  1. Thanks Mike and Randy for the feedback. Yes, you get all sorts of opinions on the discussion boards. Glad that we have this forum to share some first hand experiences.

  2. @NeilES335 I love that song Neil and you played it beautifully, very enjoyable. @Eracer_Team-DougH Doug, an excellent recording from you, the multiple parts made a great mix, I loved it. @Wim VD1 That was gorgeous Wim, you have an excellent touch and you coax a great tone out of your guitars as always. @Nairon That was superb, you have great guitar tone there too. it was smooth and silky. Very enjoyable. I hope we hear a lot more form you.

  3. I've had two Ovation Elites and a Breedlove 12-string in the past, and currently have two Breedlove six strings. Never had any problems with any of them, and I think the pinless bridge is a great design. Like Randy, I protect the top behind the bridge when I change strings, but I use the cardboard string packaging.

  4. This is meant as a gift for everyone in this community. At least I’m hopeful it is perceived as such. I’ve been thinking about doing this shortly after the site was taken down and I’ve finally been working on it for the last few weeks. As of this moment, it’s still incomplete and it is, quite obviously, a far cry from the original. Many files were not β€œcaptured” and are missing, unfortunately. I tried to do my best with what I found. And this is the result. I deeply appreciate everything that @Steve Krenz has given us all, over the years. From the first Learn and Master course to the renewed Gibson version, the Song Hits, the Fingerstyle course, the Spotlight Series Blues course, that first very shy stream he did on Ustream from his house that grew over time to become the Youtube Live Lesson series from Gruhn Guitars (and lately from his living room) that we all love and praise, all the interviews he shared with us, the amazing content produced for Gibson’s Skills House, and most of all the perseverance and resilience he taught and inspired through all of this. Like I mentioned before, this is still unfinished. I'm still working on it. The β€œInterviews” section will be up and running in a few days time, hopefully. On the β€œGuitar Apprentice” section, only one song is available, but I’ll try to have the other two finished not too long from now. And I’ll try to update the β€œSong Lessons” right after that, but it will probably take a little more time to finish. But the best parts are done. Namely the "Foundation Lessons", the "Style Lessons" and the "Power Workouts". A lot of files are missing and I try to mention that every time it occurs. Some lessons have no video. Others have no TAB. Full screen view is not an available option. I tried to make the layout as close to the original as possible and practical. Google Sites is a great resource, although quite limited, and my programing and design skills are close to none. It has a lot of limitations and it’s not as fluid as the original site was, but then again this is a remake, a β€œcover version” if you will. A simple indexing site for scattered data. It’s an attempt to recall and revive something I loved and followed faithfully back when it was operational. It was quite a shock for me when I tried to access the Skills House site and found it to be down. Gone. Everything. For good! I was sad. And, quite honestly, a bit hangry. I felt β€œrobbed”. Fortunately, for all of us fans and followers of Steve’s work, there is this β€œthing” called β€œInternet Archive” with its β€œWayback Machine”. And with a bit of time, luck and devotion, this is now up and running. I really hope you enjoy it. I hope it helps you in any way. Big or small. I hope you can find value in it. I hope it makes your guitar journey easier, more pleasant and fulfilling. Steve has been sharing outstanding content through many platforms, namely this forum and his Youtube channel. And I look forward to future content he has to share. This is just a humble way of remembering some of his past online lessons in a navigation friendlier format. So, without further ado, here is the Good Ol’ Skills House -> bit.ly/skillshouse Enjoy!

  5. Finally, after many years. my LIne6 TonePort Silver gave up the ghost. So I now have a Focusrite interface. I'm also trying to learn Ableton DAW. Like starting over. 6. I have a 2009 Ovation Standard Balladeer with a pinless bridge. This guitar is solid and always in tune when it comes out of the case. At 12 years old it is in great shape. I have to put down a post it note next to the bridge while putting on new strings to prevent scratching. Ovation has used pinless bridges for decades. Takamine and Breedlove are quality manufacturers so I would not expect issues. Takamine thinks pinless is good enough for its Pro series so that should tell you something. If you search you will find a lot of opinions. Traditionalist will want to believe the other design is inferior.

  9. Here is a LMG Song Hits song from Session 4 All I Have to do Is Dream, written by Felice & Boudleaux Bryant I ended up using 3 guitars and 1 bass. I didn't want just another strumming rhythm so I did a fingerstyle rhythm on the Epiphone Sheraton semi-hollow body guitar in the middle pickup position running through a rented Fender Pricneton FSR65 with Cannabis Rex speaker. had the Reverb and Tremo on to try and give it a bit of a dreamy state. the lead was on my Gibson Les Paul, in the treble/lead pickup with even more tremo added. the 'super lead' was done on my Fender Strat on the bridge pickup (I backed down the reverb and tremo for this spotlight) to fill in the bottom end I used my Dean Bass again. the rhythm track was done in the open position with open chords (except for the Bm) the lead melody was played in the 4th position the super lead at the end was played at the 12th position

  10. To get things started, here's my recording of "Moon River" from "The Song Hits" . I hope you enjoy it! "Moon River" is a song composed by Henry Mancini with lyrics by Johnny Mercer. It was originally performed by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tiffany's, winning an Academy Award for Best Original Song.[1] The song also won the 1962 Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.[2] Moon River.mp3

  13. UPDATE The "Guitar Apprentice" section is now finished. All three songs - Foreigner's "Hot Blooded", ZZ Top's "LaGrange" and Alabama's "Mountain Music" - are now available once again. My next and last endeavor in this project will be the "Song Lessons" section. I suppose it will take quite a lot more time to finish. But I will probably be updating this topic with batches that get done along the way, instead of waiting for all 35 songs to be available. I'll keep you all posted!

  14. UPDATE Just finished the "Interviews" section. Apart from the absence of videos for Russ Barenberg's interviews, everything else in this part of the site is available for you to explore. Enjoy! P.S.: I'll be working on the "Guitar Apprentice" section next, so that both ZZ Top's "LaGrange" and Alabama's "Mountain Music" become available as well. I'll try to have it done by the end of the week, hopefully.
