Not sure if I quite get the question. If you have a 12 string guitar. Yes you can take the octave strings off, but you're going to need a full setup. Especially on the trussrod which is counter acting pull of 12 not 6, so lots of adjustments needed. Can you got from a 6 string to a 12 string, guitar body probably not designed to take the strength of 12 strings, after you get past the bridge and tuners required

How Many Watts Do you Really Need?
Eracer_Team-DougH replied to Randy120's topic in Guitar Gear, Amps, Effects, Pedals
I like how they compare Tube vs Solid State to try and cover "misconceptions " of loudness. And they are the same Then the article goes on to say this farther down: A 50- to 90-watt solid-state amplifier is roughly comparable to a 15- to 20-watt tube amp, making it suitable for small gigs um sure then a tube watt = solid state watt.. that's why they tell you to get triple the power. -

Eracer_Team-DougH replied to DavidMc's topic in Gibson's Learn & Master Guitar
@jambguitar don't forget.. there are lots of external USB (either old USB-A or Newer USB-C) DVD/Blueray players that are typically under $100.. they'll plug in to the USB port (just make sure you get one that matches your port or use an adapter) and watch away -

Eracer_Team-DougH replied to DavidMc's topic in Gibson's Learn & Master Guitar
@DavidMc DVD players are like $30 at Walmart.. and might as well get yourself a HDMI cable too.. but if you have a computer with a DVD or Blueray player in it. look into PavTube software. there are many ripping software's but I use it for 98% of what I need to rip into mp4 I'd be great if Steve re-wrote the whole LMG series under the Guitar Gathering banner and expanded some of the sections as well. Steve's stuff would fit great under Truefire too. but alas we have a Legacy to follow.. -
@Ice9 you missed the point put the guitar on 5, set the amp for tone and volume. Then if you want over driven, turn the guitar to 10, don't have to fiddle around with the amp. You want to clean up, turn guitar back to 5ish If you have your guitar maxed out you can't get any louder than 10 on it which is were you started. You will only be able to go quieter It's like driving your car with your foot to the floor can't go faster only slower

2 types of solos Those that stay in one position and the ones we like hearing are the ones that "bridge" all 5 pentatonic patterns up the neck They say start a loop, take 1 note and get a rhythm going . Add only 1 or 2 notes over time and work with them Another approach is to play parts of each pentatonic pattern . But linking the pentatonics takes more time
-
Why would you turn up your guitar volume all the way up and then adjust your amp volume and tone. You have no where to go on the guitar except down Turn your guitar volume and tone to 5. Then adjust the amp volume and tone. Now you have somewhere to go with the guitar controls

Session 10 - Fingerstyle Guitar
Eracer_Team-DougH replied to NeilES335's topic in Gibson's Learn & Master Guitar
@kenneth F Barre is pretty common jump but you're in Session 10.. finger style.. that means holding chords a long time and trying to be clean with every string, which means you have to adjust your hand and fingers to make them clean all the while you're holding a chord.. which will fatigue a hand quickly,, so jumping to another chord like the F barre maybe slowed down if you're in session 10 .. then you've been playing barre chords from Session 7 onward.. so should be pretty familiar with them.. just the static holding of the chords in Session 10 to cause issues. -

@Nairon good job, Its 4 verses long, might want to record a longer track -
Only Steve knows what "statue of limitations " there is to Legacy Learn and Master Guitar course. Steve has not been in Legacy since around 2015-ish Steve of course created Guitar Gathering site for a his students to Gather and enjoy learning guitar together. Legacy appears to be bailing on all the Learn and Master courses, since there is no longer a support website for them, and is only off loading the quantity of stock of courses. But since he (Steve) hasn't "dusted" off the scripts and created an updated GG Master Guitar series would suggest there must be something. Only Steve knows. As for the disorganized or confusing lesson lists, well it's the way this forum sorts things. There are 3 unpaid volunteers that help moderate the forum and when personal time allows, re-org the sections But most are listed in sequence of how people post. New to old except if there is a subject "pinned" to the top

@Triple-o I've put it aside because I picked up all 10 lessons on Truefire Beginning Blues Guitar,, for $5usa each Total $66 cdn for me (all 10 lessons that were on sale), enjoying it so far. When it get up towards Blues 10, I'll probably re-look at Steve's course again

I can't get past session 3 of the LMG Blues course

I've seen that commented before about boiling them Think about how they're cut off at the tuner I don't leave alot extra at that end, I'd never be able to rewind them Also if they kink, at the tuner quite possibly string will snap. At $7-$20 a pack, you don't need to change them once a month or once ever 30 hrs. I don't see a need to re-use strings

Learn and master Rock Hits
Eracer_Team-DougH replied to Graphic's topic in Gibson's Learn & Master Guitar
Rock Hits was not part of the LMG system, nor anything Steve K had his hands in. I believe its a collection of lessons that Gibson put out on their own learning site at one time and bundled it into several song package. think it was titled Learn and Master Rock Hits as Gibson and Legacy where in a contractual agreement at the time that saw Learn and Master Guitar rebranded to Gibson's Learn and Master Guitar. from what I remember the song instruction was 'hit n miss' teaching from multiple guitarists. Similar to watching a bunch of YouTube video's -
NGD - Gibson ES335
Eracer_Team-DougH replied to Gary Nelson's topic in Guitar Gear, Amps, Effects, Pedals
ABR1 is as easy as it gets,. Replace strings, stretch strings, re-tune to pitch, Press 12th fret (lightly, Gibson's are known for needing a light touch and not mash string to fret board or you'll pull it out of tune) Check tuning at 12th fret, use small screwdriver to adjust the saddle forward to sharpen, backward to flatten string. Make sure all your other adjustments are done first, neck relief, bridge height, before intonation. If you have a saddle that can't go back far enough, you remove the screw turn the saddle around and reinstall and intonate again -
Playing without strumming
Eracer_Team-DougH replied to RollingCodeGuits's topic in Guitar Playing & Technique
yes the constant tapping and percussion gets old fast.. plus his 'gyration's are sort of ... well it was commented by the judges .. "an out of control performance" @RollingCodeGuits BTW Ian Ethan Case as name dropped by Diane .. is a graduate of the Steve Krenz LMG guitar course. very nice guy.. google him. -
$25 isn't so bad and Steve does have sales from time to time Take a look at Steve's 2 lessons on Major Scales https://gx169.infusionsoft.app/app/storeFront/showProductDetail?productId=125

One problem with the analysis Most amps use the same output tubes no matter what channel you are playing . The v1 is usually shared with channel 1 and 2, There is typically 1 or 2 more 12ax7 style input tubes for each channel after the V1, (they could also by 12ay7 or 12au7 depending on the gain of the amp choices) If only channel 1 is failing then possibly a v2 (v3) pre-amp tub could be failing as long as they're not shared by channel 2 And before the splitter tube. This amp probably uses relays to channel switch/change, possibly it is not coming out of channel 2, could be a relay The best part is 12ax7 and EL84'S are cheap. Like under $20 each You don't have to but Mesa branded as they ate just rebranded tubes, Doug's Tubes is good also Check https://www.thetubestore.com/shop-by-amp https://www.eurotubes.com/store/pc/home.asp
