  1. @NeilES335 I agree we don't want any guitar players getting crushed because they are not paying attention to their environment. Watch those crosswalks people.
  2. Guy Plays Guitar While Walking to Work Now that's dedication.
  3. I have recorded acoustics many different ways. I have used stereo microphones with one pointed at the sound hole and one pointed at the 12th fret. I have used my Fishman Loudbox Mini DI (Direct) amplifier output because the sound is great. Finally I have plugged acoustics into my limited pedal selection (Chorus and Delay) directly into the audio interface which also had good quality. Microphones can be tough unless you have a very quiet area to record in, and playing loud enough for the microphones. Better microphones mean better recordings.
  4. Ideally, you use the strings the guitar was designed for. 10's are usually for electric guitars. You can use 10's, but they will not help in the long run, and they will negatively effect your tone. Pretty much every acoustic guitar uses Light (12's) or Medium (13's) strings. Eventually, you can adjust to any of these string gauges. Don't press so hard, and keep practicing.
  5. I have all the Fretboard Workouts. The workouts give you a great way to work on your physical skills. Speed and accuracy will be your rewards. The workouts also reinforce the different subjects to use guitar theory with real skills.
  6. @Tom D Good to see you are still playing. My finger still hurts when I do certain things. Playing guitar doesn't seem to aggravate the finger much. Keep working on that physical therapy.
  7. @Nutty 2 Learning to mix is a whole new skill set. The remix sounds good. Hopefully your hands will loosen up.
  8. My work is done here. ?
  9. @Nutty1 Well done, I like the harmonica a lot.
  10. This isn't exactly EQ, but it some goods tips about using your tone and volume controls. Joe Bonamassa's Tone Tips
  11. I just mean relaxing your thumb to lift it slightly off the neck when you move.
  12. @RubberSoul I don't know what kind of amp you are using. I keep my volume around 3. Gain will make it louder so I set it low for most things unless I want a hard rock sound. I usually have all my Bass, Middle, Treble fairly flat just straight down the middle. You can always experiment by setting them neutral then listening to the difference. You can also turn the down the tone knob on your guitar. Find your own sound.
  13. @Mike Well you are struggling at 120 bpm which isn't for light-weights. You have come a long way already. Maybe in a few more weeks or months you will cross that hill. You need to work on releasing the thumb. Practice slow, to play fast. If you aren't having fun, you're doing it wrong.
  14. @Mike Other than cleaning it I think you just need to adjust your attack. The other thing is the guitar neck will naturally age with just your hand moving on it. I have a Gibson Les Paul, and even with waxing it is very clear I made an impression in first position with all my practice. It is subtle, but the cherry finish is noticeably lighter in color.
  15. I use Turtle Wax Express Shine every time I change the strings. I remove all the strings, do a thorough cleaning then apply Express Shine. I can definitely tell the difference after a string change. Beyond that it is practice and technique adjustment.
  16. No the voice isn't broken, but I can't play that song and sing it too with all the guitar playing. ?
  17. I don’t usually watch the rig rundowns. They are a little long, and this one is no exception. The Edge’s 40+ guitars take up the first 30 minutes. He uses 12 watt combo amps and the effects setup is amazing. It is well worth watching for the guitars alone. https://www.premierguitar.com/articles/27653-rig-rundown-u2s-the-edge
  18. I am back at it. This is my first week of playing in a month. Playing guitar is my physical therapy. The G chord hurt for a couple days, and the B Barre chord is a little painful for now. I posted this recording in the Monthly Challenge as proof of life. Hallelujah Nylon
  19. This is my first week of playing in a month after fracturing my ring finger on my fretting hand. Guitar is my physical therapy. I am playing my Taylor Nylon string through my new Boss Chorus Ensemble CE-5, and Flashback Delay pedals recorded direct to the audio interface. Hallelujah Nylon
  20. @fluidguitar Nothing is impossible, but I would say theory makes a big difference. I think of it this way. You can learn a few words in a foreign language to get by, but if you really want to be understood you need to be able to speak fluently. Music is language, and we are all learning the musical alphabet and grammar for proper sentence structure to speak coherently.
  21. Way to go Henk!
  22. @DianeB I have seen Kansas a couple of times, once with the original arena line-up and once with the new in a smaller club. Kansas has singing, and well known songs. Pat Metheny is a different experience. Pat Metheny is guitar focused with no vocals, and a small backup band. Kansas is rock; Pat is more jazz. They are both worth seeing so you better make a choice.
  23. @mark_h Good to know. I have a ways to go before I could pull up 100 songs from memory.
  24. @matonanjin It looks like you are the leader of the band. At least you have seniority.
