  1. Hello All. This months Challenge comes to us from rockinrickard and is entitled πŸš›Movable ChordsπŸ’₯ Rick said "How about anything with some of the movable chord shapes that we learned a while back? It could be a real song or just a rhythm using some of the movable chord shapes; extra credit if some lead is placed over the top of the rhythm." So get recording everyone and give us something to listen to! The "winner" is chosen by a random picker and the prize is that you get to choose the topic for the next Challenge. 1. Nutty1 playing "Stray Cat Strut" Stray Cat Strut 2. Wim VD1 playing "Love of my Life"
  2. @Skip Russell Fly me to the moon is a lovely tune, well done! Thank you for sharing it with us. πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ @rockinrickard You are not late, no apology needed! You have a great voice and your rhythm playing is superb. I really enjoyed that it was very inspirational.πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ
  3. That was beautiful Fretless. πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ I love your Faith 12 string, great sound.🎸
  4. That was beautiful @Wim VD1 well played by you as always.πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ
  5. I agree with you all. From the adverts it looks like they are aiming it at young people. The fact that you can change the pickups and body parts makes me wonder if they are trying to sell it as the only electric guitar you will ever need. I suppose there may be a market for that. The neck is wood but the body parts are ABS. The thought of that being my only electric guitar sends me cold. Part of the enjoyment of guitars for me is owning a wood guitar with character. There is great choice of different guitars out there to be explored and I intend to do so whenever I can (GAS). I see the use as a travel guitar, but as you all have said, it would have to be at a far lower price point. It will be interesting to see if this boat floats.
  6. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this. Fingers crossed for you @gotto. Look after yourself and your loved ones my friend.
  7. Hello folks, it looks like they may be starting to produce the Slight Modular Guitar if they get enough backers. Would you buy one? https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/reveho/the-slite-modular-collapsible-all-in-one-electric-guitar?utm_source=emarsys&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Songwriter+September+%238-20200909&utm_content=&sc_src=email_2548801&sc_lid=149334291&sc_uid=tx7j8Jrd4W&sc_llid=14540&sc_eh=bcfe9059586827f61&sc_customer=seabirdsandpaint%40gmail.com
  8. Thank you @NeilES335, @Fretless and @Randy120, your comments mean a lot to me.
  9. Here is me having a go at Simon and Garfunkel's Scarborough Fair on my Cordoba F7. This arrangement is by Muriel Anderson. I have been learning this on and off for months now, it is far from perfect. It has been a long and hard journey for me but I am really pleased to have got it this far. Do not adjust your sets folks, it is a rough recording in mono. I used one microphone into the Scarlet 2i2.
  10. That was great Randy. Lovely guitar! πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ Sounded like the crickets(?) decided to sing along too.
  11. I received this email today containing a discount voucher for use on the Positive Grid website. If anyone out there reading this would like to use this code it is only valid for a short period of days.
  12. Hello All. πŸ‘‹ The September Recording Challenge Topic comes to us from Fretless and is 🎸 "Solo"🎀 Fretless said "I would call the topic "Solo," by which I mean try playing (and recording) just you playing your guitar with no backing track. That could be an exercise from L&MG, a song you like, a fingerpicked or jazzy masterpiece with a melody embedded, or just a single note exercise or melody. If you wish to sing too, feel free." This is a challenge that anyone at any stage in their guitar journey can do. So get practicing and recording and join in the fun!😎 1. Randy120 doing a "Grand Pacific Sound Check" 2. Nutty1 playing "Scarborough Fair" 3. Wim VD1 playing "Brothers in Arms" 4. Fretless playing "Ode to Joy" 5. Skip Russel playing "Fly me to the moon" 6. rockinrickard playing "My Girl"
  13. Wow! She is superb Greg. Enjoy!
  14. An interesting thing happened yesterday which highlighted the nature of the Spark App. People started to get error messages like the one below, this one was when someone was trying to use the Smart Jam. My own app wouldn't let me play videos. It turned out to in fact be that someone had let PG's certificate expire. So this means that if PG give up and pull their server we will all just be left with a nice amp. I asked this question of the other Spark Amp owners and they said yes. I still don't regret my purchase because there will always be something like the Tonebridge App and ChordU etc which will do some of the stuff that the Spark App does. It is all working again now, I found the smart jam great for practicing chord changes as you can slow it down and speed it up. I am having fun!
  15. I subject you guys to my rhythm playing just about every month.πŸ˜† I am using the Spark to inspire me to learn different rhythm patterns and to encourage me to play at faster tempos (while my arthritis is having a good patch). I think playing along with the videos is a good start, just like the disappearing metronome trick I will know I have made some progress if I can’t hear the bands rhythm guitar part. Yes my playing is that bad! When I reach that stage I will record my rhythm playing to a drum beat and see what it really sounds like. Thank you for the great advice guys. 😎
  16. @Six StringThank you for the tip about separating the original track from my own playing. I think it can be done because the app makes 2 different bluetooth connections to the amp. 1 to transfer the information about the amp and pedals etc and the other to transfer the audio from the Youtube video. Thank you also for telling me that you have found the same issue with other auto chord detection apps. I do like the way the Spark app is set out as you can see it bar by bar as well as having the chord boxes that light up when you need to play the chord and the red cursor that moves along the song chart as you play.
  17. My Spark arrived yesterday. So far I am impressed. It sounds great to my untrained ears.😁 I am very happy with it in spite of a few things in the app that need a bit more development. Here are a few thoughts about the app (I shall update this when I think of more). 1. The auto chord detection only works on Youtube videos. If you are an apple music user then you can select a track from your music library, the app will then search Youtube for that track. The same happens with Spotify, you export a playlist to the Spark App and when you select a track from it the app searches Youtube for the track. 2. Some users report that the auto chord detection puts in chords that are not really there. I compared the Spark chord analysis with Chordify and Chordu with the Official Bryan Addams Summer of 69 video. I found that the Spark App analysis was more complicated and did have more different chords in it.
  18. Part of it is knowing the words of the song really well. Keep at it, you will get it.🎸😎 🎀
  19. Hey @Triple-o this was the first song that I learnt to play and sing at the same time too! I started with all down strokes in 3/4 time. Keep at it and don’t forget to record yourself so you can see which bits you have got and which bits you need to focus more on.
  20. Beautifully done @rockinrickard that was superb.πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ I like your idea of a name change for @Fretless. 😁
  21. I have just received my reply from Positive Grid, they apologised and said "I've checked on your order and expect it to ship to you on or before August 31, 2020. Guaranteed!" Feeling a lot more positive now (pun intended!) I like the word Guaranteed! I like the fact that they answered too.😎 Incidentally while reading their website I saw a suggestion that those of us who are waiting for our amps could install the Spark App and take a look at it. I am pleased to tell you that there is a feature in the app that allows you to unlock the functions by typing in your order number. Bingo! πŸ₯³ So far I am impressed. I can open up songs and see the chords and play along and I have also got the smart jam to work using an acoustic guitar. You can even edit the chords and change the tempo or transpose the smart jam track you have created. I discovered lots of this in other people's Youtube videos and have got it to work on my iPad app. It almost feels worth it just for the app!🎸🎸🎸 I looked at an app for Mac where you had to pay Β£1 per track so the same money would buy me 120 tracks (this was one of my thoughts before purchasing the Spark). Spark gives you all of the Youtube video tracks plus your own iTunes tracks. I have not looked into Spotify yet. If you are really unlucky I may make a video to show you.πŸ˜†
