?Guitar Gathering Forum Collaboration GG2?
Nutty1 replied to Nutty1's topic in Guitar Playing & Technique
Great, thank you @gotto I will put you down for doing the mixing. I am uncertain as to whether the rhythm guitar tracks that I have done are of any use, they do not sound great to me. I will leave it to you and Fretless to decide on that. I would be more than happy for you to produce a replacement rhythm track. I just thought I would give it a go, I had been secretly hoping that someone other than me would do the rhythm guitar. ? Your side project sounds superb, I hope you will post some of your music for us to hear!??? -

I have put some rhythm guitar tracks in the Box, I have used the following GarageBand amps "Britt and Clean", "Fat Face" and "Warm British Combo". I like the first two together. Brit and Clean Fat Face Warm British Combo They are not very good, I feel like I am a beginner again and I am still not all that happy with my trigger finger(s). So if anyone else would like to have a go at doing this then your contribution will be most welcome! -

Superb Limjatje, you did not rush into buying it, you made a carefully considered decision and have bought the guitar that is right for you. I know that you will always love and keep playing this superb guitar. I really do like the colour! ???? -
Wow, what a fun shopping trip! The Gibson is absolutely gorgeous and in really good condition. You have a superb bit of history there, I bet she sounds lovely. Wow, what a great find!! I like the look of the Dobro too, I bet your son will be really pleased with it! Enjoy!???

Yes, it is a cunning plan! Let us assume that I will be ok to do this but Greg will step in to the rescue if I can not. We are up and running folks! -

@gotto I am nearing the end of my 6 weeks of not playing guitar. I will have a better idea on Sunday as to what my playing will be like. There seems to be an improvement in the trigger finger of my left hand but "the proof of the pudding will be in the eating". Thank you for your offer, fingers crossed that I will be able to do it (pun intended!).???? -

Fender Standard Telecaster, Good Starter Electric?
Nutty1 replied to Limatje's topic in Guitar Gear, Amps, Effects, Pedals
Hello Limatje, Fender is a really good make of guitar and you can not go wrong with them. I have never played a telecaster but I have heard that the shape of the guitar is not comfortable for everyone. A lot of people start out with a stratocaster shape or a Les Paul shape. If I were you I would go for a Fender Strat or Yamaha Pacifica 112, the Yamaha Pacifica was my first electric and I still love playing it. Best wishes Mandy -

Thank you @gotto I have put you down for lyrics and vocals. @rkl312 do you fancy having a go at the rhythm guitar if I pick a chord progression and tempo that you can play? -
Yep, it is not fair but it would have been a crime if you did not to buy them!???

While reading the practice tips article that Steve put up I saw and investigated this link. I wonder, what would my brain be like if I did not play an instrument! ??? Playing an instrument benefits your brain

That is exactly what my Udemy songwriting teacher was saying, most of the modern music is written to a formula. Maybee that explains why I have not bought many "new" albums lately and most of the stuff that I buy is music from way back, like Led Zeplin!???

Great excuse for GASing! Sad about Guitar Center.

Hello Fretless, Thank you for your kind offer. I have learnt a lot from doing the interim mixing for GG1 (your tip about the rhythm guitar tracks was A!) and looking at your final mix which is way superior to the muddy article that I produced. One of the most important things that I now know is that I know next to nothing about mixing and mastering. This prompted me to get some books to read and read articles on the internet. Also I now have an early Birthday present of some entry level monitors. Wow what a difference! Please could you help me on my mixing/mastering learning curve? If someone else wants to take you up on this kind offer could you keep me in on the loop please? -

Fantastic, thank you Fretless. -
?Following the Success of the first Guitar Gathering Collaboration (GG1) let's work together to write and record another song just for fun. It will be a team effort and anyone at any level is encouraged to join in. ? Please volunteer to do the tasks below. I will pick up any tasks that do not get volunteered for and I will help anyone who wants to join in. ?Do not worry if you have never done this before, I am here to help you and I know that other members of this forum will also help. Please feel free to send me a private message if you are not sure whether to join in. ?This is a great opportunity for people to learn how to do home recordings and music production and also for more experienced players to join in the fun of a collaboration and share their knowledge and experience, we need all skill levels! ?One of the great things about working with others is that you end up with a song that has been crafted by a pool of ideas, I always find it a useful and fun learning experience! The production tasks will be in a slightly different order this time to make the rhythm guitar track easier to do. 1) Fretless will Choose a tempo (bpm), time signature (eg 4/4), key (eg. C major) and a song structure (eg. intro, verse, chorus, bridge outro) with bars and chords. 2) Mandy will Record a rhythm guitar track. 3) Fretless will record a drum track. 4) Mandy will Record a bass guitar track. 5) Gotto will write some lyrics and choose a title for the song. 6) Gotto will record the vocals. 7) Fretless will Record a lead guitar track (solos, fills). ? Gotto will Mix and master the song, this includes providing intermediate mixes for collaborators who want a specific mix in order to or record their parts. Please note: Please record your track in 24 bit and, if you can, at 48kHz, saving your track as a wave (WAV) file. If you cannot do that then do the best quality you can. If you do not have any recording software you can use Audacity, it is free to download and easy to use. We have a shared online space from previous collaborations for uploading and sharing the audio files; I will send a PM with the link to new contributors. If you have already done a particular audio task (ie. drums, bass, guitar, vocals) in a previous collaboration then you are welcome again but do please let others have a chance to choose first. Please do not negatively criticise others' contributions ?Let the fun begin! ?????? We ended up making a song called The Way It's Meant To Be Please click on this link to listen The Way It's Meant To Be
