  1. Abbey Road has always been my favorite Beatles album. Hard to believe it is 50 years old! Have you seen the new Abbey Road Volkswagen ad (with no Beatles)? The Volkswagen has been correctly parked as well 🙂. Wonder why they didn't duplicate the license plate. More (Volkswagen-related) Abbey Road information here.
  2. Congrats - love that nylon-string sound!
  3. FYI - My 'Sitting at home, alone' percentage is about 75%. 🙂
  4. There are many fish in the sea - something great will turn up!
  5. I'm with Bryan - my favorite is whatever I happen to be holding at any given time! So many guitars, so little time... 🙂
  6. @matonanjin Every Martin Clapton model that I have played has sounded great. Also - I don't know much about Martins - are their signature models made in their custom shop? I do believe that they use better wood on all their signature models. Good luck with these guitars Ron. Let us know what you decide to do!
  7. Thanks Ian - Great message. I was 'asked' to leave my 5th grade band and for years after, felt that I was a musical failure. That feeling persisted until found Steve's course and met Steve. You and your teacher are so right - if it gives you joy, just do it!
  8. Kevin - This is not an answer to your question - but I don't change nylon strings very often. I probably leave nylon strings on 6-9 months before changing them (and I play my nylon string guitar almost every day). You are correct - it takes a week (or more) for nylon strings to settle in. I also find that nylon strings are affected by changes in the weather much more than steel strings. I typically need to tune my nylon string guitar before playing while I have several steel string guitars that always stay in tune.
  9. We certainly live in a golden age for acoustic guitar - there are so many choices for acoustic guitars and accessories that it is mind boggling. And great quality can be found in just about every price range. Good luck with your acoustic amp search - let us know what you find!
  10. Yeah, you tell 'em Ron! And don't forget this little piece of evidence! 😉
  11. Your wife is too suspicious 🙂 The science is settled!
  12. Colts owner spends over $5 million at guitar auction The darn guy kept outbidding me! 🙂
  13. Kudos to @DianeB for her day by day reporting of the conference. The only energy I could muster at the end of the day was to turn down the covers and fall into bed. Highlights for me were: The meet and greet - It was wonderful to see old friends once again and to meet newcomers. Since most on the forum don't use their real names, it was great to finally link a face and real name to a forum ID. Just before turning in on Tuesday, Collin walked me through his fingerstyle lessons for the week. He is as talented an educator as he is a guitar player. The fingerstyle concert at the conclusion of day one was wonderful. Collin, Van Larkins, Phil Keaggy, and Russ Barenberg were terrific. I had long wanted to meet Russ Barenberg - the tone that he gets out of his guitar is truly inspiring. Closed out day one with Collin and friends (Antonio, Forest, and Van) at ML Rose's. We didn't close the place down, but were still out way past my bed time. 🙂 Day two was filled with great workshops - including a very helpful one by Steve that focused on hearing chord changes. Day three included one of my favorite workshops - Steve and Dino Pastin on improvisation. Day three ended with Jack Pearson's Birthday Bash at 3rd and Lindsley - the music was awesome - the drunk women dancing in front of us, not so much. It all happened too fast and was over too quickly. I am already looking forward to next year! Photo below with Russ Barenberg
  14. I started with the fingerstyle course and found that as a beginner, the course material was way too advanced for me. I then purchased the main Learn and Master Guitar course and set the fingerstyle course aside until I reached session 10. As you can see from my signature, I still have not progressed very far on the fingerstyle course! 🙂 Good luck!
  15. I think that course is currently on sale at Truefire.
  16. Jack Pearson Birthday Bash tickets purchased - that is going to be a great show!
