  1. This months topic is "Relationships" and comes from Texaspackerfan. This is a nice wide category that encompasses a huge range of songs. To anyone who is new to the recording challenge, you do not have to submit a stage ready polished piece. If you have never recorded (or video recorded) yourself then give it a go. Even if you never share it with us (which would be a shame) you will be surprised at how much it helps you to progress. Before I started doing this I had never played a whole song, let alone practice one piece so much. This site is well administrated and this makes it a safe place to share your progress, you can be assured of a warm and encouraging reception. 1) Wim VD1 playing "Gypsy Waltz" 2) Texaspackerfan playing "Amie" 3) Nutty1 playing "Baddest Blues"
  2. Thank you Ian, I had heaps of fun doing it😁. The chord progression was interesting from a songwriter's point of view as they created tension by lingering on one chord for most of the second verse. It also gave me the opportunity to have a go at putting a riff in a song which I am very bad at. So I learnt a lot too!😎
  3. Thank you Jusca. Sharleen is a very talented and good looking lady (I would definitely have to loose the sideburns for that). I can dream!πŸ˜†
  4. Great playing Danny, it is good to have you back!πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ¦‡
  5. Welcome! I look forward to reading your future posts.🎸 Please feel free to join in with the monthly recording challenge.
  6. Beautifully played Wim, very atmospheric!πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ
  7. Here is a scary one! "Welcome to my Nightmare" by Alice Cooper, Richard Wagner and Bob Ezrin.πŸ‘€
  8. Thank you Randy, she is a smaller bodied guitar, nice and light weight. The chords in the song are easy so it was a good one for me to practice arpeggios which migrated into strumming and the more complex strumming. Part of my learning about how to make a song build.
  9. Ha! I am glad that I surprised you. 😁Thank you for the story of how you knew this song. Strange times eh!
  10. I thought I would start us off early with a silly song. 🎊 "My Ding A Ling" πŸ””by David Bartholomew, covered by Chuck Berry in 1972. Incidentally Mary Whitehouse tried to get this song banned in the UK, it is a song about silver bells hanging on a string, what was she thinking!!!πŸ˜‚
  11. sThis months topic comes from me. As we are now in October the month where some countries have halloween lets do a song that is either spooky, scary or silly. Have fun! 1) Nutty 1 "My Ding A Ling" 2) Nutty 1 "Welcome to my Nightmare" 3) Wim VD1 with "Bang Bang" 4) Tesaxpackerfan playing "Bad moon rising"
  12. Thank you Randy. The guitar is a Dean Exhibition Ultra, it has a slim neck so it is easy for me to play.
  13. Here is me plus wig (and sideburns grown especially😁) with an acoustic version of "Dakota" by Stereophonics
  14. Thank you for doing this @Texaspackerfan, I am so glad that your studio is up and running again. πŸŽ‰πŸ₯³πŸŽΈπŸŽΌπŸŽˆπŸŽŠ I love it! The lead guitar is superb Danny! πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ Here is the link to the mix for everyone to enjoy GG4 Mix
  15. Interesting video Randy, that pedal list was not the usual 5 suspects, I only predicted one of them. Very inspiring, I think I should mess around with pedals more and then maybe I will get into soloing and riffs (which I have really neglected!).😁
  16. Well done @WATSON43, well played and sang Kevin.πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ
  17. Interesting article Randy, they are all great guitars but I have to say that looking at UK prices many of them seem to be aimed at people with quite big budget. I admit that my first acoustic guitar was not up to much but my first electric was a Yamaha Pacifica which is excellent and cost a fair bit less than many of the guitars on that list. And 4 years on it is still a great guitar. It was ages before I would have even contemplated shelling out for something like a PRS SE. Am I still only buying at beginner level? πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
  18. Hello @Texaspackerfan sorry I have only just seen you post, I have been ill with a virus which my husband unfortunately caught it and with him being on chemotherapy he ended up in hospital with a chest infection causing neutropenic sepsis. He is now home and on the slow road to recovery. You have not let anyone down, these things happen and we were/are all concerned for you! We are your guitar family and we care about you. The clean up operation and re-decoration of a home following a fire is a long drawn out process and smoke gets everywhere. I had to clean some rooms up after a fire at my workplace some years ago, so I have some inkling of what you are dealing with. But a fire in your own home is a different matter, I could go home to a normal life but you have to deal with it when you get home. That is an entirely different thing and it really disrupts your life. I am glad to hear that you are getting your studio back up together and I hope that you have been able to find time to play your guitar.
  19. Beautifully played @Wim VD1, I love it!πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ
  20. This months recording topic comes from Watson 43 "As autumn approaches here in the American Midwest it's a great time to be outdoors." Anything to do with the outdoors, nature, wildlife (or animals of any type, including domestic) and songs about the seasons (not just autumn, but any season). This is a nice broad category so lets grab our guitars and get practicing and posting. 1) Wim VD1 "Stormy Monday" 2) Watson43 "Mother Nature's Son" 3) Nutty 1 "Dakota"
  21. Wow! That is amazing Kevin, beautifully done. πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ
