I know none tbh, though I have a bumper gold book of Ukelele songs. My favourites from there are "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash and "Wonderful World".

I have a Kala uke and so far it plays me more than I play it. The non-linear tuning is a little challenging for me. But I really admire the great uke players and some day maybe I can be one-tenth as good as them.

I take it you've seen the guy on YouTube who covers The Beatle's song on ukelele? Its incredible what you can do with practise. I look forward to hearing your music, it sounds like you're passionate about playing the Uke :)

I've not tried an authentic Hawaiian ukelele, I got one of the cheap ones and put decent strings on it. Makes it sound like a much more expensive uke!

Hey, I have just bought a couple of ukuleles. The first song that I am learning is

According to "Cool Hands" the uke man it is a legal requirement! ?

Did you know that you can put a low G string on it and play Flamenco. That is what I am doing with my 2nd ukulele (it will always be a flamenco ukulele because I had to file the nut slot to get the thicker string in).  I found a course on Udemy that teaches ukulele Flamenco.

10 months ago I bought this (pic. above) a Kala U-Bass, so it is a ukulele and also it is not! I love it. I mostly play the songs we sing in church as these are songs I at least play regularly, although I play drums at church, not bass.

Here you can get an idea of the bass ukulele's size which is described as baritone ukulele size. The strings have a soft rubbery feel and they enable such a short scale to have such a low tuning. I read a lot of reviews and chose to ignore the under £200 basses for the shortcomings given in the reviews.

This is the video that persuaded me, listening to an upright bass player demonstrate it amplified and unplugged.

I could not stretch to the solid mahogany model because they are out of my budget range here in the UK. I found this video really helpful

By looking around I managed to get a Kala Rumbler for £299 where many other shops are selling it for £369. I love it!

I will try to use it for the bass line of my next song. Thank you for your advice @Fretless it is much easier to play than a regular bass guitar, especially when my arthritis is playing up.

I have a Kala U-bass, a baritone uke, and a cute pink uke (mostly for decoration, lol).

The Kala U-bass does give an amazing sound. I used it in the past to play bass with a mountain dulcimer group when they asked me to play bass.  Folks were looking around to see where the bass was - it sounded a lot like an upright with the little amp I used. The small scale and no actual frets took me a bit to get used to though (I learned on a full scale 4 string electric bass).

I picked up a baritone ukulele just to play around with, because the chords were similar to guitar chords since the tuning is DGBE. Quite fun to play around with, and I have found some tab and song sheets to play from.

I have been playing tenor uke for some years now. I play jazz, Americana, silly uke songs.  If you place a capo on the fifth fret of a guitar and play only the 4 high strings, you’ll get a uke - GCEA.

Well just so happens that our local stores Facebook posted group ukulele class starting Jan27 for 10 weeks

Thought $160 for the 10 weeks wasn't bad, and might be "fun" in a beginner group on a Sunday afternoons.

Since our big box store (Long and Mcquade) has great rental programs unlike Guitar Center which has basically none.

2 weeks early from first class they had 1/2 price rental day. (Today Jan12)

Along with a $20 rental coupon they give you for signing up,  the guy started a lot of clicking on the machine,

I paid $11 to rent a $150 ukulele from today Jan12 to April 12.

So guess I should look at a couple of YouTube videos before class in 2 weeks.

The "downtown " store posted group guitar lessons on Wednesdays but far to hard to get there from work.

So ukulele class it is..

This is the greatest song ever played on a uke. I always cry a little when I hear the late great Iz play it. Enjoy. Lotsa luck'

That is a shame Doug. Don't give up on the ukulele though, there are always online lessons. I an doing a couple of Udemy ones at the moment. As you are an accomplished guitar playing the switch to ukulele will not be a problem, you should still be able to play at the Hawaiian party. Have fun with it. I am loving mine.
