feels like much longer. ?
