I have been attempting to play guitar and sing at the same time. Cor, it is really difficult! There are lots af mistakes here but it is as good as I an do now.
I am also learning to use my new Scarlett Focusrite with a Boss Ve2 Vocal Harmonist pedal.
This is "Purple Rain" by Prince. RIP Prince ?
Well done, @Nutty 1.
I really like the sound of both your guitar and your voice.

Thanks for your nice words and useful comments, @Old Guy and @NeilES335.
I did some post processing and added delay and reverb. Below is the new version. I think it sounds better indeed.
Robben Ford on our Live Lessons! That's something to look forward to. I like his mix of blues and jazz.
Take care.

This Slow Blues in G - solo was a long one to learn to play by heart and I had to go back to daily practice on pull-offs to get some tricky legato parts under my fingers.
In this solo, the G major pentatonic is played over the 1 Chord and the G minor pentatonic over the 4 and the 5 Chord.
Thanks for listening.

Hey that’s great. You are an inspiration. I too have always thought that I did not have the talent to play the guitar. I just started the program last night. I’m excited to learn. I hope to be able to play as well as you some day. Thanks. I’ll look back on your post when I get frustrated or want to give up. Not if but when because I’m sure it will happen. Thanks for the motivation.
Jeff
I wish you all the best on your guitar journey, Jeff.
It is indeed much more about consistent practice than about talent.

Thanks @NeilES335, @IanD AND @Oldjock.
Neil, I share your pain regarding the difficulty of recording a clean take. I can play a song cleanly in practice dozens of times, but it's a whole different story when the microphone is in front of me.
Another great one, @WATSON43.
In the past I also got nervous just by pressing the record button in Garageband. But I must say it has improved. Now I just do several takes of a song and select the best one, or I cut and paste the best parts of different recordings into a final track.

That's great, Neil. Really nice work on the chords and the melody. I enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.

Your plan shows great dedication to further develop your guitar skills!
What helps to stay focused and motivated is to set medium to long term goals on specific music styles you want to master, and then work on the skills required for that.

This is my first attempt to submit a song. The song is Blue Bayou from the movie The Man who Fell to Earth with David Bowie. The song was recorded on my iPhone.

Very nice playing and singing, Henk.

Super job as always @Wim VD1
I really liked your interpretation of the song (which is primarily an organ tune... ) and very well recorded too. Was that in 2 tracks?
Regards Neil
Thanks, @NeilES335.
The recording was in 4 tracks: one for the chords, one for a simple bass line, one for the first part of the solo with a little reverb, and a last one for the second part of the solo with lots of reverb.
It was done in two evenings of fun and experimenting.

"Green Onions" has been used extensively in television, film and advertising, so I am glad that it fits into the challenge for this month.
I tried to mimic the organ by plucking chords. It was a real fun one to learn.

That sounds fantastic, Kevin and Isa. Your voices blend very well. Great guitar playing as well.
Making music together and sharing the passion is one of the best things in life.

Last year, I got to know Stig Trip as finalist in the "guitar player of the year 2018" contest. He is an amazing guitar player.
This is the latest video on his YouTube channel.
He is swapping pick-ups in the middle of a beautiful looper arrangement.

Great job with that Wim as usual! Maybe you'd like to try this backing track on my SoundCloud station. I can't take credit for it. It's in the BB King style. https://soundcloud.com/search?q=neiles335
Thanks Neil. I just started learning a solo in BB King style on "The thrill is gone". It's 24 bars long, so it will take a while to learn to play it from memory.
How is your guitar journey going?

In LMG session 18, Steve teaches us how to jazz up chord progressions.
That background, together with the Jazz Chords Fretboard Workout, helped me a lot when learning this slow blues.
Thanks for listening,
Wim.

A bit more than 2 years ago, I was working my way through session 6 of LMG and The Song Hits and recorded this Silver Bells.
I wish you all a nice Xmas season.

Fantastic!! Texas Shuffles are not easy to get down cleanly. Palm muting those open strings is HARD. Well done, sir. Sounded great!
Thanks, Old Guy,
the fretting hand muting is the biggest challenge to me.

Here's my contribution for this months challenge. It's a rough recording and i was going to post it on the other thread but i thought is was more appropriate for this months challenge, being the holidays and all. Hope you enjoy.

Hi Danny,
that is an absolutely interesting sound you are creating here. It makes me think of pedal steel guitar.
Beautiful and original rendition. I have listened to it several times. Thanks for sharing.

From Freddie King to Stevie Ray Vaughan is a logical step ?.
It is still work in progress, but here is my attempt to play Texas shuffle.
Thanks for listening,
