  1. Hi all, as I move forward in my guitar journey and getting ready to look at buying my first pedals for fender squire strat. What would you purchase as your first three pedals? Does it matter about the amp? Currently looking at Boss Katana 50 or similar. Thanks for your comments. 🎸🎼🎸
  2. Thanks for your comments, as I begin this journey, as there is so much on the marketplace...and being first time serious buyer...they will most likely all sound good...boss katana 50 seems pretty good....any ideas about Marshall as they were the main player when I was a lot younger many moons ago🎸Happy 4th to all and appreciate all the feedback 🎼
  3. Thanks Diane, alt form of Dm, I was referring as I thought STeve showed as, 1st finger on F, 2nd on the A and pinky on D?leaving my ring finger free....will go back to the lesson for review but do appreciate all the help 🎸🎼
  4. Thanks for all the comments and hate to ask what I feel is a stupid question....when shopping for an amp do you normally bring your guitar? Looking forward to testing the amps recommended....🎼🎸
  5. Thanks did they fit without any issue? Was searching and saw graph tech , not sure what I should be looking for? Lol 🎸
  6. Picked up a fender squire strat from a friend and think it may be worth doing some mods. Has anyone replaced the tuners with locked tuners or smoothed the edges on the fretboard? I have only done string replacements. Is this easy to do for first timer or bring it in to a shop. Also, would like to get a better amp, any recommendations for use with the squire strat? Thanks for any feedback 🎼🎸
  7. Thanks for the reply, as I play this piece with Dm alt form then use my ring finger on my fretting hand to play C#.....hope I am understanding this correctly? Thanks for your comments.
  8. Fingerstyle has certainly helped cleaning my barre chords. I wanted to ask on bonus resource session 10 intro, second measure D2/C#, does 4 represent the ring finger? thanks for your help
  9. Hi again, maybe to assist in my selection which guitars would you feel have a relatively small neck for folks with small hands or less dexterity? Thanks again for any comments! 🎸🎼
  10. Hi Jim, that site is longer being used....you are now in the right place 🎸
  11. thanks for the feedback and insight and will keep an open mind....guess it’s time to start trying out some guitars 🎸 this should be fun 🎼
  12. Nice looking guitar and sounds good but didn’t care for the cons regarding the nut and tuners....finally looking for my first serious electric guitar and as usual too many choices.....been looking at epiphone lp custom pro which also appears to play well for the price.... imagine best way is to plug them in and play 🎸 any comments welcomed 🎼
  13. Thanks for the reply and learned some new Spanish words🎸 so far moving along in session 10 , but not a big fan of Merle Travis style.....will try to nail down Canon in D before moving onto session 11......figure I can come back if I really want dive deeper into finger picking ...looking forward to session 11 and almost ready for a new guitar🎸
  14. Thanks and Appreciate the reply, but what is p-i-m-a-m-i actually?
  15. Just getting into session 10 and certainly finding it a bit challenging. With practice it will come eventually. Wanted to check if finger style pattern for House of Rising Sun is Thumb-1-2-3? Thanks and keep on strummin’🎸
  16. Finally made it to session 9.....but after reading all the comments session 10 should be a real challenge....certainly enjoying the journey ...any tips while working on session 9 .. thanks and keep on strumming ??
  17. Been working with the course since April 2018 and am going to start lesson 9 this month.....finally got through the barre chord lessons and nice to finally get them play pretty cleanly....still need to study the scales, keys and key signatures....hope that doesn’t prohibit me much in the next group of lessons.....so far enjoying the journey and looking forward to the next chapters in my guitar quest....
  18. Good luck as I am also in session 7....don’t get discouraged the barre chords do come with practice.... just a side note, the finger exercises I felt helped me to play the barre chords cleanly.... enjoy the ride
  19. I have made it to lesson 7 and wanted to ask are there any specific exercises aside from what STEVE shows that you used to strengthen the first finger? Also, in the barre chords shown in the book (for example Fm), what is the purpose of showing a bold 1 on the e,b and g strings when your finger is to press all the strings on the barre chord? Thanks.
  20. Hi All, I am currently in lesson 7 on LMG and now picking up additional music books as Steve recommends. The high A, B, C and D have not yet been covered but figure that comes in later chapter. What fret and string do you use to play these notes? Thanks Chris
  21. Appreciate the feedback and happy to hear I am moving in the right direction. I will try to remember that perfection at this point is little too early....that is due to my ocd...lol...expect to move on to lesson seven early August......will keep you posted on my progress...?
  22. Still working on lesson 5 and the chords are coming along a lot better. began lesson 6 shortly as these 2 lessons seem to work together. Any advice on lesson 6... I tried the first barre chord and can get the E and B string sounding ok but can’t seem to get the G string with my 3rd finger to sound cleanly....are there better exercises that would provide better flexibility to stretch my fingers. Thanks
  23. Thanks for advice Neil.....yes as you noted there are really no rules and practice, practice, practice
  24. Thanks for the feedback and still finding my way through the chord changes but enjoying the journey. Wanted to ask if the chord changes are easier for certain chords, when using your pinky as finger number 3, is this a good practice?
  25. Just started lesson 5 and look forward to the journey. Be good once to get these chords down.....really starting to have fun now..... practice....practice...practice....anyone recommend a good starting bpm....thanks
