  1. Steve on the Jumbotron! Sometimes, I play the DVD's on my mac and then use Airplay to my AppleTV on the big screen in my family room. This way I can better see Steve's fingering and which strings or notes he's playing. I also stand in front of the tv with the music stand raised up and the practice book next to me. I usually do this when no one else is home because I think I look like a bit of a dork! lol Bill

  2. Ian, That's great news, I think you deserve the recognition. There's a beautiful message in the song that maybe someone needs to hear. I know it really inspired me. I've gone back and listened to it many many times. Congratulations! Harry

  4. Good article Randy, I had a THR 10 just like the one in the article. It's a great choice for bedroom volumes and silent recording. Can't really say anything bad about it.

  6. I'll add this, I use the PreSonus Audio Box 22vsl and run PreSonus Studio One Producer DAW. I monitor with KRK KNS-8400 headphones. I'm currently researching options for studio monitors. However, my music room isn't treated so that's kind of a concern too. Just this past week I ordered a Two Notes Captor from Sweetwater, let me tell you this thing is amazing. If you have a tube amp, the Captor paired with Two Notes Wall of Sound is a must have for silent recording. I can record my Hot Rod Deluxe at any volume at any time of the day or night. If you know anything about the HRD you'll know their too loud for home recording unless you're home alone. The sweet spot on my HRD is from 2 thru 6, depending on what tone I'm trying to achieve. So my chain is, guitar>pedals>amp>Two Notes Captor>interface/headphones>computer. Harry

  7. for home use I would think all you need is about 5w tube (15w solid state) and a 12" speaker. that's a small amp.. if you're talking more than 12w tube.. it's way too loud for a house unless people really like your playing

  8. Sorry I don't have an opinion of these amps per se; but after watching the review of the Voc VT40X it looks pretty complicated to me. Are you a person who likes to fiddle with settings looking for a certain tone? How LOUD do you want it? I learned that the wattage isnt necessarily indicative of volume, nor is digital vs tube or speaker size For home use personally I'd think a 10 " speaker is plenty. There are some small amps with smaller speakers that have great sound. My only advice is; KISS.... (Keep It Simple Silly) Here is Sweetwater's Amp Buying Guide; I hope this helps some; https://www.sweetwater.com/insync/guitar-amp-buying-guide/

  9. Hey everyone, I don't have the ability to play difficult pieces (yet), so spend quite a lot of time trying to play simple pieces well. This song is fairly simple, but I wanted to work on maintaining an even fingerstyle arpeggio tempo (without a 'nome) whilst maintaining a gentle, but controlled vocal. I usually record at least some of my attempts, because I find the instant feedback really helps me to learn and improve (even/especially if it sounds really bad). Anyway, I was quite pleased with how this session went. This is one, continuous 'live' take (one of about 6, the others were not so good!) that I simply recorded on a Zoom portable recorder and then I uploaded it into Logic just to add a bit of compression and gain to bring the levels up. 10. @Wim VD1 Fantastic! You have developed a great blues feel and tone. The timing and interpretation were both great and leave me wanting more. Ian

  11. On my Blues journey, I am working on a cover of Eric Clapton's version of Freddie King's Tore Down.I added the fills, but decided not to work out the solo yet.Unfortunately I can't sing. So I ended up recording the vocal melody line as a separate guitar track. Thanks for listening, Wim
