  1. Yeah swing was a wrong choice of words, but couldn't come up with a 1 2 3 1 2 3 feel
  2. @Funkcanna doing well with Minuet in C.. remember it's a Waltz type of song so it has a bit swing to it 1/4, 1/8-1/8, 1/8-1/8 per measure almost a triplet .. spoken like tr-pl-et,, Well actually, first beat is longer, than the rest; so trp-ll-et as Neil says.. Session 4 is a very good time to break out the metronome .. yeah I rarely use one.. but you'll need it for future recordings once you get the multitrack recordings like the other members put together in the 'Recording Challenge' Section
  3. I posted this in a Ukulele post else where but probably deserves to be here. I've signed up for beginner group ukulele lessons at the local store Jan 27-2019.. and I've rented a Uke for the grand sum of $12 for 3 months. but the lessons haven't started just yet. plinking on it, took a song book out of the library while waiting for the class to start. but I've be volunteered by my wife for a retirement community Hawaiian Party on March 2, to play a couple of songs.. Wife thought a 'standard' is Tiny Bubbles. so without further ado with out lessons (shows) and 30min practice time.. here is my very first take of Tiny Bubbles on Ukulele. (Post edit, I was the only one to sign up for group lessons, ukulele class canceled)
  4. ha ha.. I haven't even started my ukulele group lessons yet. but the wife and I are invited to a Hawaiian party on March 2.. I've been volunteered to play Tiny Bubbles and Happy Birthday already and who knows what else.. already playing live to an audience... no pressure ok.. 30min practice time and first take of Tiny Bubbles on Ukulele recorded from my phone.
  5. I've seen the guitar before.. never in 'action' more skill in that video than I'll ever have
  6. well it's hard to tell on this type of comparison video as they even said they compensated for the difference in sound of the guitar. if one projected more,, so you eq'd them , so you could make a tonal judgement.. they just lost they comparison. while the Orangewood sounds pretty good, I can hear the difference between the Collings even though it's eq matched in the video; Collings sounds fuller with a larger bottom end if you gave Joe Bonamassa a $275 guitar and you gave me one of Joe's $200,000 Les Paul's.. Joe would still sound amazing.. I'd still sound like poo. real story is.. go to the store, try as many as you can regardless of price. and pick the tone you can afford
  7. Well just so happens that our local stores Facebook posted group ukulele class starting Jan27 for 10 weeks Thought $160 for the 10 weeks wasn't bad, and might be "fun" in a beginner group on a Sunday afternoons. Since our big box store (Long and Mcquade) has great rental programs unlike Guitar Center which has basically none. 2 weeks early from first class they had 1/2 price rental day. (Today Jan12) Along with a $20 rental coupon they give you for signing up, the guy started a lot of clicking on the machine, I paid $11 to rent a $150 ukulele from today Jan12 to April 12. So guess I should look at a couple of YouTube videos before class in 2 weeks. The "downtown " store posted group guitar lessons on Wednesdays but far to hard to get there from work. So ukulele class it is..
  8. Easiest on the fingers is a nylon string.. although most classicals have wider necks. Just keep switching on both electric and acoustic It gets better with time
  9. Taylor bolt on neck shims vs bridge sanding to lower action on a Taylor guitar, thoughts? Namptha for cleaning nitro finished guitars?
  10. Phil Keaggy only has 9 fingers and plays mean finger style. Improvise Adapt Overcome
  11. The "Live Lessons " varies from lessons to special guests. I'd say when Steve plays finger style or gets into Jazz that the level jumps to into an intermediant/advanced level The next show is starting the year off and Greg Voros guitar setup
  12. Hi Ozy. That was our "old" home for over 12yrs, this is our new "amazing " home. If Steve could buy the domain name and redirect everyone here would be great, but he can't and there are literally thousands of copies of Learn & Master Guitar and Gibson Learn & Master Guitar out there all referencing Legacy site. You found us, that's the main thing. Welcome aboard, no live lessons next week but Steve plans on one Jan8.
  13. Sessions 10 to 20 are "tools" for your bag as Steve calls them. They are not really one after the other like session 1 to 9 are. So you can step through each lesson above 9, how much of a "master" of each lesson is your choice Yes there are a lot of chords for jazz as you are expanding the voicings of chords. Steve introduced more than 30 shapes in his fret board workout series. I highly recommend his Jazz work out. https://gx169.infusionsoft.app/app/storeFront/showProductDetail?productId=151 For $25 it's worth the money to work on jazz chords.
  14. so I see @RichLich posting for the first time in the topics and in the Chat area. and I fired up my DAW for the first time in a very long time.. (How do I use this thing??) got me thinking about this forum and how many features it has and does everyone know what it has and can do. when we 'beta' tested last year, we tested all the features and Steve worked out the bugs with us. all this got me to thinking.. how many people really know what it can do? how many people use say.. Sticky Notes ?? Steve does with his adverts for things.. but we can too. plus a host of many other things, I can't even remember. so I wonder how useful a YouTube type video series say only a couple minutes in length each to teach the features found in this forum??
  15. I recorded his speeches and only the first and last songs of the night.. next up second last show for Canada Jan 26 2019
  16. It's called "intonation" Adjusted buy moving your bridge saddles back a bit to lengthen the string
  17. The agility video is geared towards speed and accuracy (I assume) Fretboard Theory 1, is geared towards learning scale patterns. Both if your time allows or alternate
  18. sounds like a great trip. it amazes me week after week how Steve takes over George's store.. I try to put up as much of Gruhn's inventory Steve is using during the live lessons chat as I can (my way of thinking it helps Steve out a bit (maybe it will sell some inventory)).
  19. @Bob63047 good choice theres nobody there to talk to Nothing says you can't go there (while it's still up) and read all you want.
  20. I wouldn't worry about it.. the forum 'died/dead' and everyone is here.. only 1 person posts over there now.. and they're all alone. Steve the instructor is here along with a good number of LMG students.. you'll find a LMG section here.. ask your questions and you'll get your answers as a good number have now finished the course. Cheers
  21. Nicely done gents. @IanD what video editor did you use to import the audio track so you could add the words
  22. I'm bais'd.. the Eracer Team ET5 head.. pairs nicely with a 1x12, 2x12, or 4x12 and has power scaling of the B+ power rail. not just a resistive load power reduction .. but my main amp is a Traynor YGL2 which is 30w.. and I need to add power scaling to it sometime
  23. for home use I would think all you need is about 5w tube (15w solid state) and a 12" speaker. that's a small amp.. if you're talking more than 12w tube.. it's way too loud for a house unless people really like your playing
