    Thank you Ron, this is really good. It is always great to refresh the memory. I tend to leave my compressor on in my usual settings but I should play with it more especially when I play a different guitar or a different style. 🤔

    Lovely banjo. That was high action. It really did need rescuing by you. There is something romantic about finding an abandoned one and making it playable again.

    I highly recommend claw hammer it is quite weird/fun as you pop the 5th string with your thumb and pick notes with your first finger and brush the strings with the nails and all with a bent hand,it sounds great.

    Thank you Grappler50 you for sharing your song with us. As your file is a .caf file many people will not be able to listen to it. 

    I have opened it up in Logic and converted it to a .mp3 file and posted it on Box.com file sharing site. Here is a link to Grappler50 Jolene

    @K9kaosI love it Barbara! Especially the claw hammer technique,

    Truefire have some great courses on banjo. The blue grass technique with the finger picks is hard but I am getting it slowly.  Banjo is addictive.

    I saw mine in my local guitar shop when I went to part exchange a guitar for another guitar. I went home and kept on thinking about the banjo. It was so beautiful. So I started looking in to how to play a 5 string banjo and it looked like it was going to be fun. The banjo was calling out to me, it was meant for me.

    Yes Doug I believe I went into "System Preferences" and set it as the sound input. After that Quicktime uses the 2i2 whenever it is plugged in and the internal mic when it is not, this happens automatically. (I think I had to tell Logic ProX about the 2i2 for it to appear in the input options, but as you say I do not use Logic or any other DAW for my videos).

    I do not use Logic for my videos as I use these as an exercise to get my singing and playing as good as I can on the whole song in a single take. I do quite a lot of takes 🤣 so it means I get to practice the song all the way through. When I first started recording for the challenges using GarageBand I was only doing a few bars at a time and pasting them together which is not the same as playing the whole song from a practice point of view e.g learning how to transition from arpegios to strumming or from chorus back to verse. I was lazy.🤔 However I do need to start using Logic again or I will forget how to use it.😂

    I am also learning banjo, I bought an open backed one without a resonator, it is a bit quieter than the standard closed back ones but I am also social distancing with it over 4 metres!🤣

    Hi Neil I am using the Focusrite Scarlet Studio Set, it came with the Mic, 2i2 interface (and a very comfortable set of headphones). The Scarlet Mic goes through a compressor and a Boss Ve2 to the first input on the Scarlet and the guitar goes through my pedal board to the other input on the Scarlet. I am just using the MacBook Camera and recording via Quicktime so it is really easy to trim the start and end of the videos.

    Hello All, 

    I hope you are keeping as well as you can, if you are on lockdown at home or have any free time please join in with our April Recording Challenge. 

    Participants and other listeners are invited to give some supportive and constructive feedback on the submissions because that is how we learn and grow.

    🎸Here is how the Challenge works. The challenge is to record a song which fits the subject (although you are free to post any song even if it does not fit the subject). The names of people who post a song that fits the Challenge subject are put into "Random Picker" and the person which the picker chooses will be contacted by me and asked if they would like to pick the topic for the next Challenge.
