  1. @Bob63047 we were getting a very high proportion of spam posters on the old site, lots of which were not even writing in the language of the forum. And then ........ there was a big problem with the site security certificate, I (and many others) kept getting security warnings and our devices were "blocking" the site, it lasted for weeks and weeks. I do not think that I have seen any spam posts here where it felt like I was reporting them every day on the "old" forum (I am on UK time so in the early morning when I go on the forum it is the middle of the night for our excellent administrators). I think the old site was built using old technology but this site is a lot more advanced . I am glad that you are here with us Bob!
  2. If Taylor do charge you for the repair you should send Mr Sand the bill and ask him to settle it up with you.
  3. Thank you for telling us about this Fred, I am so sorry that this has happened to your lovely guitar. I have come across other guitar set up/repair tales of horror on the internet and this makes me a bit wary of taking any of mine to a luthier that I know nothing about. I too have the Greg Voros' Guitar Setup and Maintenance DVD set (it is marketed under the Learn & Master" label and I highly recommend it. I hope that you get your guitar sorted out. Really, the shop that messed it up should have to pay a real Luthier to fix it. Edit - I have just read your post above that came out while I was typing. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. It looks like Taylor are on the case, hopefully this nightmare will end soon. Perhaps you can copy that email from Mr Sand to them as it is an admission of culpability. There is no way that you should have to pay for the repair.
  4. I could not stretch to the solid mahogany model because they are out of my budget range here in the UK. I found this video really helpful By looking around I managed to get a Kala Rumbler for £299 where many other shops are selling it for £369. I love it! I will try to use it for the bass line of my next song. Thank you for your advice @Fretless it is much easier to play than a regular bass guitar, especially when my arthritis is playing up.
  5. I have the technology but not the capability! ? You are right, it is something that I should be working at. I need to study vocal harmonies and learn how to do it. If I am going to do ABBA songs I also need to learn how to sing and wink at the same time. ?
  6. Thank you Randy. There were some guitar harmonies in the sheet music, you are right, I should have a go at adding them in.
  7. Thank you Ian, I am really trying to get my mixes less muddy and trying to produce the desired sound whilst delving a lot deeper into GarageBand.
  8. Thank you @Fretless I see what you mean about the sound. I love the upright bass sound!
  9. Thank you for your kind comments @Wim VD1, yes I will work more on my timing, it is dreadful! For the lead guitar I used "Surfing' in Stereo" amp with "Guitar Sweetener" EQ and "Surfing' in Stereo" with "Clean up guitar" EQ for one rhythm channel and "Brit and Clean" amp with "Classic Guitar Improve" EQ for the other rhythm track. The Bass guitar was "Modern Stack" amp with "E-Bass EQ"EQ
  10. Here is my training this month. I have attempted to do a cover version of "Eagle" by ABBA. It is pretty bad but I believe that I have learnt a lot by trying to do it!? I tried to sing it but my singing was absolutely dreadful ?so I have done the melody using an acoustic guitar through a GarageBand amp. It is heaps better than my singing but it is still not all that good. I am wondering if I made a mistake in the chord progression. Cover of ABBA's "Eagle"

  15. Wow, lovely, well played @Wim VD1. I always enjoy a well played blues!
  16. Hey, I have just bought a couple of ukuleles. The first song that I am learning is According to "Cool Hands" the uke man it is a legal requirement! ? Did you know that you can put a low G string on it and play Flamenco. That is what I am doing with my 2nd ukulele (it will always be a flamenco ukulele because I had to file the nut slot to get the thicker string in). I found a course on Udemy that teaches ukulele Flamenco.
  17. Doug, I am sure we will enjoy listening to anything that you record. Don't be shy you are amongst friends here. Anyhow you are way better than me!
  18. Superb @Texaspackerfan well played and sang, I really enjoyed it.
  19. This has been my experience also, I sometimes even ask for comments to help me improve and have always received positive feedback. That is why I fought the technology problems to get back on this forum. You guys have helped me in a massive way!
  20. Awwww Doug you did miss me this month! I usually do a superb job of bringing the standard down?. I was going to prepare something but I got ill and then my hubby got ill too. We are both back up to normal (well normal for us?) so I hope to be able to assault everyone's ears in the November Challenge.
  21. Superb @Wim VD1great sound and I love the rhythm. Excellent @Randy120 beautifully played and sang.
