Member Map - "Pinning" Your Exact Address/Location
Grog replied to matonanjin's topic in Guitar Open Talk
I pinned my location by using the closest city. My marker started moving up the West Coast. I just put my address minus the city, since I live in the county, and it has stayed in place. -
Six you may want to get yourself a Grolsch washer or two. Put these on your peg after the strap. They work great, never lost a loose strap with one on. You can get them at a home Brew store by the bag. You don't need to pay premium prices from Joe B. the merchandiser. Cheers This bag is $8.50 on Amazon.

Who is your favorite guitar manufacturer?
Grog replied to Cindy's topic in Guitar Gear, Amps, Effects, Pedals
Hi Cindy: This fact was driven home to me in spades yesterday. Go to Sweetwater.com and search on Left handed acoustic guitars. There are 1 or 2 Taylors. There are pages of Martins. Most are so new that they don't have pictures yet. Availability or even a chance to order a model is a big selling point to a lefty. Cheers -
I have some Jim Dunlop picks myself and I prefer them. I have left thumb metal thumb picks and plastic thumb picks from Dunlop as well as the Stubbies. But my favourite guitar picks, my fingers.

Sounds to me like John's Body Beat could be a cheap thrill too.

Live Lessons: January 23rd - Guitar Care with Greg Voros
Grog replied to Steve Krenz's topic in 2018 Live Lessons
Greg I am considering a nylon string guitar. I have heard people complaining of problems with Cordoba guitars and the 12th Fret. Do you know anything about this. My choices are limited since I am a lefty.- 14 replies

Entry Level Nylon String Guitar
Grog replied to rkl312's topic in Guitar Gear, Amps, Effects, Pedals
I just asked my rep at Sweetwater for price quotes on the two guitars I like. the GK Studio Negra Lefty MSRP is over $1000. Sweetwater's quote $699.00 The 55FCE Lefty MSRP $1995.00 Sweetwater's quote to me $1199.00 same as my Stratocaster was. Sweetwater's Luthiers do a 50 point evaluation before they shipped to you. They come set up and ready to go. Just a thought. Good Luck -

Entry Level Nylon String Guitar
Grog replied to rkl312's topic in Guitar Gear, Amps, Effects, Pedals
I have bought equipment from Sweetwater.com. Not only are the people great, my account manager has been Kurt Martin, he has been a real help. Found me left handed guitars, Martin and Fender and is great with advice on equipment. It is checked out, put through multiple tests and evaluations by their Luthiers before they ship to you. Prices are good as well. I am not affiliated with them either, just a good place to do business with. And you get a bag of candy in each shipment. Cheers -

Wow what a happy story Mantonanjin. I hope she carries through with her start. Looks like she will from the look on her face. -

Who is your favorite guitar manufacturer?
Grog replied to Cindy's topic in Guitar Gear, Amps, Effects, Pedals
Thanks Plantsman. I did list this site, on the L&M Guitar site, as a resource for lefties. http://leftyfretz.com/ A lot of information on this site. I even learned that the founder of Gibson was a lefty. -

The do make some lefty models Cindy. Hard to get though. I had an easier time with Martin. Yamaha, you can buy lefty acoustics in stores. I have one. Wrecks my fingers I find. My Martin is easier on the fingers, slightly wider Nut for Finger Style and it has a built in tuner. I just don't play my SG or Strat as much. Also My Martin is a "Performing Arts Series" so it has a cutaway and it is also not a Dreadnaught. Easier on the arms. -
Who is your favorite guitar manufacturer?
Grog replied to Cindy's topic in Guitar Gear, Amps, Effects, Pedals
I can't pick one. they all make some good guitars. From Squire to Epiphone, they all have some great guitars. I play my Martin more than my other guitars. But I am limited in that I am a lefty and the manufacturers will not do all their lines for you in left handed. Taylor thumbs their nose at you from my experience.
