  1. Yes. I just thought the gold hardware on the 60 was going to make it irresistible to you-know-who😉
  2. Another guitarist is auctioning off guitars from his collection. We all think of Geddy Lee as the bassist for Rush but apparently, at least according to this article, he has a stash of 300+ electric guitars. He is putting up 6 of what this article from Guitar World calls "drool worthy" guitars. Geddy Lee to auction off 6 drool-worthy vintage guitars, including his '59 Les Paul The six he is putting up for auction include: 59 Strat 60 Gibson ES 345 60 Gibson ES 335 65 Gibson ES 335 67 Gibson Flying V And! Drum roll please: 59 Gibson Les Paul If recent auctions are any indication, most of these should go for obscene prices. Every one, please show forum etiquette and courtesy. @NeilES335 is no doubt going after the 1960 ES 335 so please don't bid against him!🤣
  3. Randy, here I am the guy that started this thread and I haven't watched it yet. I have it recorded and only watched bits and pieces at this point. But interestingly every single post I have seen, and there have been quite a few at other forums where I waste a lot of time, is very positive. And what is especially interesting is that many of these posts, probably most, are from people that I know to be "rockers" or blues guys or otherwise share about as much passion for country as I. Thanks for your update.
  4. @poorwayne, definitely check back when you have any questions along the way. We, of course, are fortunate to have the author of L&MG, Steve Krenz, answering our questions. This is his website and his forum and it can't get any closer to the source! Of course, Steve is busy and can't always respond immediately. There are lots of students on here of varying degrees of progress through the Learn and Master Program. There is always someone willing to offer help and encouragement until Steve can respond. Keep us updated on your progress. And I started L&MG considerably older than 58!🤔
  5. Actually, I don't think it is inversely proportional. I think it is directly, maybe linearly, proportional. The more listeners; the more likely I will miss a note! 😁🤔
  6. Yep, I've got that book, by Barrett Tagliarino. I was going to work it later. Maybe I'll work it into the daily routine now (as if there is room for more!?😮) I've been stalled out here quite a while, Neil, because of other resources. I've brought in a course on bends, slides and h-o, p-o, etc. The lesson is great but I went to a TF course to supplement it.
  7. So........status update....... Finally to 14 Bonus material, the final arpeggios section. I think it would be overly aggressive to say I'll finish up this week. But by the end of next week I hope that I can say that I'm moving on to 15. Those of you that finished the arpeggios, how long did it take? (Yeah, I know. that's no indication how long it will take me. but just curious..)
  8. I haven't watched the show yet. Bears football took precedence.😉 I sure will soon. But @Randy120, your link raises a very interesting point: "is one of Jimmie Rodgers’ guitars the most important guitar in American history?" I tend to have such tunnel vision I think that Hendrix' white Strat or John Lennon's Rickenbacker should have that distinction. But Jimmie Rodgers' guitars started it all. Thanks for the link.
  9. Airing, I think, this Sunday the 15th, on PBS. This September, Ken Burns tells the story of Country Music. I have posted on here before that country music is not my genre. But Ken Burns and Vince Gill were on some morning talk show a couple days ago and they made a case for this documentary being interesting. It is, if I'm correct 16 hours long, so a huge time commitment to watch the entire series. From the PBS website: "Explore the history of a uniquely American art form: country music. From its deep and tangled roots in ballads, blues and hymns performed in small settings, to its worldwide popularity, learn how country music evolved over the course of the 20th century, as it eventually emerged to become America’s music. Country Music features never-before-seen footage and photographs, plus interviews with more than 80 country music artists. The eight-part 16-hour series is directed and produced by Ken Burns; written and produced by Dayton Duncan; and produced by Julie Dunfey. "
  10. Doug, my post wasn't a complaint about PBS and the begging but it probably came across as such. And my wife's comment wasn't about it either but rather a comment about her not being impressed with Tommy Emmanuel either. Maybe our collective opinion will be different after next February!
  11. It is probably some sort of guitar blasphemy but I just can not enjoy watching Tommy Emmanuel. I was watching him on tv a year or two ago. He was on one of the PBS shows where they interrupt every so often to beg for donations. Send the donation and then they will send the DVD. My wife sat down and watched for a few minutes and then got up and said something to the effect, "I don't enjoy that at all". He played a concert here about a year ago and one of the guys that I jam weekly with asked if I was going and I told him I had no interest in it. It was almost like those were fighting words!😮 He is going to be on the Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea cruise next February. The good problem about this cruise is that there always multiple concerts going simultaneously. One always has to decide which one do you want to see most. Or is one of the concerts a new artist you want to check out versus one you know you will enjoy. But I almost hope he is on opposite someone we don't want badly to see. This way maybe we will force ourselves to give him another chance. And see what we are missing!
  12. Danny, sorry to disagree. But it is guitar related. You are one of, as Steve calls us, our "guitar family". So it is, therefor, guitar related. I'll bet that you can't wait for the studio to be finished. Please continue to keep us updated. Btw, You know what's happening tonight! I can't help myself. I have to say it! GO BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🤣😁😆
  13. They do look nice. As that reviewer stated in Randy's link it has its unique "mojo"😎 Are you thinking of going with humbuckers or P-90's @Mouseslave? Be sure and post a NGD and let us know your experience with it.
  14. Wim, really nice. Those string bends may have been challenging but one wouldn't know it. Very tasty bends.
  15. You've seen some guys with huge pedal boards. And I almost always wonder, "Does he really need that many? Does he use them all? How much is just for show?" And my meager little board is so puny with, let's see, tuner, compressor, distortion, chorus, overdrive(2) and delay. Is pedalboard envy a thing? But 319 pedals! And it works? Guinness verified and recognized! 😮😁 World's Largest Pedal Board.
  16. My wife and I had the fortune to see Josh Smith on the Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea cruise-several times actually. He is, according to more than one respected source I have seen, one of the greatest blues guitarists performing today. And I agree. I was on the TC Electronics YT channel and this video popped up. Yeah, I'm looking at pedals. And I'm not sure why Josh's video came up. He talks about chord tone soloing the jazz way. "A rock or a blues guy solos over the chords. A jazz guy plays through the chords". He goes into great length describing the difference. And it's fascinating. I perhaps understood 37% of it.🤔 Near the end he says "When I am soloing now I think about the next chord. It's all I think about." I hope to one day actually be able to utilize this. And I hope you find this as interesting as I did.
  17. @JDK1962, thanks for posting this. We have to have some members in this forum that are in that area that would have an interest in this.
  18. Oh Sure!?!? And I suppose the next thing you're going to say is that I should practice more! 🙄😡 Sheez! Truth be told? I could much more wisely invest my time in practicing rather than shopping. And the real time culprit for me is forums! Not just here but a bunch of other ones. PRS, Gear page, My Les Paul, etc. Soooooooo much time wasted.
  19. Andy is great. I have seen some of his Guitar World stuff. He has a series of lessons at TrueFire called "The Kings of Blues and Rock. Play in the Style of....". They are style lessons of Eric Clapton, of course the three Kings, BB, Albert and Freddie, Jimmie Page, Duane Allman, T Bone Walker and Johnny Winter. They are older ones and not of the video quality of newer HD lessons. But a year or two ago TrueFire had a sale and these were really cheap. I grabbed them.

Diane, ^^^ What Mike said. Your writing is unfailingly original, witty and entertaining. I always know I am going to enjoy a new post from you.
  21. Oh come on people! for the last 3 months no one else has found any cool music to share?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?😡
  22. 5 months to go!!! Not that I'm excited😁
