  1. Hey, Neil, thanks. I definitely see what you mean. But I have been complementing L&M for a few sessions now. And most of the materials in 15, bending, H-O, P-O, etc. I've been working on for a while. And the concepts of pick-ups, pedals, etc, I'm familiar with. I've already spent lots on pedals! 😉😆😮 I'm finishing up the last couple exercises in 15B the next couple days and will be moving on to 16.
  2. I know this is a guitar group. But as the drummer for Cream, and later Blind Faith, and as these groups, and more specifically Clapton, have influenced so many guitarists I thought we would allow this. Ginger Baker, Cream's Volatile Drummer, Dies at 80 I also highly recommend the documentary, "Beware of Mr. Baker". "Volatile" is charitable!
  3. @RaptorRich, for me it sometimes encourages me to do just as you have: to publicly state goals or plans like this. It is some form of public accountability. I'm not sure what behavioral psychologists would call it. 🤔 But I have, on occasion, done something similar here. Best of luck to you and from what I have heard, the GG 2020 will be a great experience for you. Keep us posted on your progress.
  4. Sad when people have a dirty mind like that, isn't it?!?!😆😉
  5. seems like Godzilla by Edgar Winter would be a good candidate!🤔

  7. And here is more information, another photo, regarding that, @Dave White😉
  8. 50 Years (and 4 days) ago today the Beatles and Sir George Martin release the album, Abbey Road. The name comes from the address of the EMI Studios (3 Abbey Road, Westminster) where the album was recorded. In 1970, the studio changed its name to "Abbey Road Studios" to reflect the popularity of the Beatles album. You Beatles fans: comments?????
  9. I streamed it. Very interesting. I thought we had a conversation about it here. that was probably over at our previous home.
  10. @rkl312, congratulations! Enjoy it!
  11. And I am thinking similarly about the '55 Strat at $5,500.
  12. Here is the actual auction.
  13. Chris, I can't provide a comparative statement about the ME80- vs. GT1. I'm not familiar with either but I'm confident Randy is going to provide you with valuable information. But the processor vs. individual pedals is a topic that has provided fodder for a lot of heated arguments on forums. Not here...at least not yet.😮 But to me, your logic as a beginner is a very sound one. Why not spend a couple (or few) hundred bucks on a multi-effects processor and get hundreds of pedals and dozens of amps instead of a hundred bucks, or more, per pedal?!?! This is going to provide you the opportunity to test drive a lot of different pedals, and amps, and decide what you like for your tone. Then you can decide if you are a pedal guy or a multi-effects guy. Or not😉 I have a pedal board with 7 or so pedals and I run into a Fender Blues, Jr. 3 amp. I also have a POD HD 500X multi-effects board running into my DAW and a couple monitors. I will use one set-up for weeks or months and then switch. I can't decide. But it's fun.
  14. Yes. I just thought the gold hardware on the 60 was going to make it irresistible to you-know-who😉
  15. Another guitarist is auctioning off guitars from his collection. We all think of Geddy Lee as the bassist for Rush but apparently, at least according to this article, he has a stash of 300+ electric guitars. He is putting up 6 of what this article from Guitar World calls "drool worthy" guitars. Geddy Lee to auction off 6 drool-worthy vintage guitars, including his '59 Les Paul The six he is putting up for auction include: 59 Strat 60 Gibson ES 345 60 Gibson ES 335 65 Gibson ES 335 67 Gibson Flying V And! Drum roll please: 59 Gibson Les Paul If recent auctions are any indication, most of these should go for obscene prices. Every one, please show forum etiquette and courtesy. @NeilES335 is no doubt going after the 1960 ES 335 so please don't bid against him!🤣
  16. Randy, here I am the guy that started this thread and I haven't watched it yet. I have it recorded and only watched bits and pieces at this point. But interestingly every single post I have seen, and there have been quite a few at other forums where I waste a lot of time, is very positive. And what is especially interesting is that many of these posts, probably most, are from people that I know to be "rockers" or blues guys or otherwise share about as much passion for country as I. Thanks for your update.
  17. @poorwayne, definitely check back when you have any questions along the way. We, of course, are fortunate to have the author of L&MG, Steve Krenz, answering our questions. This is his website and his forum and it can't get any closer to the source! Of course, Steve is busy and can't always respond immediately. There are lots of students on here of varying degrees of progress through the Learn and Master Program. There is always someone willing to offer help and encouragement until Steve can respond. Keep us updated on your progress. And I started L&MG considerably older than 58!🤔
  18. Actually, I don't think it is inversely proportional. I think it is directly, maybe linearly, proportional. The more listeners; the more likely I will miss a note! 😁🤔
  19. Yep, I've got that book, by Barrett Tagliarino. I was going to work it later. Maybe I'll work it into the daily routine now (as if there is room for more!?😮) I've been stalled out here quite a while, Neil, because of other resources. I've brought in a course on bends, slides and h-o, p-o, etc. The lesson is great but I went to a TF course to supplement it.
  20. So........status update....... Finally to 14 Bonus material, the final arpeggios section. I think it would be overly aggressive to say I'll finish up this week. But by the end of next week I hope that I can say that I'm moving on to 15. Those of you that finished the arpeggios, how long did it take? (Yeah, I know. that's no indication how long it will take me. but just curious..)
  21. I haven't watched the show yet. Bears football took precedence.😉 I sure will soon. But @Randy120, your link raises a very interesting point: "is one of Jimmie Rodgers’ guitars the most important guitar in American history?" I tend to have such tunnel vision I think that Hendrix' white Strat or John Lennon's Rickenbacker should have that distinction. But Jimmie Rodgers' guitars started it all. Thanks for the link.
  22. Airing, I think, this Sunday the 15th, on PBS. This September, Ken Burns tells the story of Country Music. I have posted on here before that country music is not my genre. But Ken Burns and Vince Gill were on some morning talk show a couple days ago and they made a case for this documentary being interesting. It is, if I'm correct 16 hours long, so a huge time commitment to watch the entire series. From the PBS website: "Explore the history of a uniquely American art form: country music. From its deep and tangled roots in ballads, blues and hymns performed in small settings, to its worldwide popularity, learn how country music evolved over the course of the 20th century, as it eventually emerged to become America’s music. Country Music features never-before-seen footage and photographs, plus interviews with more than 80 country music artists. The eight-part 16-hour series is directed and produced by Ken Burns; written and produced by Dayton Duncan; and produced by Julie Dunfey. "
  23. Doug, my post wasn't a complaint about PBS and the begging but it probably came across as such. And my wife's comment wasn't about it either but rather a comment about her not being impressed with Tommy Emmanuel either. Maybe our collective opinion will be different after next February!
