  1. Although I haven't been playing guitar for the last couple of years I knew that if I ever travelled to Nashville I would have to visit that holy grail of guitar shops... Gruhn Guitars. Well this week I was in Nashville for a convention and made the trek to Gruhn's shop. Well not only did I get to have a sit down with George Gruhn himself and meet Greg Voros but guess who walked into the shop... Vince Gill. Well what a gentleman he is... and just a regular guy. You would never know he was a country music star and a member of the Eagles. Not only did he sign a Gruhn's t-shirt for me (as did George) but he also played guitar for me. I have been looking for something to inspire me to reconnect with my guitars. Perhaps even return to my Learn and Master guitar course (I stopped at session 17... it was like I walked into a wall at no.17!) Well my visit to Gruhn's may just be the inspiration I was looking for. I have attached a photo of Vince playing for George and myself.

I am also learning to use my new Scarlett Focusrite with a Boss Ve2 Vocal Harmonist pedal. This is "Purple Rain" by Prince. RIP Prince ?

  4. I have just build an es style from kit. now thinking of doing another. It provided quite an insight into stetting up and personalizing a guitar. Has anyone else gone this route, thoughts comments.

  8. Ah-ha! I see it now. For some reason, in my book the tempos don't start until after Chattahoochee. Of course, thats the song I'm working on. I have to start slow and increase bpms by 5 until I feel I'm getting close. The reason I like the jam along bpm post is, I don't even try the CD until I can do what the post says. Then I usually avoid being humiliated by the fast one. With Chattahoochee I'm up to 80 bpm and I think I getting close but not quite there. Probably 90 bpm before I pop the CD in. Thanks again and have a great, hopefully long, weekend!

  11. Old guy, you asked in the video about any advice regarding the neck fit to the body. After many years of experience woodworking and I have all the tools. I would sand or shave the neck joint until it is a perfect fit. It would be a weaker joint if you used glue to fill the gaps. A perfect fit also evens the vibrations transferred from the neck to the body reducing any stress points. Just my take on it. Henk

  12. I'm a new Oldy member. Was a regular L&MG forum member since 2008. Havent been here for a couple years and recently couldnt find the Forum until an old Guitar Mate from Chicago 'Earth47' sent me an email with the new location of the Forum. I look forward to touching base with some old L&MG friends & meeting new 'Krenz Gang' friends Peter 'Slug'
