Hey guys. Just wondering if there are ways to stream the courses on a smart tv or do I have to find a DVD player? It’s been a while and I’m back. Ready to restart my courses but don’t have a player. Curious.

Lost touch over last several years due to health and living situation. Lost so much stuff but not my guitars. No sir that’s going when I go. Ha!

@DavidMc  Your question arises now and then (see this thread) but I think you'll need a DVD player. From there you can rip the files to a hard drive or SSD for convenience. It appears that now even CrowdGuitar is defunct, so the few lessons that were once there are gone. There are still some lessons by Arlen Roth here.

Ok. There is a Homespun App called “Purple” that they use and you buy courses through them and they are stream. Maybe in the future Steve will look into it. Off to find a DVD player as I own the set and book. It’s a cherished item of mine. Thank you.

@DavidMc DVD players are like $30 at Walmart.. and might as well get yourself a HDMI cable too..

but if you have a computer with a DVD or Blueray player in it.  look into PavTube software.

there are many ripping software's but I use it for 98% of what I need to rip into mp4

I'd be great if Steve re-wrote the whole LMG series under the Guitar Gathering banner and expanded some of the sections as well.

Steve's stuff would fit great under Truefire too.

but alas we have a Legacy to follow..

I am wondering the same. My old Mac laptop with DVD player is now in the museum (aka 2007 thus 84years in dog years) My new computer does not have a DVD player. I currently use a borrowed antique DVD player to connect to an antique laptop to watch the DVD’s I purchased to learn and master guitar and finger style guitar from a few decades ago. So I am looking for a good way to rip the DVD to a format for a pad (Mac or Windows or Android). Some of the pay for apps are big bucks and the free or low cost solutions are just not ver good. Open for ideas.

On a Mac the usual app to use to rip video is Handbrake.

@jambguitar don't forget.. there are lots of external USB (either old USB-A or Newer USB-C) DVD/Blueray players that are typically under $100..

they'll plug in to the USB port (just make sure you get one that matches your port or use an adapter) and watch away
